The emperor boarded a palanquin carried by more than a dozen people and, with a large entourage, headed towards Yongshou Palace.
Consort Shu's headaches persisted and recurred frequently.
Since she was ill, Consort Shu was naturally unable to attend to the emperor in bed, and she had not seen the emperor for some time.
When she heard the report from outside, she thought she had misheard. It wasn't until her personal maid reminded her that she hurriedly got out of bed, changed her clothes, combed her hair, and put on makeup.
When the emperor stepped into the main hall of Yongshou Palace, Consort Shu, dressed in a light purple gauze dress sprinkled with gold, gracefully bowed to him.
"This humble servant greets Your Majesty."
The emperor quickly stepped forward and took her arm.
"My beloved concubine has lost weight in the few days I've been away."
These words caused a thin mist to rise in Consort Shu's eyes.
"I will be at peace if I can see Your Majesty again."
She spoke gently and sweetly, her face displaying just the right amount of joy and shyness.
Of all the concubines in the imperial harem, the Imperial Concubine was not the most beautiful, but she was definitely the gentlest.
At least that's how it is in front of the emperor.
The emperor suppressed his pity and led her into the inner chamber, gently asking about her recent situation. His actions were just like those of the two when they were most in love.
Consort Shu was flattered and never stopped smiling.
The two had lunch together, and the emperor even personally served medicine to Consort Shu.
Consort Shu closed her eyes and quickly fell asleep.
The tenderness in the emperor's eyes vanished in an instant, leaving only coldness in his indifferent gaze.
"This medicine must not be discontinued, do you hear me?"
Consort Shu's personal maid knelt to one side, her body trembling slightly, her head almost buried in her chest.
She responded softly with a "Yes," silently thinking to herself: Your Majesty, please don't blame me. I cannot disobey the Emperor's orders.
