Chapter 1021: I missed you so much that I couldn't resist coming back.
Wang Yanzhi handed the things she brought back from Dabai Mountain to Old Madam Gu.
"These are all from the mountains. Take a look and decide which ones to keep, which ones to eat today, and which ones to give away. You can make the arrangements." The things that come out of those mountains are all special.
Wang Yanzhi herself doesn't have much of a social circle in Beijing. They'll be going back to Hong Kong in a couple of days, so she'll leave these things to Grandma Gu.
Once inside, after taking off her cotton-padded coat, Wang Yanzhi held Gu Yin's hand and examined it carefully, then nodded with a smile: "Not bad, your hands aren't rough!"
Gu Yin said helplessly, "It's normal for people who do experiments to have thicker hands. Grandma, the things you worry about are always different from other people's!"
Wang Yanzhi scoffed, "Then what am I worried about? Lost weight? You're not thin at all, you look like you've even gained weight. Work? I don't know anything about that, and it's a secret you keep, so asking is pointless. Relationships? Asking will only hurt you. We haven't seen each other for so long, shouldn't I find something to talk about?"
At this point, Wang Yanzhi looked at the others: "We're going back to Hong Kong for the holiday in a couple of days. Why don't you guys come along? It's lively there too!"
Everyone looked at Gu Yin, who said regretfully, "I have to leave home in my third year of junior high..."
Explain clearly why I went back to my hometown to work this time.
Wang Yanzhi never expected this to happen!
After thinking for a moment, he called Zhou Wansheng over: "Old Zhou, let's go back together. We've never been to our wife's grave to sweep the tombs. Let's go together this time. We go to the Hong Kong graves every year, so it's okay to go a little later this year!"
Upon hearing this, Zhou Wansheng calculated the time and said, "After going to Jiangcheng, I'll have to go straight back to Dabaishan. I won't go back to Gangcheng then. You and Ale will go back then."
"Okay, that works, it's decided then!"
This year, I spent the Spring Festival with the Chu family.
Because of the Chu family's affair, fewer people have come to pay New Year's visits in recent years. The Chu family is happy to have some peace and quiet and simply closes its doors to guests. Those who wanted to come, seeing that the Chu family was unwilling to receive them, have gradually stopped coming.
The two families celebrated together, and five large tables were set up in the courtyard!
By the time we finished eating, it was already past six o'clock.
"Those of you who want to go to the show, hurry up! Make sure you have your tickets! And everyone, be careful!"
After seeing the person off, Wang Yanzhi looked at Gu Yin and asked, "Are you really not going?"
Gu Yin shook her head: "I'm not interested in this. Sitting for hours on end is not as comfortable as sleeping at home. Besides, I can watch TV."
Wang Yanzhi nodded: "Alright, I don't like watching that stuff either. Let's go, let's go play mahjong at your in-laws' house!"
The four members of the Chu family did not go, nor did Wang Yanzhi, Zhou Wansheng, and Gu Yin from the Gu family. Everyone else, including Chi Xing, went.
"good."
The underfloor heating in both houses is interconnected, so even without a coat, you won't feel cold.
When they arrived at the Chu family's house, the mahjong set was already laid out, and the table was also filled with fruits, candies, nuts, and other treats.
"I can't play, so I won't get involved!" The old lady sat down on the sofa and started watching the gala.
"Ayin, go play. If you lose, Grandma will pay. If you win, it's yours!" Seeing Gu Yin sitting still, the old lady smiled and told her to go play.
Gu Yin shook her head, rolling up the loose knitted sleeves: "I don't know how to play either. I'll stay with Grandma to watch the gala."
She really doesn't know how to play, but if she wanted to learn, it would only take one game. However, she has no interest in these things.
"You really don't want to fight?"
The others also looked at Gu Yin.
Gu Yin shook her head: "You guys play, I'm not playing. I'm watching the show! Maybe I'll see Grandma and the others later."
Seeing that she really didn't want to play, the others took turns sitting at the table.
Listening to the sound of mahjong tiles and watching a skit that wasn't particularly funny, Gu Yin was a little bored. When the camera panned across the audience area a few times, Gu Yin saw Grandma and the others, and she was quite excited.
"Ayin, are you hungry? Should I ask Auntie to make some late-night snacks? If you're sleepy, go to sleep first, and you can get up to celebrate the New Year when they come back tonight?" Seeing her granddaughter-in-law lazily reclining on the sofa, one might mistake her for being asleep if they didn't look closely.
Gu Yin opened her eyes upon hearing this, checked the time, and saw that it was almost ten o'clock.
She stood up and said, "It's alright, there's still plenty of food left. I'll go back and ask the auntie to heat it up, and I'll bring some over for you too!"
“That’s fine, I’ll go with you then.” The old lady said, getting up to get up.
Gu Yin quickly refused: "It's right next door, I can go by myself. You sit down, and your favorite show will be here soon!"
Grandma Chu thought that with a housekeeper at the Gu family's house, Gu Yin wouldn't have to worry about anything and her safety would be guaranteed, so she nodded and said, "Okay! Take your time, there's no rush!"
Gu Yin nodded, walked through the courtyard, and returned to the Gu family home.
"Auntie, please make some easily digestible food and take it over there later!"
"Yes, Miss!"
After instructing her aunt, Gu Yin looked around and went to the pavilion, where she lit the charcoal fire around the stove.
I took some chicken wings, chicken feet, chicken legs, and meat skewers, put them on the grill, and started grilling them slowly.
Looking at the quiet sky, Gu Yin let out a breath, lay back in the rocking chair, and occasionally turned the roasted meat.
Half an hour later: "Miss, the food is ready. Would you like to come along?"
Gu Yin sat up straight: "Come over here and take these skewers of meat with you."
After everyone left, Gu Yin picked up a chicken foot and slowly began to gnaw on it.
Being alone is a rare and pleasant experience.
With her eyes closed, eating roasted oranges and listening to the wind that sometimes blew loudly and sometimes softly, Gu Yin was able to relax completely, a rare moment of peace.
"Why are you sitting here all alone during the Lunar New Year?"
"Host!!"
A deep, husky, and familiar voice sounded above Gu Yin's head, and Gu Yin opened her eyes with a "whoosh!"
Looking at the man before her, who seemed both familiar and increasingly unfamiliar, Gu Yin closed her eyes. When she opened them again, he was still there.
Gu Yin's throat moved slightly, and her mouth opened and closed, but the words that were about to come out were finally uttered after several attempts.
"You, how did you get back? How did you get back?"
The man reached out and ruffled her hair, his voice deep and gentle as he chuckled, "I missed you so much, my heart couldn't stop, and I couldn't bear it any longer, so I sneaked back. Did you scare me?"
Feeling the pressure above her head, Gu Yin reached out and pressed down on the mischievous hand. The moment she touched it, a cold sensation immediately followed.
"Why is it so cold? Warm up quickly!" Gu Yin got up, pressed him into the warm recliner, and then wrapped him up completely with the blanket next to him.
