Chapter 2 Rebirth

Chapter 2 Rebirth

In the sweltering summer, the sounds of cicadas and birds fill the air. From time to time, the barking of dogs echoes from the village nestled at the foot of the mountain. Across the river from the village, in the fields, one can vaguely see many small figures working. It is late July, the season for the rice harvest.

In a farmhouse courtyard near the foot of the mountain at the edge of the village, an unconscious little girl lay on the clean cement ground. Next to her, in a vegetable garden full of various kinds, there was an open space enclosed, where more than a dozen ducks were kept. The weather was too hot, and the water in the trough had been turned upside down by the ducks, making it impossible for them to drink. So they kept quacking.

Perhaps the ducks were too noisy, because the girl lying down twitched her eyelids. After struggling for a while, she finally managed to open her eyes. The sunlight was too bright, so she slowly closed her eyes again and raised her hand to shield them.

"So noisy...!"

The constant quacking of ducks, coupled with the scorching sun on the ground, made Gu Yin extremely annoyed. She felt like she was about to cook! She thought to herself, "Why are there ducks making noise on the main street? Even if I'm just here to watch the show, this isn't the way to watch it. And why hasn't the doctor arrived yet?" She wondered if the little bit of blood on her body would be enough to keep her waiting for the doctor to arrive.

However, I don't know if I've become numb from the pain, but right now only my forehead is throbbing, and I don't feel anything else in my body. I don't know if it's just my imagination or if it's a final burst of energy before death.

"Miss, could you please get me an umbrella to shield me from the sun? I feel like the only difference between me and barbecue is that I'm sprinkled with cumin. This is so naive...!!!" Gu Yin said, opening her eyes and turning her head to look to the side, wanting the beautiful driver from before to help her out.

In the blink of an eye, she saw the familiar vegetable garden across the street, the peach tree that had been cut down after she started junior high school, and the ducks her mother used to keep. Gu Yin's pupils contracted, and her hands tightened. It wasn't until she felt a suffocating sensation in her lungs from forgetting to breathe that Gu Yin snapped out of her daze. She took a deep breath and braced herself against the ground to get up.

As soon as she exerted force with both hands, Gu Yin felt something on the ground. Looking down, she saw that the white rice was scattered all over the cement floor. Gu Yin shuddered and hurriedly climbed to the well and looked down into the well.

A girl with pigtails was reflected in the water. Her face was covered in blood from a head injury, making it difficult to see her features. Fortunately, the bleeding had stopped, but it still looked quite terrible.

Gu Yin waved her hand, and the little girl on the well waved back. Gu Yin's eyes lit up. Forgetting about how she had gone from being 32 years old to being 12, she hurriedly stood up and ran out the door.

As a result of excessive bleeding, he swayed and fell at the doorway.

Looking at the still bumpy dirt road ahead, she ignored the pain, got up and went back to the yard, pushed out her father's old bicycle that he had parked under the pomelo tree, and without even putting on her shoes, she crawled her right leg under the crossbar, grabbed the handlebars, and with a push, the bicycle started moving.

The old-fashioned bicycle was too high to control well, and she had fallen several times, which made her timid. She couldn't ride this bike when she was a child, but now that she's 32 years old, she's learned to ride all kinds of bikes, so this is no longer a problem.

Gu Yin pedaled her bike all the way to the bridge at the village entrance, but didn't see a single person. She was so anxious that she almost cried. She had already woken up earlier than expected. It wouldn't be like her previous life. It definitely wouldn't be!

It's late July now, which is the busy season for farming. Everyone, young and old, is busy working in the fields.

She and her younger brother Gu Le were at home because her brother had a fever a couple of days ago and had just recovered today. Her family was worried and asked her to stay home with him. Otherwise, she and her brother would be in the fields right now.

"Ayin! What are you doing! That car is too big, get off quickly! You'll fall!" A woman's voice came from under the bridge.

Gu Yin quickly braked and approached the bridge. When she saw the person below the bridge, her eyes welled up and tears streamed down her face.

The temperature was too high today, and the adults were worried that the children wouldn't be able to stand it, so Gu Hua and her brother Gu Shu were allowed to go home early. On their way, they saw that the snails by the river were quite large, so the two of them started catching snails in the shallow water on the bank.

Gu Hua urgently needed to relieve herself, so she hid in the bushes under the bridge. Just as she finished, she saw her cousin riding her uncle's bicycle across the bridge, which startled her, and she quickly called out to stop her.

Before she could even begin to lecture her, she saw her cousin turn around with her face covered in blood, her eyes brimming with tears. Terrified, she screamed, "Brother! Brother! Ah Yin is bleeding! Lots of blood! Brother!"

Gu Shugang had just come up from the water after catching snails when he heard his sister's shout. Looking up, he saw his cousin waving at him from the bridge, her face covered in blood. He was so frightened that he almost fell into the water.

Without even having time to gather the snails he had just picked up, Gu Shu ran barefoot towards the other side as fast as he could.

Gu Yin wiped her face and shouted to her cousin, who was a year older than her, "Brother! Little brother has been taken away by kidnappers! Go to the fields and find the adults. Tell them to go to the rice noodle shop in town. Remember, they must go to his house, not the stall! I'll ride over there first, be quick!" Before they even got ashore, she pedaled away.

Hearing Gu Yin's words, Gu Shu hurriedly stopped and shouted to Gu Hua, "Hua! Go to town and find Grandma! First go to the meat stall, then the vegetable stall! If you can't find her, wait by the noodle stall! Never mind, go home and bring Dad's bicycle over! I'll go call the adults!" After saying that, he turned around and swam across the river to the other side, taking a shortcut and running quickly towards his own field.

Gu Hua also ran towards home, crying as she ran, worried about both Gu Le and Gu Hua.

When I got home, I saw that the front door was open, so I figured that Ah Yin must have been too late to go out.

Gu Hua couldn't ride a bike either, and pushing it would take too long. Thinking of this, she gritted her teeth and pedaled a few times on the side, which was faster than walking. However, the road was uneven, and the bicycle was too heavy, so she fell down. She got up and cried loudly, ignoring her scraped knees. She picked up the bicycle and was about to continue pedaling when she saw someone walking from the foot of the mountain.

4

"Uncle Li! Uncle Li! Can you help me take my bike to the bridge? My brother was kidnapped by a child trafficker! My family is waiting for the bike to go find him! Can you ride it for me? I can't ride a bike!"

Li Sanye, the former secretary of Lijia Village, is now the village secretary, and his nephew Li Dashan is the current secretary. Li Genzi is always smiling and warm-hearted, and the children like him quite a bit.

Li Genzi put down the hoe, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and instructed Gu Hua: "Then help me take the hoe and shovel home. What a mess! We didn't even know when the bandits came to the mountains! I'll give them a piece of my mind later! You rode to the bridge over there, right? I saw your family going there to harvest rice this morning!"

Gu Hua quickly nodded: "Yes, thank you for your help, Third Master Li! Please ride faster!"

Li Genzi nodded, slung his leg over the bicycle, and quickly rode forward.

Gu Hua was anxious. Li Sanye's house was quite far from hers, so she thought she would leave his hoe at her house and have an adult take it over that evening. So she picked up the hoe and shovel, went back to the yard, put them away, locked the gate, and ran quickly toward the bridge.

On the other side, Gu Qinglang, who had just carried a sack of millet to the roadside, saw his nephew running towards him from a distance and hurriedly shouted, "A-Shu! Why are you running? Slow down! Be careful not to fall!"

Gu Shu was so out of breath from running that he could barely speak. When he saw his second uncle ahead, he quickly waved for him to come over.

Seeing his gesture, Gu Qinglang ran over in confusion: "What's wrong? Where's Ahua?"

When they got closer, they saw that his pants and clothes were wet, and their expressions changed: "Did Ahua fall into the water! Where did he fall! Tell me quickly!" After saying that, they ran towards the other side of the river.

Gu Shu hugged him tightly, shaking her head quickly: "No, no, phew!" Taking a deep breath, Gu Shu said quickly: "My brother was taken away by the kidnappers! Ayin went after them! She told us to go to the house of the drug dealer! We have to hurry!" After saying that, she let go and sat on the ground, panting.

Gu Qinglang's vision went black. He didn't have time to ask why there were people chasing after him, or what was going on, or why Ayin had chased after him alone. He ran wildly towards the road leading to the town.

Gu Shu didn't waste any time and continued running to the fields to inform the rest of the family.

Gu Qinglang ran to the intersection but didn't see anyone, so he had to continue running towards the town on his own two feet. Just as he ran out of the village road and reached the three-way intersection, he saw the old village chief, who was driving a tractor, returning from the town.

He hurriedly waved: "Old village chief! Turn the car around! My son Ale has been snatched away by a pickpocket! Turn around quickly!"

Upon hearing this, the old village chief hurriedly turned around at the intersection, asked no further questions, and waited for him to get into the car and settle down before quickly heading towards the street.

When Gu Hua put down Li Sanye's hoe and ran halfway, she saw a person and a bicycle parked on the side of the road ahead, and she was stunned.

"Third Master Li, what are you still doing here? The car, hasn't the car been delivered yet?"

Li Genzi took a deep drag of his cigarette and nodded his chin toward the bike: "The chain is off, I can't put it back on, I can't ride it."

Gu Hua went over and fiddled with it a couple of times in disbelief, but it went smoothly after just a couple of moves. She looked at Master Li with a puzzled expression: "Is it okay?"

Li Genzi chuckled, got up, pushed the cart a couple of times, and nodded. "You're really lucky! I struggled for ages and couldn't get it working, but you fixed it as soon as you arrived! It's all set! Come on, I'll take you there. You're so lucky!"

Seeing him like this, Gu Hua didn't know what to say for a moment. She was anxious but didn't dare to criticize him, so she could only get into the car.

Meanwhile, Gu Yin, enduring the discomfort in her head, rode her old bicycle for half an hour, finally catching a glimpse of the houses in town.

In her previous life, she was woken up by Gu Shu when he returned home around four o'clock in the afternoon. By then, it was too late to learn that her younger brother was missing.

She was taken to the hospital by her grandmother, and her family and villagers searched the whole village and town. They even called the police, but they still couldn't find her. All they knew was that she was a nun. Most people thought that nuns usually came from the mountains, so they all went to the mountains to look for her. They had no idea that she was actually part of a gang.

On the third day after Gu Le went missing, the family who sold the noodles returned from the city and heard about the incident. During dinner, the parents admonished their child about it. The child said that he forgot to take his hat when he was about to go out that day, so he went back alone. After he got his hat and locked the door, he saw a nun get out of a car in front of the house next door. She greeted him and reached out for candy, asking if he wanted some. He rushed to meet his parents, took the candy, and ran away. He didn't know where the candy went or if it was the same person. However, he noticed that the nun had a mole the size of a peanut on her pinky finger when she reached out.

That night, the family went to the police station and told the police. When the police came to the hospital to question Gu Yin, she was certain that it was the nun who had knocked her brother unconscious. She had seen the mole when she tried to knock the nun's wrist, but the person who knocked her unconscious was a man. She only heard the voice and did not see the person.

After all, she was just a twelve-year-old rural child. She spent her days climbing mountains, rivers, and trees, and she was incredibly strong. If that man hadn't come over, the nun wouldn't have been able to snatch her brother away. That one brick knocked her down. Originally, the man wanted to take her with him, but she vaguely heard the woman say that this girl was fierce and strong. They had a lot of goods this time, and they were afraid that she might have an accident on the way. Also, her head was covered in blood, and they were afraid that she wouldn't be able to handle it and that it would be troublesome to deal with. So the man agreed not to take her with him, and then she fainted.

Unfortunately, we received the news too late. Other neighbors said that the truck picked up another boar that night and then left for another province. They also terminated the lease on the house, saying that all the pigs in the area had been bought up and they were going to check other provinces. Three days had passed since the incident, and the person had long since disappeared.

Upon hearing the news, her parents came to see her the next day and, after explaining some things, went directly to a nearby province to look for her. That was the last time Gu Yin saw her parents in her previous life. The next news she received was that the two of them had fallen into a river in a rural area of another province and died despite rescue efforts.

My uncle and aunt went to pick them up, but they were in a car accident on the way. My aunt died on the spot, and my uncle lost a leg.

The grandparents, who received the news, also passed away a month later, heartbroken.

That year, a dark cloud hung over the Gu family. Of the remaining four members, one was crippled, and the other three were still children. Gu Shu took on the responsibility of caring for the family, and his hair turned white before his death. There was never any laughter or joy in the family again.

Thinking of this, Gu Yin bit her lip and pedaled the bicycle even harder.

Never again! She must ensure her family's safety! Not a single one can be missing! She must change everyone's fate! Even if it costs her her own life!

Today is market day, and people are coming and going in the town. Gu Yin rode her old bicycle into the residential area at the street corner. Before she even entered the alley, she saw a white pickup truck surrounded by iron railings, inside which stood a fat old boar.

If she hadn't heard in her past life that the partition under the boar station was hollow, she wouldn't have been able to tell anything even if she passed by, and would have thought it was a pig manure pit!

The bottom layer contained the abducted children! The children had been drugged and couldn't make a sound. The truck was surrounded by sheet metal with five large padlocks that couldn't be opened without a key. The truck bed was pitch black except for the area where pig manure fell down to allow air circulation. In those days, toll booths wouldn't notice anything amiss with a truck like this on the highway. Plus, the boars were really smelly, so few people went near it. That's how the older generation managed to escape. But then something like this happened again, and with a crackdown, these pickup trucks were never allowed to enter the country again.

There was no one in the alley, and I was injured. If I went there alone, I might be arrested before I could even say a word. In that case, I wouldn't be able to save anyone, and I would also end up killing myself and alerting the enemy.

But when she thought of her younger brother, Gu Yin couldn't care less about anything else.

She parked her bicycle at the intersection and then slowly walked toward the pickup truck with her head down.

When she was three meters away from the car, Gu Yin stopped moving forward and instead leaned against a depression in the alley next to her. After waiting for about five minutes and seeing that there was no movement from the car, she continued to walk slowly towards it, leaning against the wall.

After passing through the closed gate, as she prepared to pass the front of the car, Gu Yin held her breath and lowered her head, afraid that there was someone in the driver's seat, and also afraid that they would recognize her.

When she walked past the car, she didn't hear any movement inside. She raised her arm to shield the wound on her head, pretending to block the sun, and glanced casually at the driver's side. The glance passed by, and she immediately looked away.

Gu Yin stopped abruptly. From that one glance, she was certain there was no one inside. The pickup truck's cab was very simple, with only two seats. With the sun so bright and nothing in front of the windshield, the sunlight was streaming in, making it difficult for anyone to stay inside. Moreover, there was no air conditioning or even a simple electric fan in the truck. Clearly, these people must have gone inside.

Gu Yin quickly circled the car once, then took the butterfly hair clip off her hair. These butterfly hair clips were very popular at this time in her previous life; they were sparkly and would sway up and down. She remembered that the pair she had was brought back to her by her uncle to celebrate her elementary school graduation.

After removing all the unnecessary parts, Gu Yin took the hair clip, went to the back door of the car, and fiddled with the iron chain. With a "click," she quickly removed the lock and then fiddled with the other locks. After opening all the locks, she carefully pulled hard and slowly lowered the iron railing.

I'm grateful for the skills I learned in my past life while searching for my younger brother!

Once the car's back door closed silently, Gu Yin let out a soft breath.

The old pig in the car seemed to sense the movement and swayed to its feet.

Gu Yin picked up a handful of straw from the truck and gently brushed it against the old boar's thigh a few times, slowly guiding it out of the truck bed. If it stayed in the truck, the partition wouldn't be able to be opened, and the bottom layer would be even more inaccessible.

Under the scorching midday sun, Gu Yin was drenched in sweat, and the wound on her head was throbbing with pain. Even so, she remained calm and composed, her expression unchanged.

The old pig turned around, stepped onto the door panel, swayed off the car, and then walked towards the ditch.

Putting down the straw, Gu Yin looked around the side of the truck bed but couldn't find a way to open the compartment. She looked at the ventilation opening in the middle, climbed onto the truck bed, and looked down through the ventilation opening. There was a small iron bar, but looking through the iron bar, it was all dark and she couldn't see anything. Gu Yin called out softly a few times, "A-Le, Lele, Gu Xiaole, little brother? Can you hear me?"

She listened quietly for a moment, but there was no sound from inside; clearly, they were still under the influence of drugs.

Gu Yin reached into the ventilation vent and groped around for a while before finally finding a recessed area. She pressed it hard, and with a "crack," the iron bars of the ventilation vent loosened. She pulled hard, and the thing was pulled out. Judging from the length of the iron bars, it was obviously a passage for putting food inside, which was to prevent the children from going hungry when they were sent to other provinces.

There was a hole in the middle of the truck bed, about the size of a porcelain bowl, clearly indicating that the partition was divided in two. Gu Yin parted the straw around the hole and, sure enough, saw a small crack. She reached out and grabbed the opening, trying to lift the partition with all her might, but it wouldn't budge. Gu Yin stood up, bent over, and used all her strength, but it still didn't move. No wonder the switch was inside the ventilation vent; it was to keep people out! Even if the child inside woke up and opened the ventilation vent, they wouldn't be able to lift this thing out of the way, given how heavy it was!

"Girl! What are you doing here? Didn't you see the pigs ran away? Why aren't you calling your parents out!"

A voice came from outside the car. Gu Yin turned her head and saw a burly boy who looked to be about twenty years old. He was wearing slippers and eating an ice pop. She breathed a sigh of relief. He was obviously not one of the human traffickers.

Even though she was just a little girl, Mo Wen was still startled when he met those clear yet sharp eyes. Before he could say anything, he saw that the girl's forehead was covered in blood, and patches of hair around her were obviously stuck together with blood, which was enough to prove how big the wound on her head was!

"You're injured! Were you attacked by a pig? Call an adult right now! Get to the hospital immediately!" Mo Wen stepped forward anxiously.

Gu Yin: "..."

This person seems a bit mentally unstable.

"I'm fine, keep your voice down! It's not safe here!" She then rolled her eyes and beckoned to him.

Mo Wen thought she wanted him to help her up, so he got into the car.

"Hold on here. When I count to three, lift it up with all your might. Understand?" Gu Yin instructed in a low voice.

Mo Wen looked at her with a complicated expression.

Gu Yin was baffled: "Why are you looking at me? Follow my instructions!"

"Your injury wasn't from being gored by a pig, it was from being beaten while stealing a pig, right? Let me tell you, you're still young, you don't know the dangers of being a thief. If you get caught, you won't just get beaten, you'll also have to pay compensation—the cost of several pigs for stealing one! It's not worth it, is it, you..."

"Shut up! I didn't steal a pig!" Gu Yin really wanted to stuff the only pile of pig manure in the truck bed into his mouth! Why does he talk so much!

“Listen carefully, my brother is under this partition. My brother has been arrested. This car belongs to the kidnappers. They are the ones who injured my head. They are resting inside now. If you say a few more words, they will come out! Hurry up and help! I will explain to you after we get him out!” Before he could react, she started counting.

Mo Wen was stunned. The amount of information was too much for him to process. When he heard the number three, he hurriedly followed Gu Yin and exerted force.

Seeing that the partition was still not moving, Gu Yin started to get anxious. Success was just around the corner, her younger brother was inside, but he was stuck on this partition!

"Get up, let me try!" Mo Wen threw his slippers aside, took a deep breath, and stood up. He used all his strength, and the veins on his hands, forehead, and neck bulged out. The partition only rose about one centimeter.

Carefully lowering the partition, Mo Wen shook his head: "No, this is an iron plate, too heavy. We need to call two more people over. I'll wait here, go and call them, and hurry up!"

The person inside could come out at any moment. This boy was just a passerby, and it was too dangerous for him to stay here. She didn't want to drag unrelated people into this, so she refused, saying, "My legs are short, I can't run fast. You go, you run faster, I'll wait for you!"

Thinking about it, it makes sense. Mo Wen got out of the car and ran towards the alley entrance.

Gu Yin put the metal bars of the ventilation vent back in, but didn't fasten them. Then she got out of the truck and was about to close the truck bed door when the large gate next to her creaked open from the inside.

A middle-aged man yawned as he walked out. Seeing Gu Yin by the car, he hurriedly scolded, "Whose child is this? What are you doing here? Get out!"

Gu Yin blinked, turned around and was about to leave when the person's voice rang out.

"Wait a minute! How did my car door open! Where's my pig! Did you do this?!" After saying that, she quickly walked over, grabbed Gu Yin's wrist, and pointed at the empty truck bed, shouting sternly.

Gu Yin struggled with her wrist, but the person gripped it even tighter.

Gu Yin stopped struggling, pointed to the wound on her head, and glared at it, saying, "Did you see that clearly?! Your boar caused this! How am I supposed to know how it got out on its own? I was just passing by, and I got hit like this! I haven't even come to you yet, and you're already blaming me! Pay up! Take me to the hospital for a checkup! Otherwise, I'll call for help! My house is just up ahead!"

Seeing her so self-righteous, the middle-aged man began to doubt himself.

"Who knows if you're telling the truth or not? You stand here and I'll get in the car and check if you're lying! If you're lying, hehe!" After saying that, he spat on the ground and got into the car.

The man walked around the car, then squatted down and looked at the ventilation vent. After glancing at it, he turned to look at Gu Yin. Seeing that she was looking at him, the man didn't pay attention and pushed aside the straw next to him.

Seeing his reaction, Gu Yin's heart tightened. She didn't close the snap at the vent; the man would know if he touched it!

The man reached down and touched the snap, only to find it was loose. His eyes narrowed, and he turned to look at the little girl. She was staring at him with impatience and anger in her eyes, which made him even more puzzled.

He wondered if those two idiots hadn't closed the car door properly when they came back, or if they hadn't checked the latches. Otherwise, he would never have believed a little girl could do this. Besides, those two idiots had a history of this. They'd been on the highway for the past few days, and those two sluts had been itching to get back to work. They must have done it somewhere deserted in the countryside when they went back. Otherwise, why would they go straight to sleep without even eating when they got back? Damn it, what bad luck! Once he got the goods this time, he was definitely going to find a different accomplice!

After thinking for a moment, the man looked at the little girl, who appeared to be eleven or twelve years old. She was already dark-skinned, and the scabs covering her head made her look even worse. However, her eyes were large and bright. He sized her up; she was quite tall, and once she grew up, she should be alright. He figured she could be sold to a place where it was difficult to find a wife, and he could get her a few thousand. Turning to look at the quiet alley, he softened his expression and said gently to the little girl, "The pigsty here is broken. Did you deliberately sabotage it? Come and see for yourself, or you'll accuse me of extortion. We've come all this way to buy pigs, and if you really did it, we'll have to make your parents pay for it. Come and see!"

Thinking of the pig that had escaped, he felt even more heartbroken. He had spent several hundred yuan to buy it, and he could have eaten pork as soon as he left this place. But the meat that was about to be eaten had escaped, which made him even angrier!

Gu Yin saw the scheming in his eyes. Was he trying to abduct her as well?

"I can't get up there, it's too high, and I just got hit by a pig, and I'm still in pain all over! I didn't break it, don't think I'm easy to fool just because I'm a child!" Gu Yin said, pretending to stomp her foot impatiently, and then subtly stretched out her left foot and forcefully hooked out the stone that was placed behind the car tire.

Upon hearing this, the man walked to the car, extended his hands, and said gently, "Come on, come here, I'll pull you up. Go and see for yourself if you broke it. Let's talk after you've checked. There's no point in arguing here! If you really didn't do it, I'll pay for your medical bills!"

Gu Yin pretended to hesitate for a moment, then reached out her left hand and grabbed the man's wrist.

Seeing that she avoided his hand, the man smiled indifferently and let her hold it.

Gu Yin moved her left thumb and pressed it on the other person's Yangxi acupoint, then stepped on the frame with her right foot and looked up: "Step back a little, I need to get on."

The man smiled indifferently, then bent down to prepare.

Gu Yin pressed down hard on the man's Yangxi acupoint with her left hand, quickly hooked the man's lowered neck with her right hand, and slammed her right foot on the bicycle, using all her strength to pull the man off the bicycle and throw him onto the rock that her left foot had hooked earlier.

Before the man could react, his left hand completely lost its strength. Just as he was about to tell the little girl to let go, he was pulled off the car by a heavy force. Before he could react, a sharp pain shot through his ribs, and he fainted.

Seeing that the man was motionless, Gu Yin went over and checked his eyelids. Seeing that he was really unconscious, she went limp, took a deep breath while holding onto the car, grabbed the hemp rope used to tie up pigs, and a handful of straw. She squatted under the car, used the hemp rope to tie the man up, sat next to the tire, and used the wheel for leverage to pull him over. She tied him up around the rear frame of the car, made a tight knot, and then stuffed straw into his mouth. As for whether his ribs were broken or if there were any internal problems, Gu Yin wasn't afraid. These people didn't deserve to die!

Gu Yin didn't dare to rest. She immediately climbed out from under the car, walked to the door, and peered through the crack. She saw that it was quiet inside, so the noise outside hadn't disturbed the people inside.

Back at the car, she had barely sat down when everything went blurry. The sun was too strong, and with her head injury, the intense sun, combined with her constant tension, would have made her faint. If her younger brother hadn't been rescued yet, she would have already passed out.

She closed her eyes for a moment to catch her breath, then heard hurried footsteps coming from the alley entrance. Gu Yin tightened her grip on Che Yan's hands, her eyelids snapped open, and she breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that it was Mo Wen, who had just gone to look for someone.

Gu Yin straightened up and looked at the three burly men who were approaching with a hint of excitement.

Mo Wen ran so much that his slippers were worn out before he finally found two grown men to come over.

“These are our school’s teachers! They all teach physical education! They’re incredibly strong! Don’t worry, they’ll definitely be able to lift that iron plate! I even had one of the teachers report it to the police station!” Mo Wen said, and only after walking closer did he discover the man under the car.

She looked at Gu Yin in horror: "What's wrong with him?!"

Gu Yin first thanked the two teachers gratefully, then whispered, "The human traffickers came from inside. They used some tricks to subdue the person. I won't say more, let's hurry up and save them. We don't know how many people are in that room!" All her tricks were learned from the hardships she endured in her previous life, practically at the cost of her life. Otherwise, how could she have escaped unscathed from various villages all by herself?

The teachers who came along nodded and got into the car. They reached the edge of the deck and pulled together. They managed to lift the iron plate, but only to the width of their palms, and then they couldn't move it any further!

"What's going on?" Mo Wen asked, puzzled.

One of the teachers looked down and said, "There are hidden channels on both sides! It takes two people to open them! But if you leave, the board will fall down immediately!"

"How did they get the child in there? They must have a way! Did they miss something?" Mo Wen became anxious.

Gu Yin was also thinking about this problem. She looked closely at the bottom of the iron plate and found that the bottom of the two hidden grooves was a solid cement pillar with marks on it, obviously caused by excessive friction from something.

Gu Yin's eyes suddenly lit up: "Jack! They must have used a jack!" Before the others could respond, she reached through the truck bed window into the driver's seat, opened the door, and quickly got out to rummage through the toolbox in the cab. Sure enough, she found the tools.

I picked up the entire toolbox and had just reached the back of the car when I saw several people running in from the alley.

Gu Yin's tears streamed down her face and landed on the ground! Her lips moved, as if she wanted to say something, but her mind was a complete mess. Memories of her past life and her present life played out in her mind like a movie.
