Chapter 1022: Chu Yan is back
Feeling the warmth from the blanket and its familiar scent, Chu Yan felt much less tired.
"You came back from the sea, so it's a bit cold. It's Chinese New Year, why are you all alone? Where are the others? Did they go to see a show?"
Gu Yin poured him some hot tea and placed the food in front of Chu Yan: "They went to watch a show. Grandpa and Grandma are playing mahjong with Chu's father and the others next door. I came over to sit for a while. How did you get back?"
After finishing his tea, Chu Yan got up and took off his coat and sweater, leaving only a knitted cashmere inner layer. He then sat down, stretched out his long arm, pulled Gu Yin into his arms, and wrapped a large blanket around the two of them in one smooth motion.
Gu Yin: "...Auntie is still here!"
Chu Yan ignored her and hugged her tightly, burying his face in Gu Yin's neck.
Feeling the scorching heat, Gu Yin didn't push him away, but reached out and ruffled his hair.
"How many days will you be back?"
Chu Yan took a deep breath before looking up: "Chi Ye brought me back from the sea. I didn't go through official channels, but when we entered our country, I contacted my superiors and told them that I had to go back tomorrow night because the people there couldn't hold out for long. I'm sorry."
Time was too short, but he couldn't hold back any longer. His longing was like a wildly growing vine, entangling him so much that he could hardly breathe!
Gu Yin paused upon hearing this, then shook her head: "What are you saying sorry for? I know how difficult it has been for you, and I know you must have prepared for this day for a long time. If anyone should be saying sorry, it should be me. I..."
The apologies that were not yet spoken were all swallowed back down.
My lips went from icy cold to burning hot, and the surrounding air seemed to warm up as well.
Ten minutes later, the two separated.
Gu Yin touched her swollen lips: "Are you a dog? Why are you hitting so hard! It'll be so embarrassing when they all come back and see."
"So what if we see each other? Absence makes the heart grow fonder, isn't that normal? If it weren't for Chinese New Year today, we wouldn't be here right now!"
As for where it is, Gu Yin knows without even thinking!
Gu Yin checked the time; it was already past eleven. Gu Le and Gu Qinglang should land soon, and the others should return shortly after.
So he got up and said, "We prepared a lot of dishes at home today. I'll go heat some up for you. By the way, where's Chi Ye?"
Chu Yan also stood up: "He went to find Chi Xing. It's almost New Year's Eve. You go and get ready first. I'm going to take a shower and then come out to help."
Gu Yin nodded. She had originally thought he would go back to the Chu family, but he actually went to the backyard.
Fine, let him do whatever he wants.
Entering the kitchen, Gu Yin looked at the large pile of food in the refrigerator on the table and began to heat up the dishes one by one.
"Back from the sea, 001, how did Chi Ye manage to bring him back in the dead of winter? Did he just swim back like that?"
001 flew out: "Host, that should be the case. However, given the abilities of the merfolk, your man shouldn't have suffered too much. He can't teleport, but he can still provide shelter from the wind and rain."
Gu Yin thought about the distance between the two countries and murmured softly, "...How long will this take?"
"I'm not sure, you can ask later. But it will probably take three or four hours."
"What are you daydreaming about? The soup's boiling." Chu Yan came in and saw Gu Yin staring blankly, the soup in front of her almost overflowing.
Holding gloves, Chu Yan took the casserole down and looked at Gu Yin.
When Gu Yin saw him, she blurted out, "Did Chi Ye carry you back from the sea? Will it be the same when you go back tomorrow?"
Chu Yan smiled and nodded: "That's right, but don't tell anyone. Chi Ye will feel ashamed. Okay, you can go sit down. I'll take care of the rest. Or you can go and call your parents, grandparents and other family members to come over."
Gu Yin thought of the Chu family and immediately nodded: "I'll go call them!" She then ran over.
The aunt from the Gu family didn't leave immediately after delivering the dishes; she waited until everyone had finished eating before taking them away.
I'm watching TV with the old lady right now.
Seeing Gu Yin come in, she smiled and got up to walk to Gu Yin's side: "What would you like to eat, Miss? I'll get you some! That little bit of barbecue won't fill you up."
Gu Yin shook her head and looked at everyone: "Ayan is back."
The aunt was stunned first, and the others didn't react either; some continued playing mahjong, while others watched TV.
The aunt, who was next to Gu Yin, heard clearly and exclaimed in surprise, "What did you say? Ayan is back?! Chu Yan?!"
The old lady, who had just thought she was hallucinating, immediately stood up: "Ayan's back? Where is she?!"
The others also got up and walked this way.
Gu Yin nodded: "I just came back. I'm making something to eat next door. I'll come and get you. Grandma, be careful! The ground is wet!"
Before Gu Yin could finish speaking, Old Madam Chu jogged over.
Startled, Gu Yin quickly followed and helped the person up.
"I'm fine, I'm doing well. Why is that brat back? Is he hurt?"
Gu Yin helped the old lady through the archway: "She's not hurt, she's fine, don't worry, look, she's right there!"
Just as the two entered the house, Chu Yan came out carrying dishes.
"Ayan! You're really back!!! You brat! You didn't even tell me you were back! I missed you so much!"
The old lady let go of Gu Yin, ran up to her, and hugged Chu Yan tightly.
Chu Yan smiled helplessly and comforted her, "It was a last-minute decision, so I didn't say anything, and I couldn't have said anything anyway, could I? It's been so many years since I last saw you, Grandma, are you still in good health? Don't cry, or Grandpa will beat me if he sees you crying again."
"Am I such an unfeeling person? You brat!" The old man walked in, leaning on his cane.
"Ah Yan!" Yao Jinse sniffed and walked to Chu Yan's side, taking his hand and looking him over.
"It's good that you're back!" Chu Xiong's eyes welled up with tears, and he nodded repeatedly.
The family of five hugged for a while before separating.
"I'm sorry, you must have found this amusing." Old Master Chu wiped his eyes and looked at Zhou Wansheng and Wang Yanzhi beside him.
Zhou Wansheng shook his head and sighed, "It's only human nature. After not seeing him for several years, this kid has grown even more tall and handsome. It's good that he's back after all this hardship."
Wang Yanzhi smiled and nodded: "You looked thinner last time we parted, but you've gained a little weight now."
When she came back last time, she went there for a while and saw Chu Yan once.
At the time, Chu Yan was in the midst of a family civil war, so the two had no chance to speak and simply passed each other by.
After comforting his elders, Chu Yan greeted them, saying, "It's winter, so I've gained weight."
Wang Yanzhi nodded: "I see the food is all prepared. You just got back, you must be hungry. You eat first, don't worry about them! They'll be back in no time."
Chu Yan glanced at the time and nodded: "I'll go get the dishes. Dad and A-Le are already on their way and should be at the door by now. Let's eat together."
