Chapter 71 Are you worthy?

Chapter 71 Are you worthy?

Tuition fees are paid on Saturdays and Sundays, during which time we do a thorough cleaning, and on Mondays we start distributing books and making all sorts of arrangements.

As the vice class monitor, Gu Yin and the other class committee members were very busy. Not only did she have to help the teacher receive parents with questions in the office, but she also had to sit by the window to collect tuition fees when the teacher was busy. Even the big cleaning was arranged by Song Pengfei and her.

Early Monday morning, before dawn, the roadside grass was covered with transparent icicles, and the waterlogged fields were also completely covered with a layer of frost as transparent as glass.

Mischievous children threw stones at the ice, the sound like shattering glass echoing from the field.

Even though she was wearing woolen gloves while riding her bike, Gu Yin's hands were so stiff by the time she got to school that she couldn't move them at all. She took a water bottle to the teachers' office, poured some hot water, and hugged her hands to warm them. Only then did she feel like she was coming back to life.

"Pengfei, go to the classroom and call a few boys over to carry the new books to the distribution center. Gu Yin, you oversee the discipline. You two will distribute the books together later. Tell them to carefully check the books after they receive them to see if any pages are missing or torn. If so, replace them. If there are any missing pages, register them and bring them to me later. After you're done distributing the books, sit in the classroom and wait for me. I'll explain some things in the morning, and then you can go home early. Classes start in the afternoon." Wang Shumei instructed the two of them while she was busy.

Seeing that she had nothing more to say, Gu Yin and Song Pengfei nodded and left the office together, heading towards the classroom.

“During the Spring Festival, I was always thinking about having fun. Now that the Spring Festival is over, I’ve almost forgotten everything I learned last semester. Vice class monitor, what about you?” Song Pengfei said as he walked toward the classroom, glancing at Gu Yin.

After the New Year, perhaps because of the good food or the lack of sun exposure, Song Pengfei noticed that Gu Yin's face had become fuller, looking chubby and rosy, like the longevity peaches his mother made for his grandfather's birthday.

Realizing he had been staring at Gu Yin for a while, Song Pengfei felt embarrassed and quickly turned his head away.

Gu Yin didn't notice. She looked ahead and said softly, "No, I've been reviewing. I was only free from New Year's Eve to the third day of the Lunar New Year. I've been reading all the other time."

She didn't believe Song Pengfei's claim that he only played around and didn't read any books. It's like when someone asks a top student how well they reviewed after the exam, and the top student says they didn't review anything, can't remember anything, and asks what to do for the exam. If you believe that, you've already lost. Often, the person who reviews most thoroughly is the one who says those things!

Song Pengfei was speechless upon hearing Gu Yin's answer. She was already first in the grade, why was she still working so hard?! Was she trying to kill them?!

Gu Yin didn't care what he was thinking. She entered the classroom, stood on the podium, and saw the chaos below. She tapped on the desk and said, "Quiet down, everyone."

Once the classroom quieted down, Gu Yin looked at Song Pengfei.

Song Pengfei called out the names of several male students and asked them to follow him to move the books.

After they left, the people below looked at Gu Yin and asked, "Vice-class teacher, can we go back after distributing the books?"

"Do we have classes this afternoon?"

"When will evening self-study sessions start?"

"Has the class schedule been released yet?"

After they finished asking their questions, Gu Yin told them what she knew: "After distributing the books, we'll wait for the homeroom teacher to come over. We should go back early and continue with classes in the afternoon. I don't know if the timetable has been released yet. We should officially start evening self-study next Sunday. Okay, be quiet when you pick up the books. After you get the books, look through them carefully. If there are any missing pages, missing words, or anything else, come up and exchange them yourself. If you can't exchange them, come here and register them. I will tell the teacher."

When the books were being distributed, there were indeed a few blank copies. There weren't many books left, not enough to go around. Gu Yin registered the names and took them to the office.

As soon as she entered the office, she saw that the person who had struck up a conversation with her twice before was also there. When Gu Yin came in, the person even smiled.

The homeroom teacher of Class 5 looked at the boy in front of her and said with a headache, "Why would you want to transfer to our school? Isn't No. 1 High School a good school?"

Xiang Yang laughed heartily, "It's too far over there, and it's inconvenient. I don't really like it there either. I heard that the teachers and classmates at our No. 2 Middle School are really good, so I came here. Anyway, I'm only in the first year of junior high, so transferring here won't cause any problems."

Just as the teacher was about to say something, a report came from the doorway. The teacher from Class 5, whose desk was near the door, turned around upon hearing the voice, saw Gu Yin, nodded, and let her in.

Just as she turned to continue speaking, she saw the transfer student grinning at Gu Yin.

The homeroom teacher of Class 5 raised an eyebrow: "You two know each other?"

Xiang Yang nodded without explaining.

Gu Yin didn't even glance at him, treating him like a stranger. She walked straight past Xiangyang into the office, told Wang Shumei about the lack of books, and then left.

Just as I turned the corner, a nonchalant voice came from behind me.

"Gu Yin, why are you walking so fast?"

Gu Yin turned around and saw Xiang Yang. She stared at him quietly for a moment, then said coldly, "Who are you?"

She utterly despised people who couldn't read other people's expressions, were self-righteous, and utterly narcissistic!

Xiang Yang's smile vanished instantly, replaced by a sarcastic smirk: "That's no fun. Playing hard to get? I've already given you enough face by chasing you all the way from No. 1 High School to here. Gu Yin, it's not good to push your luck any further."

Actually, it's fake. He used to get into fights at No. 1 High School. It was because No. 1 High School didn't want him that he transferred here.

Gu Yin took a few steps forward, then stopped two steps away from Xiang Yang. She looked him up and down, her cold voice sounding particularly ruthless around the corner.

"With your ugly appearance, you're the top student in your grade? The most handsome guy in the whole school?"

Xiang Yang's face turned pale. He should be ranked last in grades, not the most handsome in the whole school? That shouldn't be the case. He didn't say anything for a moment, and then he heard Gu Yin laugh.

"Ha, so you're playing hard to get? Don't you find that disgusting? You've watched too many movies and think you're the main character? Someone like you doesn't even deserve to be called one!"

Xiang Yang clenched his fists, his gaze towards Gu Yin growing increasingly fierce: "Don't think I don't hit girls!"

Gu Yin turned around expressionlessly and said calmly, "I'll wait." Then she walked slowly towards the classroom.

Gu Yin originally thought that Xiang Yang would stop her after school and beat her up or something, but a week passed and he still didn't do anything. Gu Yin didn't care. Anyway, to deal with people like that, she would fight one by one, and if ten came, she would call the police!
