Chapter 323 Awakening
"I'm so thirsty," was Gu Yin's first thought upon regaining consciousness.
I groggily opened my eyes and saw a haggard face and bloodshot eyes.
Gu Yin blinked, finally snapping out of her daze.
"Chu Yan, what are you doing here? Where are my brother and grandfather? And the others? How are they?"
After Gu Yin finished speaking, she tried to get up, but her whole body ached as if she had been run over by a car wheel, and she couldn't get up at all.
Chu reached out and put his arm around Gu Yin's shoulder, adjusted the hospital bed for her, gently laid her down, poured her a glass of water, and then sat down on the edge of the bed.
She said softly, "Grandpa Zhou and Ah Le are fine. They are in the next ward, but they haven't woken up yet. When the incident happened, Grandpa Zhou contacted Uncle Gu, and Uncle Gu contacted me after he found out. As soon as I found out, I brought my team over."
Knowing that Gu Yin wanted to know the situation, Chu Yan continued, "We are currently in China. Three days have passed since the incident. After receiving the news, we rushed over immediately. Although the mine you were in wasn't completely flattened, it collapsed entirely. You were buried at the bottom of the mountain. Since the people buried inside were all from various families, clearing a mountain wasn't difficult. When we dug down the protective shield, we found you all unconscious inside. The shield shattered at the slightest touch. Fortunately, you were unharmed; you were probably just stunned by the aftershocks. After finding you, we immediately took you home. As for the cause of this incident, Wu Ye's rival family planned to kill everyone inside. If anyone had an accident in Wu Ye's mine, Wu Ye's family would have to bear the retaliation from the victim's family. That was their intention. However, you discovered the bomb in advance, ensuring that no one was injured, and their plan fell through. Instead, Wu Ye's family absorbed the rival family because of this incident and became the largest power in Myanmar. This information came from them yesterday."
Gu Yin recalled the scene at the time, and it seemed that Wu Ye's protective shield had worked. There was no danger to his life, and the injuries were nothing serious.
Gu Yin looked around: "Where are we now?"
"In Hong Kong, I returned on the Zhou family's private plane, which is closer to here."
Chu Yan took the water glass from her hand: "Want some more?"
Gu Yin shook her head: "Where are my parents?"
Chu Yan poured out the chicken soup that had been kept warm and handed it to Gu Yin.
Gu Yin smelled the aroma, and her stomach rumbled involuntarily. She smiled and accepted it.
“When the accident happened to you, your uncle and the others didn’t tell your grandpa and the others. Yesterday, your biology teacher couldn’t find you, so she contacted your family. Your grandma couldn’t reach you either, so she contacted Grandma Wang. At that time, you had already returned here and were in good health, so we told them about the accident. This morning, they rushed here from their hometown. Your uncle went to pick them up, and they should be arriving soon.”
No sooner had he finished speaking than the door was pushed open from the outside in.
Gu Yin tilted her head and saw the entire Gu family walk in.
Everyone was pleasantly surprised to see Gu Yin leaning against the bed, holding a bowl and drinking soup.
"You're finally awake! Is anything bothering you?" Li Mengxin asked with concern.
Gu Yin smiled and shook her head: "No, I'm just hungry."
Gu Qinglang smiled wearily, "You've been unconscious for three days! You haven't eaten anything, how could you not be hungry! Drink more soup, and after you wake up, you can have another check-up and then go home!"
The old lady pushed them aside, sat down on the edge of the bed, and said with a worried expression, "From now on, you'd better study at school properly. You almost scared us to death when you went out that one time! Look how thin you've gotten, you've suffered so much!"
Gu Yin held her hand and smiled, "This was an accident. I'm sorry to have worried you, Grandma. You've lost weight? No wonder I feel so hungry. I want to eat Grandma's stewed chicken!"
As a family member, the old lady must have had some complaints about what happened to Master Zhou when he took people out, but Gu Yin couldn't complain. First, she went out voluntarily, and second, it really was an accident. So she could only change the subject and make the old lady stop worrying about who was right and who was wrong.
The old lady knew Gu Yin was changing the subject, so she didn't say anything more. Instead, she smiled and said, "The chickens here aren't as good as the free-range ones at home. When we get back, I'll stew them for you! One a day is no problem!"
After chatting for a while, Gu Le and Zhou Wansheng woke up. Gu Yin told them to go check on them while she rested a bit more.
After everyone left, Gu Yin looked at Chu Yan and asked, "Aren't you going?"
Chu Yan lowered the bed: "I'm not going. I'll stay here. You should get some sleep. You just woke up and your mind hasn't recovered yet. You need to rest more."
Gu Yin nodded, closed her eyes, and turned to enter the system space.
001 saw Gu Yin come in and circled around her, asking, "Are you alright?!"
Gu Yin nodded: "Did you reinforce the protective shield?" Wu Ye was certainly aware of his protective shield. Although he said he was leaving it to fate, he actually knew that the protective shield was not very useful at all.
So when Gu Yin woke up and heard Chu Yan say that they were all fine, just unconscious, she knew that 001 had made a move.
001 nodded: "If I don't strengthen it, you'll all be gone! This is a society governed by law, it's too chaotic over there!"
Gu Yin smiled and held 001 in her hands: "Thank you so much this time! 001 is indeed the most powerful system! That place is a no-man's land, and the government can't do much to the local armed forces. Chaos is inevitable. Unlike our country, which is a society governed by law, mercenaries can't even get in, let alone weapons!"
After Gu Yin finished speaking, she took out the things she had collected before she fainted.
"Should I just put this in the trade window?"
001 shook his head: "You have to untie it. The thing inside isn't solid; it's liquid. You'll need something to put it in! Wait a minute!"
001 fiddled with it for a moment, then took out a jade teardrop-shaped bottle and handed it to Gu Yin: "Use this to hold the water."
Gu Yin looked at the stone, then at 001: "How am I supposed to drive it? I don't have any tools."
001: "...Sigh!" After sighing, she took out another tool and handed it to Gu Yin.
"Pound it!"
Gu Yin took a nail about the thickness of a finger and a small iron hammer, and tried hammering it on the stone a couple of times.
Then a hole was drilled into the stone.
Gu Yin looked at the two tools in surprise; these two things were definitely different from the ones she had seen outside!
001 didn't even let her look at the things carefully before taking them away.
Gu Yin smiled and placed the jade bottle at the entrance of the cave. In a short while, a white, fragrant, and pure liquid flowed out from inside!
It only stopped flowing when the bottle was completely filled.
"How much can this bottle hold?" Gu Yin asked 001.
"One jin (500 grams)."
Gu Yin tightened the bottle cap, clicked on the mall system, found the cultivation world page, and listed the item in the sales section.
"What's this called?" Gu Yin was stunned when she wrote the name.
Chalcedony.
After Gu Yin wrote down the name, she filled in 1 liang in the quantity field.
001: "...It has to be you! How do you know how to do this?!" It originally thought Gu Yin would put the whole bottle on, but she only put in one-tenth! So clever! That move was amazing!
Gu Yin smiled and nodded: "This thing is hard to come by, so we definitely have to be careful with it!"
Once it's confirmed, the item will be displayed there, waiting for someone to come and buy it. She can then make her request.
In mid-July, the weather grew increasingly hot, with cicadas and crickets chirping in waves.
Under the shade of a tree, Gu Yin was lying in a rocking chair, leisurely eating fruit.
Spitting out the fruit pit, Gu Yin looked at the vegetable garden and said helplessly, "It's so hot! You just came out of the hospital, and you're already out in the sun. Is catching crickets really that fun?"
It's been three days since Gu Yin returned to Lijia Village from Gangcheng. She spends her days eating and lying down, enjoying a rare moment of leisure and happiness. She simply cannot understand Gu Le, who spends all day in the vegetable garden fiddling with this and that in this sweltering heat, until he's completely tanned!
"It's so much fun! Even if I don't catch them, they're so noisy that I can't sleep at night! I can even make money by catching them! Two yuan each! That's enough to buy four popsicles!" Gu Le ran to the well with a water bottle in his hand, filled it up, and then ran back to the vegetable garden. He was shirtless, and the once fair-skinned child was now all black!
Gu Yin picked up a book and covered her head, trying to avoid seeing it.
