Chapter 210 No Early Romantic Relationships!
Before Gu Yin could ask any more questions, she heard Gu Shu and Chu Yan talking outside.
"Ayin and Ale! Come out and eat star fruit! Star fruit that's both sour and sweet!" Gu Shu called out as she entered the room, carrying a bag of star fruit.
Gu Yin got up and looked in the mirror. Her eyes were a little red and swollen, but you probably wouldn't notice if you weren't paying attention.
"Let's go out and take a look." After saying that, he took Gu Le's hand and went out the door.
"Where did you get the starfruit?" Gu Yin walked to the well and helped wash it.
The star fruit, about the size of a duck egg, was greenish-yellow and didn't look like the variety sold in the market.
Gu Shu washed one, picked it up, and took a bite: "Sweet and sour! It's quite delicious! I ran into the old village chief on the way down from the back mountain! He gave it to us! He said that many of the wild fruits on the back mountain were ripe, and he picked some to bring back. When he saw us, he gave us some!"
There are indeed many wild fruits ripening at this time of year; we can check them out when we go mushroom hunting tomorrow.
"for you."
As Gu Yin was lost in thought, a slender, strong hand with distinct knuckles was offered to her.
In my palm were wild black grapes, washed until they were crystal clear.
Gu Yin looked at the owner of the hand and smiled, "How did you get this? Did the old village chief give it to you too?"
Chu Yan nodded: "Yes, here you go."
Gu Yin smiled and reached out to take a string of them.
Chu Yan noticed that her eyes were slightly red and her eye bags were slightly swollen. He wanted to ask her what was wrong, but seeing that she didn't seem to care, Chu Yan pretended not to know anything about her unusual behavior.
"There's another one, you..."
Before she could finish speaking, Gu Le hugged Chu Yan tightly, looking at him expectantly.
Seeing this, Gu Shu, who was standing next to him, also smiled and stretched out his hands: "Old village chief is biased. There are three of us, why are you only given grapes!"
Chu Yan smiled and said, "Who told me I'm the best looking?" Then he handed the rest of the string to Gu Le.
Not many wild grapes were picked; the old village chief had clearly favored Chu Yan because his grapes were so good, giving him two bunches out of partiality.
After receiving the grapes, Gu Le smiled so hard her eyes narrowed. She ate one herself and then fed one to Chu Yan.
Chu Yan refused to eat, so he stuffed it into Chu Yan's mouth.
Chu Yan reached out and patted Gu Le's shoulder: "It's too sweet, I don't like it, you eat it yourself."
This little brat seems to have a natural affinity for people; he's not afraid of him at all. The kids in the villa complex in Beijing all run away in a panic when they see him, they'd probably lose their shoes. They wouldn't dare feed him like that. This little brat has some nerve.
Gu Le nodded and sat down next to his older sister, each with a bunch of grapes, eating and spitting out the seeds.
Chu Yan's lips curled up into a smile, like two groundhogs.
Seeing Chu Yan smiling at the two of them, Gu Yin tilted her head in confusion. Seeing his blank expression, Gu Yin reached out her hand: "Eat?"
Chu Yan blinked, sat down, took one from Gu Yin's hand, and slowly began to eat it.
Seeing his reaction, Gu Yin assumed he was embarrassed to eat Gu Le's food, so she smiled and continued eating without saying anything, only slightly moving her raised hand to the side.
Gu Le looked at Chu Yan in surprise. Didn't he not like to eat it?
Qin Heng saw everything they had, and he looked at Chu Yan with a meaningful gaze.
Chu Yan smiled at him and continued to reach out to take the grapes from Gu Yin's hand.
Qin Heng smiled slightly, then lowered his head to continue washing the starfruit, not glancing over there again.
Seeing that the other person was no longer looking here, Chu Yan turned to Gu Yin and asked, "Are there still snails in the river now?"
Gu Yin nodded: "Yes, do you want to eat snails?"
“I saw the photos you were looking for on Ashu’s Penguin Circle before, and they looked quite interesting.”
Hearing the unspoken meaning, Gu Yin clapped her hands: "Shall we wait?"
Since I have nothing to do in the afternoon, going snail hunting sounds like a good idea!
Seeing her like this, Chu Yan smiled and said, "Didn't we say we were going mushroom picking tomorrow?"
Gu Yin understood, so she decided to go today!
After Gu Hua returned, the group changed into slippers and headed to the river with buckets.
October is actually the dry season, but the crops planted around the reservoir still need water, so the reservoir has not been closed. There is still water in the river, but it is not very deep. When Gu Shu went into the water, the water only reached his knees.
Gu Yin originally thought Chu Yan would be on the shore using a net to fish, but without saying a word, he followed Gu Shu into the water and went down himself.
He would quickly pick up any snails he saw, and even if he came across dead snails that smelled terrible, he would throw them away without batting an eye and continue searching, without the slightest bit of disgust.
"Come here, my hands are full," Chu Yan called out to Gu Yin.
Gu Yin, Gu Hua, and Gu Le did not go into the water. They each carried a bucket and were responsible for putting snails into the water for the three of them. Gu Yin was originally waiting in front of Gu Shu. When Chu Yan called her, she got up and went over.
"Do you want to wear gloves when you handle snails?" Gu Yin suggested, looking at her hands, which were so dark that their original skin color was no longer visible.
Chu Yan shook his head: "No need."
After saying that, he washed his hands and put the hat on Gu Yin's head.
"Even though the sun isn't strong, you still need to be careful about sun protection. Wear it."
After saying that, he continued to look down and grope.
"My book, you two are both over there! Where am I supposed to put it? Someone come stand next to me!"
Gu Shu's helpless voice came from the side.
Gu Yin turned around and saw Gu Le hiding at her feet, looking curiously at Gu Yin and then at Chu Yan.
Gu Yin: "...Go over there." Gu Yin nudged Gu Le's foot, signaling him to go to Gu Shu.
Gu Le got up, ready to leave, but then remembered something and turned back, whispering, "No early dating allowed!" After saying that, she picked up the bucket and jogged towards Gu Shu's location.
Chu Yan also heard Gu Le's words, and he looked up at Gu Yin.
Gu Yin told him to look at her, then turned her head away slightly, feeling a little embarrassed. But then she realized that he was the one who was interested in her! Why was she turning her head away? With that thought, she turned back and stared at Chu Yan.
Seeing her like an angry rabbit with a smirk on her face, Chu Yan lowered her head and continued touching the snails.
The group worked until after 4 p.m. before carrying a full bucket of snails home.
"Wow! You picked up so many! I just bought two big geese on the street a couple of days ago, and I'm going to kill one of them to stew with snails the day after tomorrow! It'll be incredibly fresh!"
The old lady saw a bucket full of snails! She smiled and went over to take them, then filled an empty basin with water to soak them.
Because it's National Day, the shopping mall is having a promotion, so the other adults in the family aren't coming back recently and are staying at the house in the county.
That evening, the old lady killed a hen, tore open some matsutake mushrooms, put them in the hen and stewed them together. When it was cooked, the aroma wafted all the way to the village entrance!
Even a picky eater like Chu Yan ate a full three bowls of rice that night!
As night fell, the village gradually fell silent.
By nine o'clock, almost everyone in the village was asleep.
Gu Yin drank too much soup today, and when she got up in the middle of the night, she checked her phone and found it was only eleven o'clock.
When she opened the door to go to the toilet and came back, she saw Chu Yan sitting on a recliner in the yard, not making a sound, which startled her.
"Why are you sleeping here? Are you not used to it? Or are you having trouble sleeping in this bed?" Gu Yin walked over and saw that his eyes were open, so she asked in confusion.
Chu Yan shook his head: "I just finished working and ate a bit too much today, so I came out to sit for a while."
Seeing that Gu Yin was wearing a coat, Chu Yan pointed to the chair opposite him and said, "Sit down and let's chat."
