Chapter 155: Give the frog prince a kiss and he will give you one back

"Have you studied art? Lannister, I would like you to join me in examining the sculptures and paintings here."

Olgierd took Lann to the collection room without explanation and showed him a stone sculpture that could not be described in words:

"There are only a few types of statues that are valuable: gods, kings, and naked women. This is a naked fairy, so in theory it should be the most valuable."

"That's one of the reasons why the owner of the manor was in huge debt. He had spent almost all of his fortune to buy it, expecting it to appreciate in value. But its author suddenly became infamous, and the value of his work depreciated along with it."

Olgierd turned to Lann. "But I think the value of a work of art should not be determined solely by the fame of its creator. What do you think of that, Lannister?"

Lan looked at the statue in front of him, its pointed ears, its long, smooth hair, and the scent of the lake and forest vegetation that he seemed to be able to feel just by looking at it.

He shrugged. "It's hard for me to be objective, because I just saw the real statue not long ago, and she gave me a sword."

Olgierd looked interested. "The Lady of the Lake's Griffin Rider, huh? I heard that. It seems your life is much more interesting than mine."

The leader of the wild boar army suddenly lost interest: "If you take away the halo of the famous artist, and if you strip away the meaning given by the sculpture prototype, this thing is just a piece of stone - a lifeless and lifeless stone."

Ogierd suddenly exerted force and punched the statue of the fairy in the lake.

His strength was so great that the lifelike statue actually shattered under his fist, and the broken stones flew and hit him.

He had great strength, but he was still made of flesh and blood. When Lann saw Ogierd pull out his fist, the surface of his fist was bruised and swollen, and there were a lot of bloody cuts from the sharp edges of the stone, which almost dyed his sleeves red.

But Ogierd seemed to feel nothing. He nonchalantly took the silk that was originally used to cover the stone sculpture to prevent dust and wiped it on his fist.

In just a breath of time, the scarred fist was restored to its original state, leaving only one or two scars that were barely visible to the naked eye.

He turned toward Lane, and with a wave of his right hand he pushed the rest of the statue to the ground, saying, "Now this is the only way this statue can give me some pleasure - only this little pleasure."

Lan En clapped his hands softly: "You really have noble aspirations."

"I thought you'd be wondering about my hand first, since that's what everyone notices first," Olgierd said. "But that's all right. Let's get down to business - why have you come to me, and has Vizimir II finally decided to take action against me?"

Lann shook his head. He did not intend to hide his purpose. "Vizmir II does want to attack you, but he has not yet said that he must kill you. And the main reason I came here this time is not because of him, but..."

"It's because of me."

Lan's words were suddenly interrupted.

In the secret room of two people, the voice of a third person was heard.

The statue that fell to the ground splashed stones, but it was frozen in mid-air and did not move; the silk that Ogierd threw aside after wiping his fist slowly fell, but it seemed that it would never reach the bottom; the wild boar army outside the manor, which had originally heard the thunderous shouts, seemed to have exhausted all its strength in an instant and fell into a silence like a deep pool in the canyon.

The familiar scene appeared again, but this time it was no longer one-on-one. There were three people who could move in this seemingly stagnant time and space.

Lan and Ogierd turned around together, and the man still appeared before them.

With a short stubble that was almost bald, the dusty wandering merchant stepped into the collection room with a reserved and polite smile.

"Also, his body is immortal, and I gave him this ability." Master Mirror pointed to Olgierd's hand, which had recovered in an instant, and took the initiative to introduce it to Lann. "If you want this kind of power, I can give it to you later."

Master Mirror put his hands together and placed them on his chest, looking very gentle. The other two people in the room had different reactions to his arrival.

Lann said expressionlessly: "I was still wondering when you would contact me. At first I thought it would be the first time I arrived in Novigrad."

Olgierd looked disgusted. "Gaunt O'Dimm, are you looking for poor fellows around here again to spread your disgusting rumors?"

After Ogierd finished speaking, he suddenly realized something and turned to look at Lann in surprise. He now finally understood Lann's intention, which he had not guessed at first.

"No, no, this time I'm here to collect a debt. Send my agent to fulfill your three wishes. Lann is the partner I chose this time."

Olgierd's eyes suddenly changed. It was not a look of vigilance, but an indescribable... self-mockery?

"I see, I see. I've heard the rumors, Lannister. What do you want? Your yellow eyes? Your princess? Or Cintra, who is still alive? With all due respect, no deal with the devil ends well."

Lan En said expressionlessly: "Since you can say such a thing, I believe that with your experience you should understand what it means to be 'out of one's control'."

Master Mirror smiled and said, "Don't be like this, Lann. The friendship between us is purer than any cold transaction. You are the most special."

A demon who made a deal, a dirty soul targeted by the demon, and a spokesperson driven by the demon. The three creatures in the room each occupied a corner, forming a vague triangle confrontation formation.

Finally, it was Olgierd who broke the silence. He was the first to attack the Mirror Master:

"Since you have already chosen your spokesperson, then according to the rules, what happens afterwards has nothing to do with you. Go away, Gaunt O'Dimm, you are not welcome in any space within my sight!"

It is really hard to imagine that such a conversation could be uttered by a human being facing the Master of Mirror.

Olgierd moved closer and closer to the Mirror Master until he was almost face to face with him.

His gaze was unyielding, and in Lan's eyes it was like an ant trying to shake a mountain.

But the reaction of the Mirror Master was unexpectedly tolerant. With the ability to change the weather at the touch of a button, he looked at Ogierd without a trace of anger in his eyes.

Those eyes were filled with rich and difficult to read emotions, which gradually infected the polite and elegant smile on his face.

"Of course, Olgierd, according to the rules, you are right."

"Then the rest of the time will be up to you. You two should get along well with each other."

Master Mirror took two steps back, swung his left hand behind him, and placed his right hand on his chest, actually performing a court salute like a minister meeting the emperor. There was nothing wrong with his posture.

Then, in a way that neither Lann nor Ogierd could react to, the Mirror Master disappeared from the room as if a frame had been pulled out.

Stones flew out of the statue and continued to splash. Silk floated to the ground and outside the manor the noise of the wild boar army's revelry could be heard again.

The world returned to peace.

Olgierd shook his head in the direction where the Mirror Master disappeared and sighed, "What a strange fate! You, the earl of Cintra, have now become a demon hunter; and I, a descendant of the founding heroes of Redania, have now become the leader of a bandit gang. I don't know where I will be tomorrow."

Lann had been expressionless since he came in. "But I can be sure that we have come to this point by our own choice. In other words: you asked for it."

Olgierd chuckled. "Then under the current circumstances, I must kill you, Lannister."

"Stop talking nonsense and tell me your three wishes." Lan En didn't want to exchange pleasantries anymore. "We are tired of each other, so it's better to deal with business matters. I also want to start my work quickly. There are still many things waiting for me to do later."

"How boring, Lannister, how boring. I thought you were someone with a sense of humor." Olgierd leaned on the table with his hands, looking disappointed.

"After the deal between me and Gaunt O'Dimm, I felt that the things around me gradually lost their appeal to me. I had love, wealth, and subordinates, but I had lost happiness. I have been looking for something that could make my heart beat even a little faster, but I have never found anything."

Lann folded his arms across his chest and leaned against the wall. "I am glad to hear you begin to pour out your inner story. Since you have said so much, you must have thought of something that makes your stone heart beat. Do you suggest that you continue to share with me?"

"Yes, Lannister, this is a more humorous way to do things." Olgierd laughed and clapped. "What do you think of chivalrous behavior? This also suits your rumors, and even more so your eyes."

Lann held out his hand in an inviting gesture, willing to hear more.

"There's a rumor going around in Novigrad recently that a prince has turned into a giant toad and is wandering in the sewers. A true love's kiss can turn the toad back into a prince, and the girl who gives the kiss can become the prince's true love."

Olgierd went outside the collection room and took a piece of yellow paper nailed to the wall. On it was a picture of an ugly toad with bared fangs and claws.

"Many girls have disappeared. They have tried one after another - after all, you know, when it comes to princes, girls always lose their minds. One of them is my cook. After she left, I didn't hold a party for a long time because she was the only one who could make me taste the food."

"So I have my first wish. Listen carefully, Lannister: help me kill that giant toad... No, that's too boring. Help me catch it alive and bring it back."

Olgierd denied it immediately after he said it, and added a more difficult request.

Lan asked, "What happens after we catch them alive?"

Olgierd said matter-of-factly, "I will kill it."

Lann didn't believe Ogierd's lies, he knew there were other dangers in this mission.

He looked Olgierd in the eye. "Even if it's for fun, this kind of chivalrous business is not for you. Tell me, Olgierd, what are you thinking? There must be something else behind this story. This is your last chance."

Olgierd sneered, "Why, you don't even dare to go after a giant toad? It's just a rare monster. It won't cause you any other trouble."
