Chapter 4: The Lannisters have their own family traditions

As a distant relative of the Queen, who was a character who could be written into poetry for having won a battle at the age of fifteen, Lann's father naturally became a die-hard fan of the Queen. Not only did he try his best to join the Queen's guards and fight with her, but he also pursued the same title as the Queen.

Ha, the queen is a "lioness", you want to be a "lion", what are you thinking? Even if Her Majesty the Queen has the final say in this country, don't you still look down on the king?

Lan's father had been pursuing the title of "Lion" until he was almost 30 years old. He was eventually forced by other elders to get married, and then Lan was born. After marriage, they were able to respect each other and were kind to Lan.

The Lannister knight finally blocked an arrow for the queen in a foreign war, and killed three enemies alone and led the queen out of the siege, but died of exhaustion. After the victory of the war, the bard wrote about him in poems as "the lion's guard" and "the lion-like brave knight", which was considered to be a wish come true.

The Lion Knight died protecting his queen.

Her Majesty the Queen later conferred upon Lannister the title of hereditary earl and allowed his family to establish their own family name after him.

As a "lion fanatic", Lannister had already prepared lion emblems and other things without anyone knowing, originally just for his own collection. As a result, now he has the family emblem and other things, and Lannister has become a veritable "lion family".

It is sad that Lann's mother, the Countess of Lannister, truly loves her husband.

When he was young, Lannister was brave and handsome. In his private life, he kept himself clean for well-known reasons and had always been the dream lover of the girls of Cintra.

Lady Lannister, who had always listened to the legends of the Lannister knights, always regarded marrying her dream lover as the greatest luck of her life. Not long after her husband's death, she died of depression, leaving behind her son Lann alone.

Lann fell seriously ill as a result, and the new "Lion Family" was almost wiped out, which gave the souls from Earth an opportunity to take advantage of it.

"You will definitely be better than the master." The old butler looked at the handsome young man in the mirror, and was filled with mixed emotions for a moment. Many years ago, he personally dressed a handsome young man in gorgeous clothes and conferred him a title.

"You will definitely be better than the master." The old butler emphasized again, "The master and the lady firmly believe in this."

Lan went forward and gently hugged the old man, but he waved his hand and held him down. The butler began to tidy up his clothes and hair, which had been neatly arranged by Hardy.

The door of the castle hall was opened, and the spacious and neatly arranged banquet tables on both sides of the wall were now full of people.

Seeing Lann coming, the originally noisy crowd suddenly lowered their tone. Familiar nobles greeted Lann politely; knights with whom he had a relationship embraced Lann warmly; noble ladies turned half their bodies away with blushing faces, and stared at him straight after Lann passed by.

The queen and the king sat on two thrones at the end, with a particularly sumptuous meal in front of them. The runner-up of the tournament stood by in armor, and when he saw Lan's smiling face, he rolled his eyes.

He is the queen's guard, and he might not be able to eat during the entire banquet and have to stand the whole time.

Of course, as the protagonist, Lann couldn't really enjoy the banquet.

There was a smaller throne of the same model next to the queen. A little gray-haired girl was sitting on it, moving her head and eyes restlessly. When she saw Lan coming, she was about to stand up and greet him excitedly, but was immediately pushed down by the nanny behind her.

Lann saluted to the queen and the king at the foot of the throne steps. The nobles below also quieted down upon seeing this, knowing that the real show was about to begin.

Queen Calanthe stood up with a smile, raised her wine glass in her left hand and gestured to the nobles sitting below:

"Everyone, the one standing down here now is the son of Lannister, my nephew, and the champion of this tourney. I'm sure you all know that!"

"Lane!" Someone cheered from the audience.

Lan nodded politely to all around him, smiling, humble and polite.

"Originally, I planned to canonize the champion of this tournament as a knight and give him the honor of joining my guard." Calanthe smiled, "But now it is obviously inappropriate."

The knights and nobles below laughed in unison.

"So, I decided to give Lann an extra piece of territory!" Calanthe said loudly, causing a burst of exclamations. "At the same time, I also completed something that should have been done long ago - officially conferring my nephew the title of Earl Lannister to inherit my brother!"

Deafening cheers and applause suddenly rang out in the banquet hall. Queen Calanthe slowly walked down the steps, and Lann took a step back, knelt on one knee, and handed over his sword.

The queen drew her sword and solemnly tapped Lan's shoulder. The gray-haired girl stared at the blond young man intently. No one cared that she stood up involuntarily, and even the nanny behind her was attracted by the blond young man.

The two people in the ceremony were the only focus of the whole place. Two rows of ceremonial officers came out from the side and presented the earl's cloak and other ceremonial objects on plates covered with red velvet.

"Lannister!"

The solemn ceremony ended, and someone started shouting, but cheers rang out again in the banquet hall.

"Lan! Lan!" the gray-haired girl jumped and shouted excitedly.

Queen Calanthe opened her arms and asked everyone to be quiet. She helped Lann up and asked him to walk aside. She faced almost all the civil and military officials of Cintra who had gathered at the scene and said loudly:

"In addition to my nephew's canonization ceremony, I have another announcement to make today."

"In recent years, the Nilfgaardians have been harassing us constantly. Although we have forcefully driven them away time and time again, they are like fleas on a wild boar and can never be driven away!"

"Yes!" Some drunken general shouted indignantly, "But we are not afraid of the Nilfgaardians, and we are even less afraid of war!"

“Yes, yes.” Queen Calanthe nodded and signaled the general’s family to take good care of him. “But now, we don’t have to worry about the Nilfgaardians anymore, because we have found a new ally—the Kingdom of Verden.”

"My granddaughter Ciri has reached the age to choose a husband. I have decided to marry her to Prince Christian of Weiden. As a betrothal gift, Weiden will give us a considerable army. From now on, Weiden will become more inseparable from us!"

The banquet hall suddenly fell silent.

Everyone looked at each other, not knowing who started it, but soon they burst into warm cheers.

The queen nodded with satisfaction and slowly sat back on her throne to enjoy the wine.

Gray-haired Ciri sat in her little seat, stunned, and was pushed back to her seat by the nanny before everyone's attention was focused on her.

As the wine flowed, Lan heard someone muttering, "Isn't Weiden our vassal? Why should our princess marry?"
