At this time, the lights in the underground parking lot suddenly came on.
Li Yi saw a group of people gathered in the area where he stored the generators.
They were wearing tattered down jackets, and some women were holding children wrapped in quilts covered with oil and mud in their arms.
Many adults around were leading children who were covered in dirty quilts and had pale and skinny faces.
Seeing Li Yi rushing in with his armored vehicle at high speed, these people were obviously a little panicked.
He tried to hide in a safe place with his legs that were no longer stable.
"Don't panic, everyone!"
"I'm the owner of the villa complex next door!"
"It's right across from our community, just across the road!"
Li Yi shouted to everyone through the loudspeaker on the armored vehicle.
When everyone heard Li Yi's words, they all stopped.
These people turned around and looked at Li Yi's armored vehicle. The children were so scared that they hid behind the adults, revealing half of their heads and staring at Li Yi nervously.
Although they had only run a few steps, those people were already exhausted and out of breath. Some even squatted on the ground to recover the strength they had just lost.
Li Yi could clearly see the rapid rise and fall of their chests and the white steam continuously spewing out of their mouths.
Li Yi stopped the car 20 meters away from the crowd.
Open the rear door of the armored vehicle and drag out some of the food that had just been released inside.
"This is food, share it with everyone!"
Li Yi pointed to a pile of food on the ground and said to everyone.
The frightened children just now ran over first after seeing the food.
Everyone stuffed their mouths with food, even eating the wrappers.
Each person held the largest amount of food they could hold, hunched over and returned to the crowd, distributing the food to their family, friends or familiar people around them.
After everyone received the food, they distributed it to younger children and women with children.
Li Yi was also moved by the scene in front of him.
"The brilliance of humanity shining beneath the icy apocalypse!"
Li Yi couldn't help but utter a word with his lips that only he could hear.
Li Yi, who had recovered from his moved state, continued to drag supplies out of the car.
"Everyone come and get it!"
"There are more here, a lot more!" Li Yi said to everyone.
All the people came over one after another.
"Thank you...thank you...! Thank you...thank you..."
Perhaps they were too weak, so the people who were chewing their food in big mouthfuls used their last bit of strength to express their gratitude to Li Yi.
“Eat slowly!”
"There are many more!" Li Yi looked at the people in front of him with sympathy.
Suddenly, a man in the crowd opened his mouth, stared with his eyes, and grabbed his neck tightly. His face was flushed red and he made a humming sound. Everyone looked at the man in horror.
Li Yi rushed directly to the man, put his hands on his shoulders and patted his back hard.
After a few seconds, the man bent over and gasped for breath.
"Thanks..."
The man tried hard to turn his head and look at Li Yi.
“Drink some water!”
Li Yi handed a bottle of water to the man.
"Don't worry, he just choked." Li
Wing said to everyone.
"Everyone, eat slowly. You haven't eaten in a while. Don't eat too much for the first time."
"Increase your food intake gradually, otherwise your body won't be able to handle it!"
Li Yi reminded everyone.
After eating the food, these people seemed to recover a little.
"Which neighborhood are you from?"
Li Yi asked a man in the crowd.
“We are the owners of this community.”
The man looked at Li Yi with gratitude.
“How many people are there in this neighborhood?”
Li Yi asked, looking at the crowd.
"There were less than 300 people in the community before, but now there are only more than 100 left," the man replied.
"Where are the others?" Li Yi asked.
"Some of the others left shortly after the apocalypse, and no one knows what happened to them now. More than 100 people died of freezing or starvation."
"Those who froze to death were buried in the snow outside."
The man replied weakly.
"The rest are mostly women and children and some men."
The man continued.
"How did you survive?"
Li Yi asked, looking at the group of poor children.
With trembling hands, the man took out an egg-sized object wrapped tightly in a plastic bag from the pocket of his tattered down jacket.
"We survived thanks to this sugar."
"There used to be a sugar business in our neighborhood. He had several tons of sugar stored in the basement, and then everyone divided the sugar up... cough cough cough..."
The man spoke with great effort, and perhaps because he talked too much, he coughed a little.
"How can others starve to death with all this sugar?"
Li Yi asked doubtfully.
"After receiving their share of sugar, many male business owners didn't eat it themselves and left it all for their wives and children."
"I hope they can hold out until the end of the world," the man said numbly.
Bursts of sobbing sounds began to be heard from the crowd, as if they were the wives and children of those who had left sugar for their wives and daughters and starved to death.
Li Yi was once again moved by the spirit of those people.
"Please start a few of these generators to supply electricity to the community first."
"As for food, I still have some here, enough to meet everyone's basic survival needs."
Li Yi said to everyone.
"Who among you is in charge here?"
