Zhou Bingchen rushed into the generator room that had been prepared in advance and kept pressing the generator switch, but found that the surroundings were still terribly dark.
Suddenly, a chill ran from the soles of my feet to the top of my head.
There were nearly a hundred bodyguards, nearly ten maids, and a housekeeper in the villa. How was it possible that no one noticed that the power was out and there was no sound?
He turned quickly and ran madly towards the children's nursery.
Just as he rushed into the living room, he was caught off guard by something and tripped over it. He lost his balance and fell heavily to the ground.
The moonlight outside came in, covering half of the living room.
Zhou Bingchen supported himself on the floor with his hands, his neck stiff as he looked towards the place that had just blocked his way.
There, a person was lying there, motionless.
At that moment, he felt as if the back of his head was hit by a heavy hammer, and it was buzzing.
The moonlight illuminated half of the man's tense face. He crawled forward using his hands and feet, but his hands were covered in blood.
"Assistant, what's wrong with you?"
Zhou Bingchen's eyes were bloodshot, and his hands were shaking as he pressed down on the man's neck, which was bleeding profusely. His voice was hoarse and trembling as if it were being rolled over by sand.
"I'll call someone over. You'll be fine soon. You said you were going to be a father. Jiang Xi is still waiting for you. You have to hold on!"
Tears fell from the corners of his eyes and dripped onto Assistant Li's blood-stained face.
He recalled his first meeting with Assistant Li and Lawyer Zhang.
It was in that dark and narrow little iron cage.
When they were abducted, they were even younger than Chuyuan. They were squeezed in a corner and had their food snatched away by the older children. They cried until their faces were covered with snot.
But they were also the only ones in that group of children who would break off the steamed buns in their hands and feed them to him.
Qiao Chuyuan was able to escape from the human traffickers carrying him on her back, all thanks to the help of these two people.
Later, the human traffickers' den was destroyed, and he brought the two people who could not find their parents to his side.
They had no identity and laughed and joked together. One of them called himself lawyer and the other called himself assistant. They were ordinary brothers in distress and accompanied him through those painful times.
He didn't even have the time to tell Chu Yuan that they were the two people who followed her around and kept calling her "Sister, Sister" when she was a child.
But he saw Chuyuan disappear before his eyes, and now he has to watch his former good brother die in front of him?
He shook his head frantically, took off his shirt and wrapped it tightly around Assistant Li's neck, then took out his cell phone and was about to make a call.
Assistant Li tried to stop him with trembling bloodshot hands, his eyes fixed on the back of him, as if he had a thousand words to say but was unable to speak them. With just a glance, Zhou Bingchen quickly understood what he meant.
Before he could make a move.
"Bang..." With a crisp sound, a teacup came crashing down in the darkness, accurately knocking the phone out of Zhou Binchen's hand.
Then a gust of wind blew, and Zhou Bingchen quickly leaned back to avoid the attack.
The next second, the originally dark living room suddenly became as bright as day.
Under the dazzling chandelier, a group of uninvited guests dressed in black had suddenly filled the living room.
The one standing in front of them was Yao Yifeng, who had just gone to northern Myanmar not long ago.
A chair landed noiselessly on the carpet.
Yao Yifeng sat down lazily.
One hand was playing with the flickering flame of a lighter, while the other hand was holding a purple silk scarf with disgust. When she looked at him, her eyes were full of disdain and provocation.
Zhou Binchen's eyes were red as he looked at the silk scarf that he treasured so much and had hidden in his study before going to sleep. Now it fell into Yao Yifeng's hands. His anger quickly erupted and almost burst out of his chest, strangling Yao Yifeng on the spot!
"You broke into people's homes and killed people wantonly. Aren't you afraid of going to jail?"
As he spoke, he turned his head to glance at Assistant Li, who was dying on the ground. When he looked back at Yao Yifeng, his eyes were full of warning and sinister intent. "Get out of the way right now. I'm taking him to the hospital. If he dies, you won't be able to leave here alive!"
"Oh, I'm so scared!"
Yao Yifeng pretended to be afraid and leaned back, playing with the lit lighter, and caught the scarf in his hand on fire unexpectedly. The flames suddenly pierced Zhou Binchen's eyes.
Zhou Bingchen's pupils trembled as he watched the wet towel being wrapped in fire and eventually burned to ashes.
He clenched his fists at his sides, not wanting to waste any more time talking to him. He rushed forward, wanting to fight his way out and take Assistant Li to the hospital.
Countless men in black rushed forward like a charge, without any order, and attacked Zhou Binchen with their fists and feet.
Even though they were outnumbered, he still managed to knock them all to the ground in just one minute, and they were unable to get up again.
Zhou Binchen's eyes were bloodshot and he was gasping for breath. He turned around and was about to pick up Assistant Li from the ground and carry him to the hospital.
Yao Yifeng, who was standing behind him, clapped his hands and sneered, "Our cold-faced military advisor is indeed worthy of his reputation. It's a pity that he's full of weaknesses. How could someone as sentimental as you survive to the end?"
As soon as he finished speaking, two "Dad" sounds hit him like two thunderbolts, making him tremble all over and stop his hand from carrying Assistant Li to stand up.
Behind him were the terrified cries of two children.
In front of him was his good brother, dying and pale.
Zhou Bingchen turned around with a stiff neck, and when he met the tear-stained faces of the two children and his eyes fell on the knives on the necks of the two children, his heart was gripped tightly.
"Yao Yifeng, what do you want to do? If you have anything to say, come to the adults. It has nothing to do with children!"
Yao Yifeng stood up from the chair. The man who had just had a smile on his face and a look of sarcasm in his eyes now had anger in his eyes.
He reached out and pinched Nan Nan's chin, admiring the despair in Zhou Bingchen's eyes, his face full of the pleasure of revenge.
