The two wandered around the mountains for an unknown amount of time but still found nothing. All they could see were mountains and trees; there was nothing else to see.

"Master..." Ji Lin called out to Zhou Ziqiu ahead in despair. They had been trapped here for a long time.

Zhou Ziqiu sighed, and just as he was about to say something, his expression suddenly turned serious, and his gaze turned to the depths of the path behind him.

He sensed an extremely sinister aura that made him feel cold all over and his hair stand on end.

"Go! Quickly!"

Zhou Ziqiu pulled Ji Lin up from the ground without giving him a chance to refuse, and they ran away in the opposite direction of their breathing.

Ji Lin didn't know what Zhou Ziqiu was seeing; he only knew that the surrounding scenery was rushing past him: "Master! Master, slow down! Master!"

Zhou Ziqiu stopped when he heard Ji Lin's words, but his face was ashen. Even though Zhou Ziqiu was already pale, Ji Lin could tell that Zhou Ziqiu's complexion was extremely bad. He then turned his gaze from Zhou Ziqiu's face to what he was looking at, but he could not see anything in the darkness.

"master..."

Before Ji Lin could even ask, he had barely finished uttering those two words when he saw two groups of people emerge from the darkness before and after him. The group in front was dressed in white, as if someone had just died and needed to be buried. The person at the head of the group was constantly scattering white paper money in the air, and a black coffin was being carried in the middle of the group. Behind them was a group of people dressed in red, just like what Ji Lin had seen in the mansion, who were getting married. The people at the head of the group were also scattering red paper money for the dead, and a red sedan chair was being carried in the middle of the group. Inside the sedan chair, which had no curtains, sat a woman in red with her fingers outstretched and crossed.

The contrast between red and white is both eerie and aesthetically pleasing.

Ji Lin didn't know what this was, but was shocked by the deathly pale, ashen faces of these people. Zhou Ziqiu, however, broke out in a cold sweat.

"We can't leave."

Because this is what they're after.

The red and white teams drew closer and closer, and the sinister aura exerted increasing pressure on Zhou Ziqiu.

Ji Lin noticed that Zhou Ziqiu's expression was not good, and guessed that the thing that was coming towards them must be very powerful. He was so scared that he wanted to cry but dared not make a sound. His face turned red.

Zhou Ziqiu did not choose to attack, but instead drew his long sword with his right hand and held it horizontally in front of him to block the two men.

He was a ghost who had been dead for a thousand years. If the Red and White Duo, who were also evil, wanted to harm him, they could only devour him. But Zhou Ziqiu was not something that could be easily digested. Not to mention that the Red and White Duo had lost one of their evil spirits. He could protect Ji Lin even if it cost him his life.

Fortunately, he turned his head to look at Ji Lin, whose body had already dissipated by half, indicating that his soul was about to return to his body.

Although the two groups seemed to be walking slowly, they were very close in just a few breaths, and Ji Lin then saw that the red sedan chair coming from in front of him was also carrying a ghost dressed in a wedding gown.

"Why am I incompatible with the bride?!"

Ji Lin wanted to cry but had no tears.

Zhou Ziqiu did not answer Ji Lin.

As they spoke, the two groups came together, weaving in and surrounding Zhou Ziqiu and Ji Lin, while the coffins and sedan chairs they carried rushed toward them.

Seeing that it had made a move, Zhou Ziqiu's face turned grim. He reacted quickly and slashed his long sword at the red demon in the bridal sedan chair. The wind from the sword cut the sedan chair in two. Before Zhou Ziqiu could finish it off, the coffins behind him crashed into the two of them. A huge suction force also pulled them in. Zhou Ziqiu's vision went black for a moment. When he opened his eyes again, he was already inside the coffin.

"Master! Master, save me!"

The knocking and cries for help came from Zhou Ziqiu, and it was obvious that Ji Lin was trapped in the bridal sedan chair above.

"Ji Lin!" Zhou Ziqiu called out to Ji Lin, afraid that Ji Lin might get hurt up there. "Ji Lin, tell me how you are now!"

Ji Lin was already crying in the bridal sedan chair, terrified. He didn't know where these ghosts were taking him: "They...they're not going to take me back and kill me, are they? I'm so scared, Master!"

Upon hearing this, Zhou Ziqiu shouted, "Don't be afraid, wait for me!"

Zhou Ziqiu's eyes flashed, and the long sword in his hand reappeared. He pierced through the coffin lid and pulled it open. He leaped out in front of Ji Lin and slashed at the red demon in front of the group. At the same time, the black coffin was also rushing towards him. In an instant, it was a matter of who could attack whom first.

"Master, be careful!" Ji Lin shouted.

Suddenly, a streak of pure white light flew out from nowhere and struck the Red Demon. The white light was as fast as lightning, and Zhou Ziqiu couldn't even see what it was. The moment the Red Demon was pierced by the white light, it let out a shriek. All the ghosts around and the coffin that was attacking Zhou Ziqiu disappeared from their original spots, and even the Yin energy around them vanished.

Zhou Ziqiu looked in the direction from which the snow-white object had come. He thought he saw a figure there, but he couldn't make it out clearly.

Suppressing his doubts, Zhou Ziqiu guided Ji Lin's soul back to their respective bodies.

Then Zhou Ziqiu's vision was plunged into darkness again.

On the spot, a person leaned against a tree and slowly sat down, covering his eyes for a long time before finally letting out a breath. He placed his hand on his heart, and his rapidly beating heart told him that his feeling was not an illusion.

"Zhou Ziqiu..."

No one heard his murmur. He laughed to himself again, a laugh full of mockery, before leaning against a tree to stand up and picking up the dagger that had fallen to the ground.

...

......

"Hmm..."

Zhou Ziqiu raised his hand, but before he could open his eyes, the tearing headache on his forehead cleared his muddled consciousness. A groan escaped his lips, but apart from the tearing headache, Zhou Ziqiu could not perceive anything. It seemed that someone was speaking in his ear, but the voice was hazy and unclear. He tried to move his fingers, but it seemed that he could not control his body.

Zhou Ziqiu could only roll his eyes, but a voice exploded in his ears like a thunderclap, extremely clear.

"master!"

For some reason, as soon as the voice came out, Zhou Ziqiu felt as if he could control his body. He immediately opened his eyes and saw Ji Lin's face in front of him.

"...Ji Lin."

"Master, are you alright?"

As soon as Ji Lin woke up, he hurriedly looked at Zhou Ziqiu in the bedroom, only to find Zhou Ziqiu lying on the ground. Startled, he quickly helped Zhou Ziqiu to the sofa. When he saw that Zhou Ziqiu had not woken up for several minutes, he was about to call an ambulance. Fortunately, Zhou Ziqiu woke up in time.

"I'm fine." Zhou Ziqiu shook his head, and after fully regaining his senses, he looked at Ji Lin and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the gloom between his brows had dissipated considerably.

"Master, what was that thing we just encountered?" Ji Lin asked curiously, feeling frightened at the thought of his helpless self in the dream.

Zhou Ziqiu replied, "The Red and White Duo."

A "Sha" is an evil entity even more ferocious than a vengeful ghost. Like the mother and child sha they initially encountered in Changnan Village, the mother and child sha they faced were just formed and, though not yet harmful, were extremely malevolent and not so difficult to deal with. Sha that innocently takes lives, however, are punished by the will of Heaven, the earth, and humanity. Those who reach the level of Sha must have either escaped or withstood the punishments of Heavenly Fire, Thunder, Wind, and Water, as well as the extermination by the methods and witchcraft of the righteous sects. They are covered in small pools of blood from dozens or even hundreds of lives.

The "Red and White Double Evils" are not simply a matter of a dead bride and a water ghost meeting, as popular folklore suggests. The formation of these double evils requires a specific feng shui configuration of mountains or hills that oppose the gates of life and death. Specifically, it requires Yang Earth (Yang Ze) where the fourteen mountains of the Life Gate (丑艮寅震艮) are aligned with the twenty-four inauspicious stars of the Death Gate (天常星), while Yin Earth (Yin Ze) where the fourteen mountains of the Death Gate (未坤申巽坤) are aligned with the twenty-four auspicious stars of the Life Gate (天格星). Furthermore, the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches of the year, month, and day, along with the corresponding star constellations and the inauspicious deities in the conflicting positions, must all be of the "breaking earth" (破土) element, indicating a destructive influence. Additionally, the moon phase must be below the sun. If a wedding procession happens to encounter this location in the mountains, and it happens to be during a bandit attack, mudslide, flood, landslide, or fire, resulting in death, then these vengeful spirits, imbued with the extremely rare "breaking earth" energy, will search for the corpse or a demon-like animal within a radius of tens of miles. They will then forcibly invade this area, transforming into evil spirits and emerging at a specific Yin time to harm passersby. Furthermore, since red belongs to fire and white belongs to metal, and the five elements of metal and fire are mutually destructive, but in the soil of the mountains, fire generates earth, and earth generates metal, thus forming a pattern of clash, destruction, life and death in the five elements and eight gates. Therefore, most Taoist methods, magics, and witchcraft based on the cultivation of essence, energy, spirit, and the five elements and five energies will be ineffective against it. Only innate inheritance can control it. Because the conditions for forming evil are extremely difficult, the harm is great, and the power is extremely strong, in ancient times, when the red and white evil appeared, it was always dealt with by several schools of magic, witchcraft, Taoism, and Buddhism working together. Even the most powerful cultivators rarely dealt with it alone.

Thinking of the Red and White Duo, Zhou Ziqiu frowned slightly.

In the past, there were the Red and White Double Evils, but now it is modern times, and national and provincial highways have been built all over the country. There are no longer weddings on mountain roads with horses and sedan chairs. How could one still encounter the Red and White Double Evils? Thinking of the Red and White Double Evils that were missing the White Evil, Zhou Ziqiu felt that there must be some mystery behind it.

There must be someone behind the scenes who orchestrated the formation of this "Red and White Duo".

Could it be the person who saved him? 18:57:34
