Chapter 1110 Reunion with Miyagaoka
Shu Yu waved to him, "Come here, I'll dress you up again, we'll go to the Dali Temple prison in a bit."
Meng Yunzheng asked, puzzled, "What are you going to the Dali Temple prison for?"
Shu Yu stopped what she was doing and said in a low voice, "See Gong Qiu."
"Um?"
"I'm giving you one last layer of insurance." Shu Yu winked at him, then turned back to continue dressing herself.
Meng Yunzheng raised an eyebrow. "Is this the final insurance?"
He didn't ask any questions. After Shu Yu finished drawing, she pressed him down into a chair and started applying cosmetics to his face.
Looking at her face so close to his own, especially the small black mole on her chin, Meng Yunzheng couldn't help but chuckle.
Shu Yu smacked him, "Don't move around, you almost drew your eyebrows crooked."
"Cough." Meng Yunzheng dared not move again; let her do whatever she wanted.
Both of them disguised themselves as ordinary-looking people, the kind who might not be recognized even after a few glances in a crowd.
At this critical juncture, there might still be someone secretly watching them. Therefore, just to be on the safe side, the two wore veils when they went out, and then got into a carriage, with Zhao Xi driving, to the backyard of a restaurant near the Dali Temple.
About half an hour after they entered the restaurant, Zhao Xi led them out again and went straight back to the small courtyard in the south of the city, as if the three of them had just come out for a meal.
No one knew that the two people who came out of the restaurant had been switched.
Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng changed into the clothes of servants from the Dali Temple in the restaurant, took their access tokens, and quietly entered the Dali Temple.
He then changed into the clothes of Lord Jing's attendant and followed Lord Jing into the Dali Temple prison.
As Lord Jing walked, he said, "You won't have much time. Gong Qiu is being held in solitary confinement, guarded by the Fifth Prince's men, so you can rest assured. However, the Ministry of Justice is keeping a close eye on him, so you can only have a quarter of an hour. Come out quickly after you've finished speaking."
Fortunately, the plot to rebel in Gongqiu was orchestrated by the Fifth Prince, who was one of their own, which gave them the opportunity.
Meng Yunzheng said softly, "Thank you."
The group quickly arrived at the cell where Gong Qiu was being held. The guard nodded slightly when he saw Lord Jing, presumably on the orders of the Fifth Prince. Without saying a word, he went to the corner and kept watch for them.
Lord Jing also stepped back a few steps, giving them space to talk.
Gongqiu huddled in the corner of the cell, showing no reaction even when he heard the noise, displaying an indifferent attitude.
Meng Yunzheng and his companion stood outside the cell, and could vaguely see a clump of people in the corner.
It seems that the joint trial by the three judicial authorities treated him quite well; apart from being a bit dirty, there were no signs of torture on his body.
Meng Yunzheng watched coldly. Shu Yu tugged at him, and he finally spoke in a low voice, "Gongqiu."
The person in the corner didn't react at first, but he quickly recognized the voice and froze, turning around abruptly.
He didn't recognize the two faces at the cell door.
When Meng Yunzheng spoke again, he finally confirmed that he was not hallucinating. He immediately stood up and dragged his shackles toward the door.
Reaching the railing, he slammed his hands heavily on it, his eyes sharp and his voice hoarse, "Gong Xiao! How dare you show your face to me, you beast!"
Meng Yunzheng's eyes were equally cold. "Why should I be ashamed? I was just avenging my mother. I've been more than filial by letting you roam free for over ten years!"
