Chapter 1482 The Old Lady's Regret
Seeing Shu Yu and Ying Xi standing at the door, Hua Xian was quite surprised, "Second Miss?"
Shu Yu smiled at her and peeked halfway into the room. Sure enough, she saw the old lady sitting at the table, looking out the window, seemingly lost in thought. Hearing the noise by the door, she looked up and glanced in their direction.
"Grandma, aren't you asleep yet?"
The old lady was taken aback for a moment, then quickly waved to her, "Come in quickly, it's raining outside."
Shu Yu entered the room and said to Hua Xian, "Go find Ying Xi and get something to eat."
Hua Xian blinked and looked behind her, where Ying Xi had just closed his umbrella and was gesturing with the food box in his hand towards her.
Hua Xian smiled, turned around and went out, gently closing the door to leave the grandmother and granddaughter with their own space.
Shu Yu walked in carrying a food box, placed it on the table, and opened the lid to take out the noodles. As she did so, she said, "I was looking at the accounts in the study just now, and I didn't realize it was so late. I was a little hungry, so I went to the kitchen to cook some noodles for a late-night snack. I saw that the lights were still on in the yard, so I just came over here, so I wouldn't have to eat in the dark in the kitchen. Grandma, would you like to have some with me?"
The old lady felt a warmth in her heart; how could she not know that this was just an excuse Shu Yu had come up with?
This must have been specially cooked for her because she doesn't eat much at night; otherwise, why would there be so much?
She pulled Shuyu down to sit, "Okay, Grandma will eat with you."
Shu Yu immediately pushed a bowl of noodles in front of her, "It's been so long since I've cooked myself. Come on, try it and see if my cooking skills have gotten worse?"
The old lady took a bite and said, "Mmm, delicious."
"Then eat more."
The grandfather and grandson sat facing each other, no longer speaking, and quietly and warmly finished their bowl of noodles.
Late at night, Shu Yu was worried that the old lady would have indigestion, so she helped her walk around the house.
The old lady held her hand, trying to comfort her, "You don't need to stay with me anymore. It's so late, go back and rest."
"No rush."
The old lady sighed, "I know you're worried about me, but I'm fine now."
Shu Yu winked at her.
The old lady chuckled, "It's really nothing, it's just that I feel a little sad. But over the years, I've seen my parents, my brother, and your grandfather pass away. I've been through so much, I'm used to it all. I just have some regrets."
Shu Yuxin breathed a sigh of relief; it was a good thing that the old lady was willing to speak out.
She'd been dazed and silent ever since she came back. Even though she went to her room to rest, she ate very little and hadn't gone to sleep yet, even though it was so late. This is what's worrying.
Shu Yu thinks it's a good thing that people are willing to talk about it now.
"Regret? Does Grandma feel that she couldn't see Grandma Liu one last time?"
The old lady shook her head. "No, I just regret that we didn't make up. Your grandmother Liu suffered a lot in her younger years, so when I was doing well, she was always sarcastic towards me.
