Chapter 1658 Yuan Gui's Experience
Is there a vine tied around her waist?
Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng were both startled, and then they heard Yuan Gui say with a wry smile, "I was holding onto him when we fell down, so when he was pulled into that protruding hole, I almost got pulled in too. But halfway in, Jiang Kuanyu glanced at me and tried to kick me down."
Despite his shock, Yuan Gui clung to him tightly until one of the two men who were waiting for Jiang Kuanyu at the cave entrance shot an arrow at him.
Yuan Gui couldn't hold on any longer and eventually fell off the cliff.
"I was lucky. While I was dangling in mid-air, the arrow didn't hit a vital spot. And when I fell, because they pulled me to the side, I almost fell along the edge of the cliff. There were a lot of trees growing on the side, which cushioned my fall several times and reduced the impact."
Therefore, although he was seriously injured, he was lucky enough to survive.
Shu Yu asked, "I heard that the Jiang family, the镖局 (bodyguard agency), and the government officials all went down the mountain to search, but only found bloodstained clothes and pieces of flesh. What happened?"
“I don’t know if they came down to look for me, but Jiang Kuanyu and his gang came down earlier. I was unconscious when I fell off the cliff, and I was woken up by the pain when I was being torn apart by wolves.”
Yuan Gui pulled open the sleeve on his hand, and Meng Qi gasped.
There was a large scar on his wrist, as if a piece of flesh had been bitten off. Even though the scar had healed, one could still imagine the bloody mess it had been in.
"When I woke up, the wolf realized I was still alive and took a few steps back. Seeing that I was badly injured and unable to move, it tried to come back and continue to tear me apart. Just then, I heard fighting sounds behind me, along with the howling of other wolves, and that wolf turned and ran away."
Yuan Gui really thought he was going to die, and with his last bit of strength, he hid himself.
Before long, the sounds of fighting moved toward him, and he saw Jiang Kuanyu and several others fighting with a few wolves.
Both sides suffered losses; two wolves died, and Jiang Kuanyu and his group also left.
"As for the bloodstained clothes and bits of flesh that Lu Xiangjun mentioned, they could be mine or they could be Jiang Kuanyu's accomplices. Moreover, Jiang Kuanyu did some tampering to make others believe that he had fallen off the cliff and been eaten by wild animals, which inadvertently confirmed my death."
Shu Yu suddenly realized, "So Jiang Kuanyu wasn't sure if you were dead or not, but there were so many wolves nearby at the time, and one of them even bit you, so he probably guessed that you were eaten?"
"Perhaps." Even if Jiang Kuanyu suspected that he was still alive, he didn't have the opportunity or time to come looking for him back then.
Later, Yuan Gui did not return to Dong'an Prefecture, nor did he appear in the vicinity, so Jiang Kuanyu assumed that he was really dead.
It makes sense. He was hit by an arrow, fell off such a high cliff, and encountered a pack of wolves. How tough must he be to survive?
But Yuan Gui is actually still alive.
"So what happened next? How were you rescued?"
“I know some medical principles, so I did some first aid for myself. But I was too badly injured at the time. To be honest, I was lucky to be alive. I just left it to fate. But the bottom of the cliff was too dangerous, and I couldn’t stay there for long. Later, I climbed to the riverbank and saw a dilapidated bamboo raft not far away. I climbed on it and floated away on the raft.”
