Chapter 1726 Granny Fang
Meng Qi knew that Shu Yu was definitely not telling the truth, but he understood that if Meng Yunzheng and his group were going to do something big, the fewer people who knew the truth, the better.
Therefore, he did not refute Shu Yu's words. He then remembered that he should introduce Shu Yu's identity and quickly said, "This is my cousin's fiancée, Miss Lu. After hearing about what happened in Chenggu County, she was worried about the safety of her family, so she came to the county town with her cousin a couple of days ago."
Doctor Mi cupped his hands and said, “Miss Lu, you are too kind. Since those bandits think Brother Meng is dead, they probably won’t bother the Meng family anymore. But just in case, let Brother Meng recuperate here for now. It’s not too late to let him go back after the authorities arrest those bandits.”
"Thank you for your help, Uncle Mi."
Dr. Mi waved his hand, "Your father is a good friend of mine, that's only right. But if you find out where those bandits are hiding, shouldn't you immediately notify the patrolling soldiers and arrest them as soon as possible?"
Shu Yu sighed and said with great regret, "We did chase after them, trying to find out where they were hiding. Unfortunately, we lost them halfway. My uncle's injuries were too severe, and we couldn't delay any longer, so we had to give up."
Dr. Mi felt a little regretful upon hearing this, but there was nothing else he could do now that things had come to this.
As they were talking, they suddenly heard faint footsteps outside.
Meng Qi glanced outside and said, "It's Granny Fang."
The Mi Family Clinic was a small clinic, usually staffed by two doctors and two apprentices. However, after the unrest in the county town, the clinic temporarily closed. So, these days, only Doctor Mi was living in the clinic.
Dr. Mi originally had a wife and daughter, but his wife passed away last year, and his daughter got married a couple of years ago. So now, besides Dr. Mi himself, the only other people in this large clinic are Granny Fang and Yuan Gui.
Grandma Fang saw the people in the house and seemed a little reserved. She immediately said in a low voice, "I heard some noise over here, so I came to check. Do you need any help?"
"No need, we're all better now." Meng Qi stepped forward and asked Granny Fang, "How is Yuan Gui?"
"I'm much better now. I woke up once in the middle of the night and was able to get out of bed and walk around." Granny Fang quickly said, "Thank you so much, Young Master Meng. If it weren't for you, I might never have seen A-Gui again."
"Grandma Fang, you don't need to be so polite."
Grandma Fang laughed, then, as if remembering something, looked up and said, "Oh, right, I was just about to make breakfast. What would you like to eat? I'll make it for you. I'll pay."
Yuan Gui is recuperating here, and after paying his medical bills, he will be provided with room and board. However, he will have to cook his own meals; Dr. Mi will only provide cooking utensils and ingredients.
Grandma Fang didn't have much money left, but she was truly grateful to Meng Qi. She couldn't afford anything else, but it was only right to cook a meal for Yuan Gui's savior.
As long as Yuan Gui is safe and sound, they can make money later.
Meng Qi was indeed hungry, so he didn't refuse. "Then thank you very much, Grandma Fang. Anything is fine. Hmm... cook some porridge."
"Okay."
Grandma Fang turned and left.
Shu Yu thought for a moment, then followed, saying, "I'll help you."
Grandma Fang was taken aback and turned to look at her. Just now, Shu Yu was standing on the side inside the room. She hadn't seen her and assumed that only Meng Qi, Doctor Mi, and the injured patient lying on the bed were in the room.
Unexpectedly, a girl suddenly walked out from inside.
