Chapter 1736 Capturing Constable Hong

Chapter 1736 Capturing Constable Hong

Without saying a word, Constable Hong led his men into the Meng Family Escort Agency. Shu Yu subtly curled the corners of her lips, and once everyone was inside, she immediately closed the door.

Constable Hong and his men had already run inside, asking as they ran, "Where are the bandits?"

He seemed eager to fight someone, but everyone knew perfectly well whose side he was on.

Shu Yu rushed forward to lead the way, saying, "It's inside, in the direction from which the fighting sounds are coming from."

Constable Hong did indeed hear the sounds of fighting, and immediately ran even faster.

Running to the backyard, they indeed saw several people fighting. There were two people dressed as bandits, while there were four or five from the Meng Family Escort Agency. The battle was clearly one-sided.

He immediately stepped forward and shouted, "Stop! You've gone too far! Breaking into a private residence in broad daylight! General Huang is right outside the city; you'll be arrested soon!"

Having said that, he led his men forward to join the battle.

Their original intention was to take advantage of the chaos and help the bandits leave the Meng Family Escort Agency step by step. Who knew that after running a few steps forward, the bandits suddenly turned around and attacked them.

Officer Hong was stunned and before he could react, he was restrained by having his hands pinned down.

He turned around abruptly and realized that the person dressed as a bandit was actually Meng Yunzheng.

Officer Hong was shocked, "You..."

Meng Yunzheng smiled at him, "Officer Hong, you caught the bandits quite quickly today."

"Young Master Meng, what do you mean by this? Why are you arresting me? I am an official."

"We're arresting you officials."

As they were speaking, the officers behind Constable Hong were also apprehended.

Shu Yu and Meng Han threw several large hemp ropes in front of them, and Meng Yunzheng and Uncle Gao, along with other bodyguards, quickly tied them up.

Constable Hong was incredulous. "Are you planning a rebellion? Do you know what the crime is for ambushing government officials? Are you all out of your minds?"

His blustering exterior masked his inner weakness, which genuinely made the bodyguards a little nervous.

Seeing this, Shu Yu simply squatted down, looked at Constable Hong, and laughed, "We all know who wants to rebel, right? Constable Hong, you're the one who's really bold, risking your whole family's lives to help Magistrate Cheng collude with rebels! You're absolutely audacious!"

"How did you know?" Constable Hong gasped, staring at him in disbelief. He then turned to look at the others, who were all staring at him expressionlessly.

He panicked and hurriedly denied it, "You, what nonsense are you talking about? Not only did you ambush the officials, but now you're slandering Magistrate Cheng. Do you know what crime it is to slander an official of the imperial court?"

Shu Yu scoffed, took the tattered rag Ying Xi handed her, and stuffed it into his mouth.

"You should save your breath for these sophistry. Go talk to General Huang about it after he has quelled the rebellion."

Constable Hong's eyes widened. What did she mean? What was she saying? Did General Huang know?

He struggled desperately, but he couldn't move his hands, feet, or mouth; he could only rage helplessly.

Meng Yunzheng had someone lead Constable Hong and his men into the house. Just in case, he knocked them unconscious and locked them up.

The people guarding them were Uncle Gao and his fellow bodyguards.

As dusk settled outside, Meng Yunzheng squinted at the distance, wondering, "I wonder how Master Yang and the others are doing."
