Chapter 1799 Ah Gui, You Have Twelve Brothers and Sisters
Shu Yu's gentle voice quickly soothed Grandma Fang's depressed mood.
As she recounted those events, Grandma Fang seemed to see the scenes of the Lu family brothers and sisters getting along, and she couldn't help but relax.
"Among the younger generation, Sister Cuihua's son is the oldest, followed by Brother Daniu's. My sister's child was born in September and is almost three months old now. He's chubby and cute."
"Really... I'd like to meet them too."
Shu Yu chatted with her for a long time until the aroma of food wafted from outside, at which point she finally stopped.
A short while later, Ying Xi knocked on the door and came in. "Miss, it's time to eat."
Shu Yu then realized that it was getting late; it was already noon.
Lunch was prepared by Granny Feng from the village chief's family and others at the Fang family's house, with Yuan Gui and Ying Xi helping out. It turned out to be a delicious and visually appealing meal.
Yingxi said she had already paid for the food for Granny Feng. This table of dishes wasn't ordinary farm food; if Granny Feng were eating alone, she would have just made something simple, and there wouldn't have been fragrant white rice. It must have been prepared for them.
Sure enough, Granny Feng left after cooking. The old village chief, who had originally wanted to stay with Shu Yu as the host, was pulled away by Granny Feng.
After a while, only Fang's own family members remained.
After a morning of conversation, Grandma Fang's excitement, though not subsiding quickly, had calmed down considerably.
Knowing that her sister is still alive, now surrounded by children and grandchildren, she still thinks of her.
Knowing that she was not alone and that her blood relatives were still alive, Grandma Fang felt a pang of sadness in her heart.
She looked at Shuyu as if she couldn't get enough of her. After finishing her meal, she pulled Shuyu aside and talked to her for a long time, constantly asking her about the old lady.
As dusk began to fall, Grandma Fang reluctantly released her hand, saying with some reluctance, "How about we don't go back tonight?"
Shu Yu chuckled, “Grandma, now that we’ve recognized each other, there’s plenty of time for us to meet again. Chenggu County isn’t far from Hedeng Village, so I can come see you anytime. If you need anything, you can also come to the county town to find me. We’re going to spend the New Year here this year, and then we’ll go back to Dong’an Prefecture after the New Year.”
She paused, then said, "Before we go back, Auntie, please make some preparations, okay?"
In the afternoon, Shu Yu had already asked her what she thought.
Grandma Fang naturally wanted to go back, but she had lived in Hedeng Village for over thirty years. The villagers knew her well and treated her very well; they had developed a bond. She couldn't possibly leave immediately.
Shu Yu decided to wait until after the New Year to leave, which gave Grandma Fang some time to adjust.
"Alright, then you go back first, be careful on the way." Granny Fang let go of Shu Yu's hand and insisted on getting up to see her off. Only after seeing her get into the carriage at the door did she sigh softly and let Yuan Gui help her back to the house.
After lying down on the bed, Grandma Fang was still smiling. She said to Yuan Gui with emotion, "I really never thought that I would see my sister again in this lifetime. So many years have passed, and she has grown old. I wonder what she looks like now. Yuan Gui, do you know? A Yu said that my sister has twelve grandchildren. You will have twelve brothers and sisters in the future."
Yuan Gui suddenly raised his head and looked at Granny Fang.
The latter, however, did not notice his expression and continued to talk to him about the Lu family's situation.
Yuan Gui's eyes suddenly began to burn.
