Chapter 1803 The Gift from Shu Yu
Shu Yu nodded to Yuan Gui, pointed to the back of the carriage and said, "I brought a gift for my aunt. Could you please carry it for me? We'll go in and see her first."
Yuan Gui immediately agreed, "Okay."
Upon entering the carriage and seeing the overflowing contents, Yuan Gui's face twitched involuntarily.
Did I bring a gift?
He glanced outside the carriage; many people were craning their necks, waiting to see Lu Xiangjun's gift. He chuckled and shook his head, then called to the village chief's grandson, "Anming, give me a hand."
"They're here."
Yuan Gui first lifted down a large basket. An Ming didn't notice when he took it and was almost pulled to the ground by the weight in his hand.
When I lifted the red cloth covering it, wow, it was all meat.
Pork, chicken, duck, fish, and there's also a piece that looks like lamb?
No wonder it's so heavy; it's all real weight.
The onlookers stared wide-eyed. This was incredibly generous! So much meat, how long would it take to eat it all?
An Ming had just carried the basket inside when Yuan Gui pulled out a box from behind.
"What's this?" Anming asked, taking the box. Yuangui shook his head. "I don't know." The box was closed, so he couldn't very well open it, but it was no lighter than the one from before.
Although Anming was curious, he still asked someone to help carry the box inside. Later, someone asked Granny Fang to open the box and see that it contained two bolts of cloth and two sets of ready-made clothes for Granny Fang.
Following that, Yuan Gui brought out pastries, dried fruit, rice, flour, and cooking oil—all practical and useful items.
Everyone stared in disbelief; Grandma Fang had truly finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel. Her granddaughter was so generous; they'd heard Lu Xiangjun had many siblings.
Wow, Grandma Fang is going to be rich!
The villagers in the courtyard were talking about it; Shu Yu had already met Grandma Fang.
The latter, dressed in new clothes, was sitting in the house talking to Granny Feng. She looked radiant and very excited.
He was even happier to see Shuyu and held her tightly, refusing to let go.
Then he busied himself finding stools for Meng Pei and the Guan couple and pouring them water. Judging from his efficient manner, he didn't seem like someone who had fainted just two days ago.
Shu Yu didn't stop her. After waiting for her to finish her work, she finally took out a box from her sleeve.
"Grandma, today is the joyous day of your family reunion. I was in a rush and didn't have time to prepare anything. Here, take this and congratulations on adopting such an honest and reliable child."
Grandma Fang was unaware that Shu Yu had left a lot of things on the carriage outside; otherwise, she wouldn't have accepted the box.
When she took it and opened it, she was shocked to find gold earrings and a gold bracelet inside. She quickly closed the box and returned it.
"Why are you giving me these? They're too valuable. You should keep them safe; I can't accept them."
"That won't do." Shu Yu stuffed them back. "These earrings and bracelet were specially chosen for you. They suit you perfectly. No one else can pull them off like you do."
"Nonsense, I don't..."
“Grandma, today is such an important day. My grandmother should have been here. If she were here, she would have been so happy for you, and the gift she brought would have been even better. But she is far away, so I can only represent her. If you don’t accept it, what if my grandmother blames me? What if the other uncles say I don’t know how to handle things? I’m just a junior, and I can’t argue back. Wouldn’t that be too unfair?”
