Chapter 2016: The Xiao Family Comes to Say Goodbye

When the carriage passed the village outside the city, Shu Yu did not stop, but simply lifted the curtain to look at her large sunflower field.

According to Da Niu, during the six months she was away, quite a few people came to buy sunflower seeds again.

The villages near Shangshi Village had the most sunflowers. The villagers nearby saw that the people in Shangshi Village who grew sunflowers made money, especially Daqiang from Dazhuang's family, who planted sunflowers on more than ten acres of land and the yield was quite high.

They heard that growing sunflowers was not like growing grains, which required high-quality land and did not require too much care. After discussing it, many people decided to dedicate several acres or half of their land to growing sunflowers.

Nowadays, many sunflowers have been planted in the area near Wenlan Town, and when they bloom, they form a beautiful landscape.

After passing through a sunflower field, the carriage traveled another five or six kilometers before seeing another small sunflower field.

Shu Yu didn't expect that it would be planted here too.

"It seems we'll have to continue expanding the workshop and hiring more people."

The carriage arrived in Jiangyuan County at dusk.

After being away for more than half a year, coming back feels just like home.

As she walked along Fenghuai Street, Shu Yu became increasingly eager to return home. Once she reached her doorstep, she jumped down impatiently.

He then looked at the carriage parked at the door with some surprise, "Do we have guests at home?"

Da Bao ran up to him, "Could it be that she knew Sister A Yu had become a county princess, and that you were back today, so she rushed over to pay her a visit?"

Shu Yu glanced at him. "Who is so resourceful as to know I'll be home today? This carriage doesn't look like an ordinary family's. I wonder who owns it. Let's go in and take a look."

Shu Yu led the three boys inside first, while Ying Dong and the others drove the carriage to the stables.

Just as Shu Yu turned around the screen wall and walked towards the front yard, she saw two people walking hand in hand in front of her.

Shu Yu saw the old lady at first glance, "Grandma."

She called out with a smile, and then saw... Madam Xiao standing next to the old lady?

Shu Yu was stunned for a moment, "Sister-in-law?"

When the old lady and Madam Xiao heard the familiar voice, they both looked up in surprise, "Ayu."

The old lady hurried a few steps forward, "Oh, you're back? Did you just arrive in town?"

She looked at them one by one and saw that they all seemed to be in good spirits. The three boys seemed to have grown taller, which made her smile and her eyes crinkle with joy.

Then, thinking of Madam Xiao beside him, he immediately said, "Ayu, you came back at just the right time. Madam Xiang was just about to leave when you ran into her. If you had been a quarter of an hour later, you two would have missed each other."

Xiao Ruojun laughed from the side, "Yes, I was regretting that I couldn't see you one last time before I left and say goodbye in person. I didn't expect you to come back at that time."

Shu Yu was taken aback. "Before leaving?"

Xiao Ruojun nodded with a smile, her expression very calm. "Yes, I'm leaving now, heading back to the capital."

The old lady quickly said, "Alright, Ayu is back. Madam Xiang, please stay here for dinner before you leave. Come in and let's talk."

Xiao Ruojun paused for a moment, then turned back and followed Shu Yu and the others back to the front hall.

The old lady didn't disturb them; since Ayu was back, they'd have plenty of time to talk. She had tea served and then invited Shu Rui and the other two to tell her about their experiences along the way.

The old lady was busy, and Shu Yu chuckled and shook her head. After everyone had left, she asked Madam Xiao, "Did Lord Xiang send someone to pick you up?"
