Chapter 2075 The Lou Family's Divorce
As for Ruan Hai, all he needs to do is keep the Ruan brothers calm before the funeral.
His plan was originally in good shape, and he was about 80% confident that it would succeed.
Who knew that when his cousin went to see Ruan Shi a second time, he brought unexpected news—Ruan Shi would be coming.
Ruan Hai was so angry he laughed. He really couldn't understand what Ruan Shi was thinking, knowing full well that this was a den of thieves, yet still insisting on going there. Hadn't she and Granny Ruan broken off all ties long ago? Wouldn't the rest of the Lu family stop her?
There was no other way, so Nguyen Hai still gathered the villagers that afternoon, partly to show the Nguyen brothers what to do, and partly to prevent any accidents from happening.
When the carriage entered the village, Ruan Hai breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing that there was only one carriage.
The presence of a horse-drawn carriage suggests that it couldn't have been the entire Lu family; at most, it would have been Mr. and Mrs. Ruan.
However, when the carriage curtain was opened, Shu Yu's face was revealed.
The person Ruan Hai least wanted to see—had arrived.
He felt a sudden darkness before his eyes and almost fainted.
He then kept a close watch, hoping that Shu Yu would get rid of the Ruan brothers and return quickly.
Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse. The county princess didn't leave, and Ruan Chengqian, while trying to catch wild game for her, discovered the burial site.
Even now, Ruan Hai still feels that this is an accident.
After all, Shu Yu had only been there for a day, and the two of them, master and servant, had been under their surveillance all day. They hadn't been up the mountain or to any other place, so how could they possibly have suddenly discovered the burial place of a murdered person?
It's just too much of a coincidence.
Shu Yu could only say... what a coincidence! She never expected that the Ruan brothers had played a part in exposing the murder and burial case.
Having confessed everything they needed to, Ruan Hai and his son slumped listlessly in the courtroom.
Lord Xie began to pronounce the sentence: "Ruan Kewei, for murder and burying the body, is sentenced to death. Ruan Hai, as the village chief, knowingly broke the law by helping Ruan Kewei bury the body and cover it up, and will be sentenced to forced labor."
Ruan Kewei's eyes were lifeless; was he sentenced to death?
He raised his head and lunged forward, "My lord, my lord, I don't want to die, I'm innocent."
They've already confessed to their crimes and signed the indictment; going back on their word now is nothing more than a death throes.
Lord Xie was too lazy to pay him any attention and ordered the officers to drag the man away.
Just then, a person rushed in from outside, saying, "My lord, I have a request for your help."
Lord Xie frowned. "Who is below?"
"The woman, surnamed Lou, is Ruan Kewei's wife."
"Come in."
Lou hurriedly knelt down in the courtroom, and facing the puzzled looks of everyone present, she respectfully kowtowed.
"What do you have to say?" Lord Xie slammed his gavel, his expression serious.
Lou took a deep breath. "My lord, I want to divorce Ruan Kewei, this murderer."
Lord Xie looked up, and Ruan Kewei immediately turned her head, staring at her in disbelief, and was about to pounce on her. Fortunately, the officers were quick-witted and restrained her.
"You bitch, what did you say?"
"Quiet." Lord Xie gave Ruan Kewei a cold look. He knew about the Lou family and knew that it was the Lou family who risked being beaten to death to learn about his murder from Ruan Kewei.
However, for Lou's safety, and to prevent her from being retaliated against by other members of the Ruan family, she was not allowed to appear in court to testify.
As for Lady Lou's desire for a divorce, Lord Xie was naturally aware of it.
"Mrs. Lou, do you want a divorce because Ruan Kewei is a murderer?"
