Chapter 222 Yuan Shanchuan Did Not Travel Far

Chapter 222 Yuan Shanchuan Did Not Travel Far

That's indeed what happened. The Yuan family reported the case, and it was recorded in the county government's files.

But the officers knew very well that the case would only be pushed down the chain of command. Right now, everyone in the county government, including Lord Xiang, was prioritizing stabilizing some of the unstable factors within Jiangyuan County. They were also investigating the original officials and collecting evidence of crimes, all with the aim of bringing down the Shu family, the prefect of Dong'an Prefecture.

Let alone a missing person case like the Yuan family's, where there's no useful information and the search is aimless. Even more important cases can only be suppressed and postponed for now.

So when the Yuan family reported the case yesterday, the clerk in charge of recording quickly put the case file at the very bottom.

It wasn't that they were neglecting their duties; it was simply that they were short-handed. Minor cases like these were basically assigned to the officials who already worked at the county government and hadn't made any mistakes.

However, those officials, under the leadership of the former magistrate, were inefficient and slow in their work, and not very clever either. By the time it's the Yuan family's turn, it will probably be ten days to half a month.

However, what the officers and soldiers did not expect was that Yuan Shanchuan was actually Miss Lu's uncle.

It seems that the Yuan family went back and said that the government was not taking this matter seriously, so Miss Lu came in person.

This is a bit awkward.

Fortunately, Shu Yu quickly defused the awkward situation. "When the Yuan family came to report the case the day before yesterday, they were in a panic and had no clue what to do. I thought, how can we find someone like this? We don't even have a direction, and we're just adding to your burden. Then we thought about it and suddenly came up with a clue, so I came here to see if this direction is useful."

The soldier immediately asked, "Which direction?"

“Travel permit,” Shu Yu said. “We thought that if we could use the travel permit, we could find out whether my uncle had traveled far or not. If he hadn’t, then we could narrow down the search area.”

The officer was taken aback. Indeed, if the officials were truly looking for someone, the first thing they would do was check the travel permit. That made sense.

"So, Yuan Shanchuan disappeared more than half a month ago, right? I'll go find the clerk now and check if he has traveled far."

Shu Yu immediately said gratefully, "You've really gone to so much trouble."

"It's nothing, just a small favor," the soldier said. "Wait here for me a moment."

After he finished speaking, he turned and ran inside. Shu Yu looked at the sun; it was getting hot, so she figured she'd have to wait a while.

There was a tea stall in the distance, and Shu Yu sat down there with the old lady and ordered two bowls of cold tea.

The old lady was quite excited, "I didn't expect that officer to be so kind."

Shu Yu coughed lightly and offered her some tea.

The streets were bustling with people, and after a quarter of an hour, Shu Yu saw the soldiers come out of the county government office.

She immediately stood up, took the bowl of cold tea from the table, and went to greet him.

Before the soldier could speak, Shu Yu handed it over, saying, "Thank you for your hard work, sir. Have some cool tea first, and then we can talk."

The officers and soldiers were taken aback for a moment, then chuckled, feeling instantly comforted.

This young woman may not be very old, but the things she does are very comforting.

After finishing his bowl of tea, he raised his head and said, "I've checked. Yuan Shanchuan hasn't gone far. He's still within a hundred miles of here, so we can narrow down the search area."

Shu Yu and the old lady exchanged a glance, and the latter let out a long sigh of relief.

But soon my heart was in my throat again. If Yuan Shanchuan wasn't far away, then where did he go?
