Chapter 2327 Returning to the Inn
Zhao Xi glanced at his room with a look of disgust and said, "I can't sleep well."
It's as if the reason he can't sleep is because there's someone else in the room.
Actually, he was deliberately waiting here for Meng Yunzheng to return. He knew that Meng Yunzheng should be back around this time. If he didn't come out and lead the man into the room, it would be easy for the other staff and the manager of the inn to expose him when they came to work.

He ran away as soon as he finished speaking.
A short while later, he came back upstairs carrying a basket.
There were two people in a room not far from the second floor who had been watching the commotion. When they saw the waiter carrying something up, they looked at each other and whispered, "Why did they suddenly want jackfruit?"
"They even carried it up in a basket on their backs, and that basket was quite big."
"There's enough room to hide a person in here."
"Could it be that Lord Qi is inside?"

The person in the room opened the door, and one of them walked over while yawning. When he got to Meng Yunzheng's side, he suddenly stumbled and leaned on him.
Meng Yunzheng cried out and quickly steadied himself, but he fell to the ground. The cloth covering his basket fell off, and two huge jackfruits inside also fell directly to the ground.
The jackfruit split open from the fall, and both of them were ruined.
The person keeping watch was taken aback. Was the basket really filled with jackfruit?

The person keeping watch snapped out of it and immediately said, "I'm sorry, it was my fault. I'll pay for the jackfruit."
As he spoke, he took out some loose silver from his pocket and stuffed it into Meng Yunzheng's arms. After saying a few more apologies, he hurried back to his room. He didn't want to linger in front of Zhao Xi for too long, lest he arouse suspicion, so he dared not linger any longer.
As soon as he left, Zhao Xi frowned and said, "You broke this jackfruit, I can't take it."
Meng Yunzheng immediately stood up. "I'll change them for you. Young Master Zhao, please wait a moment while I go buy two more. I have the money."
After saying that, he put the two broken jackfruits into the basket, picked them up, and hurried downstairs.
Zhao Xi clicked his tongue, looked at his retreating figure, and shook his head. "Too careless."
He waited a little while before Meng Yunzheng returned. He looked very tired and huffed as he went upstairs. "Young Master Zhao, I've changed it for you. Don't worry, it'll definitely be big and sweet."
Zhao Xi nodded and stepped aside, "Alright, carry me in."
