Chapter 2368 What Shu Quan Told Me
Liu Jie thought: Meng Yunzheng is skilled but he can't handle him, but killing a traitor is more than enough for him.
Rong Hou thought everyone in the room had collapsed, so he used a stronger medicine this time. Unexpectedly, Liu Jie, who looked like he was about to collapse, was still able to suddenly launch an attack.
Meng Yunzheng, who was behind Rong Hou, immediately called out upon seeing this, "Be careful."
It was too late. Rong Hou's martial arts talent was not as good as his brother's. He only knew some fancy moves and couldn't even withstand a single move from a master like Liu Jie. The long sword pierced his chest, and blood flowed down the blade onto the ground.
Meng Yunzheng suddenly kicked Liu Jie away. Liu Jie clutched his chest, watched Rong Hou fall to the ground with a thud, and chuckled twice.
He looked up at Meng Yunzheng and asked, "If I kill Rong Hou, will you kill me to pay for it?"
He knew Meng Yunzheng wouldn't do that, otherwise he would have used poison from the start.
Meng Yunzheng's face was tense. He ordered his men to carry Rong Hou away to show Zhao Xi, and to tie up all the others.
Shu Yu walked to the bedside and looked at the boy. He seemed to have been awakened by the commotion in the room and squinted at her. Although he looked like he was seriously injured and had not yet recovered, his eyes revealed a fierce look.
Shu Yu chuckled softly, "I'm very curious, what exactly is your identity that makes them protect you like this?"
"You...may die a horrible...death."
Shu Yu grabbed a pillow from the side and covered his face with it until he passed out before letting go. "You're half dead, and you're still spouting threats."
The boy fainted, but Zhao Xi arrived shortly afterward.
This young man cannot die yet; with his identity, he must still be of some use.
Zhao Xi entered, bringing with him the news of Rong Hou's death. Liu Jie was determined to kill him and was a skilled killer; he knew exactly where the fatal wound was and understood that if he missed his first strike, there would be no chance.
Rong Hou died before he could see Zhao Xi.
Meng Yunzheng simply nodded in response. Rong Hou had committed numerous evil deeds and had caused a great deal of harm to people in the black market. If he weren't somewhat useful, Meng Yunzheng wouldn't have kept him around.
However, he had promised Ronghou that he would treat his family well, and that as long as his family did not participate in the rebellion and behaved themselves, he would ask the emperor for a favor.
After dealing with Ronghou's matter, the next step was to find out more about the situation.
The boy's injuries hadn't healed yet, so naturally, they couldn't lay a hand on him. Liu Jie was a tough nut to crack; getting anything out of him wouldn't be easy.
So, Meng Yunzheng turned his attention to Shu Feng, whom he was somewhat...familiar with, trying to squeeze some money out of him.
When Shu Feng woke up, everything was dark, as if his eyes were covered by a cloth.
He moved his hands and feet, and sure enough, he was tied up very tightly.
"Lu Shuyu!" Shu Feng shifted in his chair. "Are you here? What do you want to do?"
Shu Yu propped her head up and glanced at him. "Why are you so agitated? What can I do for you? I just want to ask you a few questions."
Shu Feng sneered, "Ask me questions? You won't get any information from me."
"I don't think you know much, you don't even know my master's instructions. I'm just wondering, wasn't my master arrested by you in the first place?"
Shu Feng was taken aback. "How did you know?" He immediately regretted asking such a stupid question. The master and disciple must have met by now.
To everyone's surprise, Shu Yu said, "Of course... it was Shu Quan who told me."
