Chapter 238 Dolls

Chapter 238 Dolls

Lu Erbai suddenly felt a lot of pressure.

After hearing Shu Yu's explanation, Ruan Shi exchanged a glance with Daya and quickly returned the silver that the old lady had given her earlier.

However, Shu Yu refused to accept it, saying, "Mother and eldest sister, take it first. You can't be without money, can you? Consider it an advance on your wages. It's the same as having Father write it down in the ledger."

Shu Yu didn't get back the ten taels of silver that the old lady had just taken out, and of course, household expenses still needed to be covered.

The Lu family held a brief meeting to summarize the day's business, and then, looking at the money they had earned, returned to their rooms to rest with great excitement.

Shu Yu was calmer than the others, fell asleep quickly and peacefully.

So much so that the next morning, when the Lu family members had all left in high spirits, she finally stretched and got out of bed.

Shu Yu lives in a small room by herself. She has a lot to do and sometimes needs to write and draw, so she doesn't want to be disturbed. Therefore, the Lu family unanimously decided to let her live in a room by herself.

So everyone went out, and Shuyu wasn't woken up.

As she stepped out of the room, she saw the old woman sitting in the yard stuffing scraps of cloth into her clothes.

The day before, Daya had sewed several dolls, cats and dogs, which were especially cute. Coincidentally, the scraps of fabric that Lu Dong's family had given her earlier had been washed and dried a couple of days ago, so they could be stuffed together and used as cushions.

Hearing footsteps, the old lady turned around and saw that Shuyu had gotten up. She immediately smiled and said, "Go wash your face. There's some warm porridge and bread for you in the kitchen."

"Okay." Shu Yu strolled into the kitchen.

A moment later, he came out with a bowl and sat down next to the old lady. "Grandma, did Da Hu and San Ya go to the shop too?"

"Yes, that's why I had your father learn more characters yesterday. Today, not only your father, but also your eldest daughter and the two younger ones went to the shop to learn more while the shop wasn't busy."

Shu Yu nodded, it's a good thing that everyone in the family has ambition.

Once she's dealt with Jiang Sanshao's matter, she should send Dahu to school.

"Ayu, I have something to tell you." The old lady suddenly stopped what she was doing, turned around and spoke in a serious tone.

Shu Yu asked in confusion, "Grandma, what do you say?"

"Look at this doll, I think it's really cute. I put one in this morning, and Sanya and Dahu loved it so much, they hugged it over and over and didn't want to let go. Daya didn't say anything, but I could tell she liked it a lot too. So I was thinking, the shop doesn't have many clothes, so it looks empty. Why don't we make more dolls to put on the shelves? Maybe a lot of people will like them and want to buy them, right?"

Shu Yu smiled and nodded, "Yes."

Upon hearing her affirmation, the old lady immediately perked up. "If you think it's feasible, then I'll go and collect more scraps of cloth. These scraps are cheap; you can get a whole basket for twenty coins at the cloth shop. As for the dolls, your mother and Daya don't need to make them; I can do it myself. It's quite simple."

Seeing that she was very interested, Shu Yu naturally didn't object. "It's possible, but Grandma, won't you be too busy?"

"No, no, if you're too busy, just do less. We'll just make a little money, no pressure."

Shu Yu felt that the old lady was the one who truly understood life; she was considering whether they should buy two servants. Even if the old lady didn't make extra money by making dolls, she was still very tired managing so many things at home at her age.
