Chapter 43 The Most Handsome Man
As soon as the courtyard gate was locked, Shu Yu heard Liang Shi's voice behind her, "Hey, Second Sister-in-law, where are you going?"
Ruan and Liang didn't actually have much contact, and they even had a few conflicts. When they met, they would pretend not to know each other.
Who knew that Mrs. Liang would take the initiative to greet her today? It must be thanks to the bowl of noodles from yesterday.
Ruan replied in a low voice, "Er Ya has gone home. We need to go to the county town to see Mother."
Madam Liang secretly pursed her lips, but smiled and said, "Then take care, Second Sister-in-law."
Ms. Ruan nodded and took the two children's hands to leave.
As Shu Yu passed by Liang Shi, she asked, "Why haven't I seen Third Uncle?"
"Oh, him? He went out early this morning. What's wrong? Did Er Ya need him for something?" Liang's eyes gleamed.
Shu Yu just smiled and said, "No, I was just asking casually."
She figured Lu Sanzhu must have gone to inquire about Granny Ruan. It was surprising that he, who usually slacked off and didn't do any work, was so enthusiastic about this kind of inquiring.
But that's fine too, she wanted to know sooner rather than later.
The four of them quickly arrived at the village entrance. Sanya held Shuyu's hand tightly the whole time, glancing up at her every now and then.
Several times, when he was about to fall, Shuyu caught him.
There were few people at the village entrance; they had set off rather late. The villagers who were going to the county town had all left before dawn.
If it were just Mrs. Ruan alone, she could simply walk there.
Now we can only wait for a vehicle at the village entrance. Usually, only one or two oxcarts or donkey carts pass by, and they always come early in the morning.
Today is market day, so there will be two more donkey carts soliciting passengers. I reckon I can get a ride in a little while.
Shu Yu looked around and saw a large rock not far away. Just as he was about to invite Ruan Shi to sit down, Da Hu tugged at his hand.
She was taken aback and looked down at him.
Da Hu pointed to the people walking over in the distance and introduced them in a low voice, "Second Sister, look, that's Tang, the scholar from our village. He's amazing, he passed the imperial examination at only eighteen years old."
Shu Yu raised her head and looked at the man who was getting closer and closer to her.
He was indeed very young, a bit thin, and carrying a book box on his back as he walked into the village.
Judging from his appearance, he must have just returned from the county or town.
As they got closer, Da Hu, afraid that Tang Xiucai would hear him, quickly shut his mouth, but his eyes were filled with envy and admiration as he looked at Tang Xiucai.
Tang Xiucai walked past them without glancing to the side, and quickly passed them and entered the village.
As soon as he disappeared, Sanya said, "Second sister, isn't Tang Xiucai exceptionally handsome? He's the most handsome person I've ever seen, and he's also very good at studying, so he must be very smart."
Shu Yu chuckled. "This is the most handsome one? Second Sister has seen even more handsome ones. That one was truly a man of exceptional talent, refined and elegant, like a jade tree in full bloom. Although his smile was a bit fake, it didn't detract from his exquisite features and magnetic voice at all."
That kind of voice, so beautiful it could make you pregnant, probably refers to that person.
Sanya's eyes widened. "Second sister, you used so many idioms just now. You're so knowledgeable."
Shu Yu, "..." Is that all you're focusing on?
"Second sister, what does 'bright wind and moonlit nights' mean?"
Is it a scene of clear skies and gentle breeze?
Shu Yu chuckled, "This is a metaphor for a broad mind and a kind heart."
