Chapter 443 The former manager was fired
Further into the bamboo forest, the road narrowed. Shu Yu got out of the car and was about to walk in when a person suddenly appeared from the side and stopped her.
"Who are you?"
Shu Yu took out the jade token and said, "I need to see your manager. I have something to sell."
She was dressed in men's clothing and looked very aloof. She held a jade token in her hand, which showed that she was familiar with the black market.
The man's attitude became respectful, and he led her to the side, saying, "Please follow me, guest."
Returning to the familiar manor, Shu Yu felt a little emotional.
Upon entering the manor, Shu Yu was led to a room near the entrance to wait, and was not allowed to proceed further inside.
"Please wait here, sir. I will go and inform the manager."
Shu Yu nodded, standing silently in the room observing everything, and didn't drink the tea that was brought to her.
Although she had the jade pendant, the fact that the steward had openly snatched the painting from her uncle's hands last time still made her wary.
After waiting for about the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, a middle-aged man who looked quite capable walked over.
As soon as he entered, he smiled and said to Shu Yu, "Guest, you've been waiting for a long time. Please have a seat."
Shu Yu sat opposite him, looked him up and down for a moment, and then said suspiciously, "The manager I saw last time didn't seem to be you."
The middle-aged man was taken aback, but said nonchalantly, "He was incompetent and no longer works here."
Incompetence?
Shu Yu thought for a moment and realized that it must have been when Zhao Xi shouted that there was a thief, which caused quite a commotion and alerted the guests in the front hall.
Given the strict rules of the black market, there will likely be an investigation into the thieves afterward.
This investigation will likely uncover that the manager openly stole the painting, prompting his uncle to return and hide in the black market to try and steal it back, which led to the series of events that followed.
The manager's actions were indeed tarnishing the reputation of the black market, so it was only natural that he was dismissed or punished.
Shu Yu felt quite pleased. She had thought she would be facing that same manager again and was even considering taking the opportunity to teach him a lesson.
It's no longer needed.
Shu Yu nodded to the middle-aged man in front of him and did not ask any further questions about the steward. "May I ask your surname, sir?"
"My surname is Guo," Mr. Guo said, getting straight to the point. "I heard from my servants that a guest wants to sell a treasure, but I don't know what it is. May I take a look?"
“Of course, it still needs to be appraised by you, sir.” Shu Yu took the bundle off his back, placed it on the table, and untied it to reveal the box inside.
This box was bought by Shu Yu, costing her a tael of silver. It really hurt her heart.
But there's no other way; good packaging is what drives up the price.
Shu Yu opened the box, revealing a glass mirror wrapped in a silk bag.
As soon as a corner of it was revealed, Mr. Guo's eyes widened involuntarily, and his shocked expression was clearly reflected in the glass mirror.
"This is……"
"A mirror." Shu Yu carefully took out the entire mirror. "This is an imported item, different from the bronze mirrors here. It reflects very clearly. Mr. Guo can see that it can even clearly reflect the reflection in your eyes."
Even if Shu Yu hadn't said anything, Mr. Guo would have seen it.
He carefully wiped his hands with the cloth before taking it and examining it closely.
The more I look at it, the more I like it; the more I look at it, the more I can't put it down. "This is a good thing, it really is a good thing."
