Chapter 458 Prison Food
As night fell, the cell fell silent once more.
The Shu family members sat one after another and slowly fell asleep.
Shu Yu then raised her head again and looked through her arm at the Shu family members. She then discovered that the Shu family young ladies in this cell had been divided into two factions, which looked clearly distinct.
The eldest daughter of the Shu family has always looked down on the daughters of concubines. The eldest daughter of the first wife is the eldest daughter of the legitimate family, while the fourth and seventh daughters of the second wife are the eldest daughters of the legitimate family.
These people then squeezed together with the young woman.
As for illegitimate daughters...
Shu Yu looked at the second daughter who was at the head of the group. The second daughter, who had been following cautiously behind the eldest daughter, probably knew that after the Shu family suffered this disaster, everyone in the Shu family knew that the eldest master Shu's most beloved daughter was her, an illegitimate daughter.
The second young lady no longer hid her true intentions as before and quickly revealed her cunning. She didn't want to be targeted by the eldest young lady and the others on the road to exile. Now, both the eldest daughter of the Shu family and Madam Shu resented her to the extreme.
So the second daughter quickly banded together and won over the fifth and sixth daughters of the Shu family to her side.
Now the two sides are right next to each other, but neither side pays any attention to the other.
However, it now seems that the person they are all targeting has become themselves.
Shu Yu pursed her lips, closed her eyes, and went to sleep.
She was always alert, and just as dawn was breaking the next day, she suddenly heard footsteps.
Looking up, she saw the eleven-year-old seventh girl approaching her.
When she saw that she had woken up, the Seventh Sister was startled, glared at her fiercely, and then left.
Shu Yu noticed that before she left, she tossed a cockroach at her feet.
Shu Yu silently moved her foot over, stepped on it, and remained still.
The seventh sister widened her eyes, snorted coldly, and returned to her sister's side.
Shu Yu said in a low voice, "Actually, when I was in the Shu family, Aunt Xue often locked me in a dark room. I've caught cockroaches, rats, and snakes. I'm not afraid of them."
It was this girl, who used to be very delicate at home, who surprised her by daring to catch cockroaches with her bare hands.
It seems that the month I spent in this prison cell wasn't wasted.
Hearing her say that, the Seventh Sister became even angrier.
But she didn't dare to actually start a conflict with her here, so she could only glare fiercely at Shu Yu again before turning back to her sister's side.
Shu Yu closed her eyes and continued to rest.
She only turned her head to look when she heard footsteps beside her.
The food delivery person was coming. I could smell a odor from afar, but it wasn't a pleasant smell, nor was it a sour smell. It was a very complicated smell.
The jailer who delivered the food carried a bucket containing a hodgepodge that looked like swill, with a lot of soup in it.
When the jailer placed it on the ground, some of the soup spilled out with a 'bang'.
"Time to eat, time to eat, stop dawdling."
Meal service started from the outermost cells. The servants of the Shu family gradually got up and gathered at the cell door.
The jailer gave each of them a bowl, then stirred it a couple of times with a large spoon before scooping it into their bowls.
One spoonful is enough for one bowl, just right.
They then went to the second cell, where, like before, each person had only one bowl.
Compared to the servants in the outermost cell, the Shu family's masters clearly disliked them much more and were not enthusiastic about eating.
But no matter how much they complained, there was nothing they could do; they couldn't just not eat. Even after being exiled, they still needed physical strength.
After the food was served in both cells, the bucket was empty.
