Chapter 580 Dealing with the Second Young Lady
Thinking of this, Madam Hou narrowed her eyes. "I think that since it is a scourge, it will harm all of us sooner or later."
Shu Yu nodded. "That's what I think too."
Hou took a deep breath. "Then what should we do?"
She was prepared to personally deal with the second young lady, but Shu Yu laughed and said, "I'll just put on a show and say a few words in a bit."
Hou was taken aback. "Say a few words?"
"Hmm." Shu Yu turned to look at the sixth young lady. "Sixth sister, take the bowls and chopsticks to the kitchen later, and while you're at it, see if the second madam is here. When she comes out alone, deliberately sneak back in to lure the second madam over. Can you do that?"
The sixth girl blinked, then nodded quickly, "Yes, I can do it."
The sixth young lady is growing up very fast. In the past, the Hou family wouldn't let her get involved in many things, but that's no longer the case. If she continues to be so ignorant, she won't be able to survive.
Therefore, when Hou and Shu Yu talked, they no longer avoided talking to the Sixth Miss.
After Shu Yu finished giving her instructions, the sixth girl quickly took the bowls and chopsticks back to the kitchen.
After she left, Shu Yu whispered a few words to Madam Hou, who nodded repeatedly after hearing them.
A short while later, the Sixth Miss quietly returned. As she turned to close the door, she silently pointed outside and said, "The Second Madam has arrived."
Shu Yu laughed, and Madam Hou immediately sat up straight and scolded the sixth young lady, "Why did it take so long? Didn't I tell you to come back as soon as you finished washing the dishes?"
"I heard that my eldest sister and second sister had a fight, so I wanted to go and see what was going on, but who knew they were done arguing?" the sixth sister said in a low voice.
Hou scolded, "What's so interesting about that? We're like oil and water now. Stay away from those things from now on, do you hear me? If they see you acting suspiciously, they'll think you're going to steal something from them."
The second wife, who was eavesdropping outside the door, pursed her lips. She had indeed thought that the sixth young lady was trying to steal their grain when she saw her guilty look. But now it seemed that she wasn't.
The sixth girl argued softly, "Mother, it's not that serious. When we came here, we were all penniless. What could we possibly steal? They can't slander me like this if there's nothing to it."
"You said you..." Madam Hou wanted to say a few more words to her.
However, Shu Yu suddenly interrupted her, smiling as she looked at the sixth sister, "Sixth sister, you're too naive. Who says you can't be slandered if there's nothing to it? Others may not know, but your second sister is a different story. She's incredibly cunning; she could kill you without you even realizing it."
Hou was startled. "It can't be that bad, can it?"
"Why not?" Shu Yu sighed. "I didn't want to say this, but Sixth Sister still hasn't come to terms with the facts. She might suffer in the future. It's fine if you suffer, but don't drag me down with you."
"What's wrong?"
"That day in Linzhang Prefecture, the leading constable called me over and spoke to me alone for a few minutes, as you all know. Because I told them the location where I buried the silver, the leading constable did me a favor and told me a secret."
Upon hearing the word "secret," the second wife outside the door widened her eyes, held her breath, and pressed her ear even closer.
Hou asked hurriedly, "What secret?"
"Seventh Sister, she was pushed into the water and drowned by your seemingly frail Second Sister."
"Wh...what?"
