Chapter 612 Zhao Xi is not here
Unlike the Shu family, Fang Xiyue didn't bother to inquire before finding a quack doctor to come to her door to treat her.
They knew that the doctor who had been exiled to Zhengdao Village was not very capable, so how could they dare to let him come to their door and treat Fang's father's illness indiscriminately?
Fang Xiyue and her mother had discussed it and decided to cut back on their daily food intake. Once Grandpa Lan stopped keeping such a close eye on their family, they would try to find a doctor elsewhere to examine Fang's father.
Before she could even take action, Shu Yu told her that their family had a doctor with excellent medical skills, and Fang Xiyue was overjoyed.
She opened her mouth, then said somewhat shyly but urgently, "Could you take a look at my dad now?"
"Now?" Shu Yu was taken aback. "I'm fine with it, but I don't know if he's home. I have to go back and check before I can give you an answer."
"Okay, then I'll go back with you."
Shu Yu had no objection, and the two of them headed towards the Lu family's house first. When they passed Fang Xiyue's house, she didn't go back in.
Unfortunately, Zhao Xi was not at home.
He went to the county town, and he hasn't been gone long. He went into the mountains to collect herbs this morning, and left in his mule cart this afternoon. Yesterday, Da Hu wrote a letter home, and Zhao Xi mailed it home while also going to the county town to buy things.
Fang Xiyue was somewhat disappointed, but there was nothing she could do; the person wasn't there, so she could only wait.
After learning about her situation, the old lady comforted her, "Don't worry, Da Niu will definitely be back by evening. I'll talk to him when he gets back, and then I'll come to your house to check on him."
Fang Xiyue nodded, "Thank you, Grandma Lu."
Since Zhao Xi wasn't there, Shu Yu decided to go for a walk at the foot of the mountain and pick some mushrooms and wild vegetables.
She gave the pheasants to the old lady, saying, "Grandma, stew both of these pheasants. They're dead anyway, they won't keep for long."
The old lady held the pheasant, looking it over from left to right; it was quite plump.
"Okay, then let's eat this tonight. You can have the big chicken leg."
Shu Yu found it amusing, took two baskets, carried one on her own back, and handed the other to Fang Xiyue, saying, "Grandma, we're off now."
"Be careful." The old lady watched the two leave, and muttered a couple of words, "Really, since they finished their work so early, they should just stay home and rest. Why do they have to go out and work? Aren't they afraid of getting tired?"
Hearing the sounds behind him, Shu Yu smiled and walked with Fang Xiyue toward the foot of the mountain.
The two had been to the mountains before and had noticed that the wild vegetables and mushrooms there grew plump and abundant, so they went straight to their destination as soon as they arrived at the foot of the mountain.
They worked quickly and soon their baskets were full of fruit.
It was still early, so Shu Yu decided to take the basket home first. There were a lot of wild shiitake mushrooms and wood ear mushrooms in this area, which added to the weight, making it really heavy.
Both of these can be dried and eaten slowly, so there's no need to worry about picking too many and wasting them.
Fang Xiyue shared the same idea, and the two of them immediately went home.
The pheasant that Fang Xiyue originally brought was still at Shu Yu's house, so she sent it back to her own house as well.
Now only her father lives in her family; her mother has gone to work in the wasteland.
Now that Fang Xiyue was back, she thought she should go see her father and give him some water.
As soon as he entered the room, he saw his father lying on the ground, struggling to crawl out.
Fang Xiyue was startled. She quickly put down the basket and pheasant on her shoulder and rushed over. "Dad, you fell off the bed? Are you alright? Are you hurt?"
