Chapter 646 Mr. Qi has indeed arrived.

Chapter 646 Mr. Qi has indeed arrived.

Shu Yu said that Lord Qi would be coming today, but it's already past noon, and she doesn't know if he's arrived yet.

Hou was wondering if she should ask for leave and go back to Zhengdao Village to take a look.

As she pondered this matter, she inevitably became distracted, slowing down her work and nearly knocking over the basket of clods of earth.

The commotion quickly attracted the attention of the guards.

He immediately pointed at Hou and yelled, "What are you doing? Are you trying to slack off? If you don't work properly, believe me, I'll beat you to death!"

"Who are you going to kill?" A strange voice suddenly came from behind.

The officer turned his head and saw a man behind him dressed in a tight-fitting outfit, expressionless, with an astonishing aura.

The official was stunned for a moment, and his arrogant attitude instantly subsided.

The man glanced at him, then turned his head to look at the carriage not far behind him.

The constable followed his gaze and, upon seeing the carriage's emblem, his expression changed drastically. He abruptly knelt down, saying, "I was unaware of your arrival, sir. I have failed to greet you properly and hope you will forgive me."

The carriage stopped, and two people got out.

The man in front was dressed in official robes, his spirit was high and his eyes were sharp.

The person behind him was dressed casually, and looked kind, gentle, and polite.

The two walked up to the group one after the other. When Hou saw the person behind her, her eyes widened and she exclaimed, "Mr. Qi, Mr. Qi?"

Upon hearing this, the officer exclaimed, "Wow, this prisoner actually knows someone close to the governor!"

Qi Chan smiled and nodded at Aunt Hou, "I didn't expect to meet you again."

He introduced him to the Hou family, saying, "This is Governor Cheng."

Madam Hou was startled and quickly pulled her daughter down to kneel, respectfully paying their respects to Lord Cheng.

However, he was once again convinced by what Shu Yu had said. Shu Yu was right; Lord Qi was indeed working for a very important person.

Upon hearing this, the other prisoners on the wasteland also quickly knelt down.

Lord Cheng told everyone to rise, "No need for formalities, I've just come to take a look."

He stood on the steep slope, surveyed the area, and then delivered a speech that was both reassuring and encouraging. He asked some questions, checked the progress of the land reclamation, and after a while, nodded in satisfaction before dismissing everyone.

Qi Chan followed behind Lord Cheng and left. Aunt Hou pursed her lips, about to speak, when the guard in the close-fitting clothes said to her, "Come with me."

Hou was taken aback and quickly followed.

The other prisoners watched from afar, filled with envy.

The Shu family was far away and didn't notice at first. Later, when the gossip spread and someone asked about their lineage, the Shu family realized that it seemed that Madam Hou knew the governor.

By the time the rumors reached their ears, they had become somewhat distorted.

For a moment, the Shu family really didn't think of Lord Qi.

Hou held the sixth young lady's hand and carefully followed behind the guard, walking all the way to a teahouse not far away.

The teahouse was not very large; it was merely a temporary resting place for the guards.

At this moment, Lord Cheng and Qi Chan were sitting in the teahouse, waiting for the Hou family.

As soon as Madam Hou entered, she quickly knelt down before the two men.

Lord Cheng was quite easy to talk to. After looking Hou up and down, he told her to get up.

"Are you the Hou family member that Mr. Qi mentioned who helped him on the road?"

Aunt Hou, standing to the side, quickly said, "Your Excellency, that was just a coincidence. It was only because Mr. Qi was lucky that he escaped disaster."
