Chapter 74 Encountering an Acquaintance

Chapter 74 Encountering an Acquaintance

After paying, Shu Yu turned to Lu Sanzhu and said, "Third Uncle, you stay here and help me get the medicine. I'll go to town and see if I can rent a mule cart."

"Alright, alright, you go ahead, don't worry about leaving this to me."

The way you're saying that makes people uneasy.

Shu Yu said goodbye to Lu Erbai and Ruan Shi and then went out.

Besides renting a car, her main purpose in going out this time was to find out the prices of shops in the county town.

Shu Yu wanted to buy a shop, but she didn't have enough money. Even if she could buy one in a remote location, she wouldn't have enough capital for renovations and other purchases.

It seems I'll have to rent a room.

Shu Yu walked slowly along the street. Her target customers were women, specifically women with a certain amount of money who were willing to spend it.

She had looked around; there weren't many ready-made clothing shops here, and these days there were few customers buying ready-made clothes. Wealthy families had their own embroiderers and servants, while those without money could simply buy a piece of cloth and make themselves a simple outfit. On the other hand, the fabric shops were packed tightly together, with many shops crammed together along one street.

As Shu Yu looked around, she noticed that there were very few shops available for rent, especially on the street she had her eye on, where there were only two small shops in a very inconspicuous location.

In the end, Shu Yu went to the middleman and asked them to keep an eye out for her. After explaining her terms, she said she would come back in a couple of days, acting as if she wasn't in a hurry, but in reality, she didn't have much time.

After resolving that matter, Shu Yu went to buy some more things. Da Hu and San Ya's shoes were badly damaged, with their toes sticking out. They could cut corners on other things later, but they couldn't skimp on this.

After buying the shoes, Shu Yu went to pick out two pieces of fabric. She wanted Ruan Shi to try making the clothes she wanted in the next couple of days.

Shu Yu bought other miscellaneous items as she saw them.

After she finished carrying a large pile of things, she went to rent a mule cart. There was no need to look for anyone else; the driver she had rented last time was quite good, so she went to him again.

By the time all this was done, it was past noon.

Seeing Shu Yu return carrying so many things, Madam Ruan looked utterly helpless.

Lu Erbai sighed, "Don't waste money. We don't have much money, so there's no rush to buy those things. Just take good care of yourself, and your parents will be happy."

"I know, I won't spend recklessly anymore." That's what she said, but she still spent just as much as she should have.

Shu Yu handed the things in her hands to Ruan Shi, and then she and the envious Lu Sanzhu helped their father slowly walk towards the door.

The mule cart was parked outside. Shu Yu got on the cart first, and then bent down to help Lu Erbai.

Unexpectedly, Lu Erbai stopped halfway through reaching out his hand.

Shu Yu asked curiously, "Dad, what's wrong?"

This was the first time Shu Yu had called someone "father," and it came out very naturally. Standing behind him, Ruan Shi was so excited that she almost dropped her things.

However, Lu Erbai, the person involved, focused all his attention on the position directly in front of him and did not hear what Shu Yu said at all.

He pointed ahead and asked, "Er, Er Ya, look at that person, isn't that the doctor?"

"Doctor?" Shu Yu turned her head and looked in the direction he was looking.

The next moment, his expression suddenly changed, and he quickly turned his head away.

She thought that she rarely left the Shu family home and didn't know many people, let alone people from the remote Jiangyuan County.

Who knew that she would run into someone who happened to know her identity.

This is the itinerant doctor who gave her and Lu Erbai emergency treatment at Dongqing Temple!
