Chapter 798 The Yao Family Leaves
After Qi Chan finished speaking, he left. The next day, he met the messenger who had returned from the post station.
On the third day, Yao Tianqin's family prepared to set off back to Beijing.
Shu Yu took a day off to see them off with her family.
There were many people at the city gate, not only the Lu family, but also families who had been in frequent contact with the Yao family in recent years, and even people who had been at odds with the Yao family in the past. They all came out to see them off with smiles on their faces and stuffed a lot of things into the car.
Shu Yu also met the rumored official from the Ministry of Personnel who was said to be surnamed Wan. He looked to be around forty years old, very thin, and his face was pale, probably because he had lost too much blood from his previous injury.
He and Qi Chan must have been acquainted. The two talked for a while at the city gate before coming over and leading the Yao family on their way.
Yao Tianqin said goodbye to everyone else and finally came to the Lu family.
He had already said what he needed to say, so he simply patted Lu Erbai on the shoulder and said with a smile, "Then we'll be going. Let's keep in touch. Take care of yourselves."
"Bon Voyage."
The Lu family waved, and the convoy slowly drove forward.
The Yao family also had quite a bit of luggage. After all, they had lived here for five years. They took what they could, and most of what they couldn't take was sent to Lu Erbai's house.
Lu Erbai knew his own situation; they wouldn't actually stay here for very long, and giving them these things would be a waste.
But Yao Tianqin was on good terms with him and thought he was just being polite, so she insisted on giving it to him. She even said that if he left in the future, he could give it to whomever he wanted, and she wouldn't care.
Therefore, all of the Yao family's large pieces of furniture are currently piled up in the Lu family's woodshed.
Yao Tianqin's departure didn't affect Shu Yu much, but Lu Erbai was clearly a little sad.
Fortunately, Yao Tianqin left behind a lot of sketches, which Lu Erbai has been studying eagerly these past few days and has already absorbed a great deal. He plans to try to recreate them in a couple of days; he'll be quite busy from now on.
After seeing the Yao family off, Shu Yu said goodbye to Qi Chan and then returned to the courtyard with her family.
She had just entered the room and taken a sip of water when Meng Yunzheng came over, carrying a stack of books in his arms.
He didn't see Yao Tianqin off, since they weren't close anyway, and besides, the official from the Ministry of Personnel and Qi Chan were present.
In retrospect, he took advantage of that time to buy quite a few books at the bookstore.
Shu Yu pulled out the top book, "Guangyun," and asked, "Why did you suddenly buy so many?"
"These two books are for Da Hu. I taught and tested him during the Chinese New Year. He learned very quickly and has good comprehension. He is already very familiar with primers like the Thousand Character Classic and the Hundred Family Surnames, and he knows some common characters. So naturally he should look at other books."
Shu Yu opened the book "Guangyun" and saw things like "one bundle, two winters, three bells," which made her dizzy for a moment.
Looking at the next book, "Erya," she silently put it back.
It's not easy to find books for six- or seven-year-old children.
After feeling sorry for Da Hu for a second, Shu Yu looked at the remaining stack of books on the table. "What about these? They can't be for Da Hu too, can they?"
"Of course not. Da Hu is currently studying at home on his own. There's no rush for books like the Four Books and Five Classics; he can learn them when he goes back to school." Of course, if he has mastered those books, Meng Yunzheng could teach him in advance.
"These books are for my own reading."
Shu Yu was taken aback, and gestured with her hand to show that there were quite a few books in the stack.
