Chapter 1723 Father, I'll Carry You Home
Meng Yunzheng understood, "Nowadays, no one dares to go out on the streets. The bandits are their own people. They can patrol around during the day to show the people, but there's no need for them at night. Naturally, there are no people on the streets."
However, this actually made things easier for them.
But it was almost dawn, so they had to hurry.
Thinking of this, Meng Yunzheng looked behind him and said to Master Yang and the others who were coming out one after another, "Quickly, let's leave here as soon as possible."
Meng Qi looked at these people in surprise, and soon saw He Er carrying his cousin out.
He asked in astonishment, "They...they are...those rich young men who were captured by bandits?"
Meng Qi knew He Er; they both studied at the same academy. Although one often skipped school and the other studied diligently, they didn't get along. However, Meng Qi had heard that He Er had been arrested.
When Meng Qi saw them appear before him, he was immediately stunned.
"Brother, you rescued them all?!" That's amazing!
Wasn't it just his brother and future sister-in-law who went to the black market? With just the two of them, they not only ventured deep into the lion's den but also rescued the young men from various families who had been captured for so many days.
Meng Yunzheng nodded, "Yes, they've all been rescued."
"What about my dad? Is he alright?" Meng Qi became nervous, peeking around behind him.
Thinking of his uncle's injuries, Meng Yunzheng didn't say much, but simply turned away.
Uncle Meng was carried out by Meng Pei. He woke up briefly during the journey, but has now fallen asleep again.
Upon seeing Uncle Meng covered in blood, Meng Qi froze, unable to move his legs.
He looked at Meng Yunzheng, his heart pounding. "Brother, my... my father... why isn't he moving? Is he... is he already...?"
"Don't worry, he's not in any danger, but his injuries are quite severe and he needs to rest."
Meng Qi's eyes instantly reddened. He took a few steps forward hastily, cautiously looking at his uncle. He placed his fingers on his neck and found that the pulse was still beating. He almost burst into tears of joy.
He wiped his face, looked at Meng Pei, and said in a slightly choked voice, "Uncle."
"Alright, it's alright now. We're all safe and sound, and we'll be reunited soon. You're a man, and your father is injured, so you'll have to take care of him."
"Okay." Meng Qi took a breath and said to him, "I'll carry it."
Meng Pei didn't try to take it from him, but carefully placed Meng Xiaoshu on his back.
Perhaps the slight movement alerted Uncle Meng, for he opened his eyes slightly, saw the familiar face, and tugged at the corner of his mouth, "It's Aqi?"
“Dad, it’s me. I’ll carry you home.” Meng Qi quickly forced a smile. “Let’s go home.”
"Okay, thank you for your hard work."
"It's not hard work, it's not hard work." Meng Qi shook his head, and seeing that his uncle had closed his eyes again, he shut his mouth and didn't say anything.
He carried the man back to Meng Yunzheng's side, only to discover that Master Yang and the others were actually moving weapons.
Meng Qi composed himself and asked with some surprise, "Brother, where did all this come from? What are we going to do next?"
I'll tell you later.
Meng Qi didn't bother him.
The weapons were moved quickly, and Meng Yunzheng lowered his voice and said to everyone, "Aqi just told me that there are no soldiers patrolling the streets now, which is a good time for us to leave. Is everyone ready? Is there any problem proceeding with our previous plan?"
