Chapter 589 Going Home with Milk
The old lady finally let go of Shuyu, but still held her hand tightly and said, "Have you suffered a lot these days? Look at your hands, they're all calloused."
The old lady wasn't putting on an act. When A-Yu returned home, although she could do everything, her hands were well-protected and kept clean. When she did makeup for those young ladies from wealthy families, there was no prickling sensation at all.
Now, after just over a month apart, my hands are cracked.
The old lady felt very sorry for you, saying, "Don't be afraid, we'll be here for you from now on."
Shu Yu smiled. She actually missed them too. Although she knew they were always following behind her and not far away, she still hadn't seen them or spoken to them.
Now that they're reunited, Shu Yu feels completely relaxed.
Sanya squatted down next to Shuyu, reached into her sleeve, pulled out two candies, and handed them to Shuyu, saying, "Second sister, have some candy."
She used to give her candy to her second sister, but now she has to give it to her second sister every day.
Shu Yu took it and patted her little head. "Thank you."
Sanya smiled with satisfaction.
Shu Yu had a piece of candy in her mouth, and it tasted even sweeter.
The family sat together and chatted for a while. Seeing that it was getting late, the Zhang family still had to have dinner.
Shu Yu and the others couldn't very well continue to bother them, let alone stay for a meal.
So she subtly tugged at the old lady's sleeve, and the old lady, who was already quite attuned to her, immediately stood up and said, "Look at me, I'm so happy I've forgotten the time. I heard you just finished work, haven't you eaten yet? Come on, come on, come home with me, dinner's already prepared. We can talk about whatever we want after we eat, since we live here too, not far apart."
Shu Yu nodded. "Okay."
The old lady then said to the Zhang family, "We really owe you all a lot today. Without you, I wouldn't have been able to find Er Yatou. I won't say much more about my gratitude. We'll come to thank you in person after we've settled A Yu in."
Aunt Zhang waved her hands repeatedly, "Auntie, you're too kind. Even without us, you would have been reunited with Miss Shuyu sooner or later if you had stayed in Zhengdao Village. Don't mention thanks; we should thank you for the scar removal cream."
Shu Yu looked at the old lady in surprise, "Grandma, you gave Miss Zhang scar removal cream?"
"Yes, we gave it to you. I heard you had planned to do the same before, and it just so happens that we had some. Don't you think this is fate?"
The old lady was very happy. She said a few more words to the Zhang family before taking her leave.
Once they were outside, the old lady whispered to Shu Yu, "Our rented house is over there, you see, right there. We've saved you a room, so you can sleep here tonight. It gets really cold here at night, you won't be able to stay warm without a blanket."
Shu Yu nodded. The quilts in the place of exile were not only thin, but also filled with willow catkins and poplar catkins, and even dried straw, so their warmth retention was obviously poor.
Sleeping in a warm and comfortable bed is naturally a pleasure.
“Okay, I’ll go home with Grandma.” She held the old lady’s hand, in a very good mood, but when they reached the Shu family’s door, she stopped. “Grandma, you should go back first. I need to tell Hou Shi and the others so they won’t wait for me.”
"Why don't we invite them, mother and daughter, to come and eat together?" the old lady said.
