Chapter 1181 Yingxi's Affairs
Yingxi paused, her hand gripping the reins, and asked in surprise, "To the prison? Miss, what are you going there for?"
Shu Yu lifted the carriage curtain, tilted her head, and smiled, saying, "I promised you I would find out where your mother and stepfather are. Now that we still have time, we might as well go and inquire about them."
Yingxi's hand tightened instantly. She turned around, her expression moved, "Miss..."
"Alright, let's go, we need to get back to the county town tonight."
If I had met the person Sanlaizi mentioned today, there might have been other troubles later, and I wouldn't have had time to inquire about the Ying family. But since that person didn't show up, I decided to finish my business before going back.
The Ying couple died in prison, and the prison guards would certainly know who disposed of the bodies; they would most likely know if you asked them.
Several years have passed, and prisoners often die in prison. I wonder if they still remember the Ying couple.
As she guessed, Yingxi drove the carriage quickly to the location of the prison.
There were guards at the main gate. When they saw Shu Yu and his group's carriage parked outside, one of them immediately came forward and said, "This is a restricted area of the prison. No unauthorized personnel are allowed to approach."
Ying Xi hurriedly took out about ten copper coins from his pocket and said to the guard, "Brother, I'd like to ask you for help. I'd like to find Brother Tan Ping."
The guard glanced at the copper coin in his hand, his expression softening. "Alright, you wait here."
After the guard went inside, Ying Xi turned to Shu Yu and said, "Tan Ping is the jailer in this cell. He's a decent guy. When my brother and I were in jail before, he said my brother was very loyal and that he was practically a friend of mine. He took good care of us siblings."
Shu Yu nodded, saying that it would be good to have someone she knew.
The group waited at the door for a while, and soon a short man of about twenty-five or twenty-six years old came out.
He looked around and then walked toward the carriage.
"You're the ones looking for me? Who are you, and what do you want?"
Ying Xi stepped forward. "Brother Tan, it's me. Do you remember me?"
Tan Ping was taken aback. He squinted at Ying Xi for a moment, then suddenly clapped his hands together. "You, you're that girl? Ying Dong's sister, right?"
"It's me."
Tan Ping was delighted, not expecting to see her again. "What are you doing here? Where's your brother?"
Ying Xi turned to look at Shu Yu and smiled at him, "I am accompanying my young lady through Huajiang Prefecture this time. My brother is not here."
Tan Ping then remembered that both she and her brother had been sold, and she figured the two people in the carriage must be her masters.
He felt a pang of sadness; the once-proud young masters and ladies of the security escort agency had now fallen so low that they could only serve as servants.
It's been three or four years, hasn't it? He almost didn't recognize him.
"Are you... are you still with your brother?"
Yingxi nodded repeatedly, "Yes, my brother and I have never been separated. Now that we've met Miss, she's been very kind to us. I came here this time to ask Brother Tan about the funeral arrangements for my parents."
So that's how it is.
Tan Ping couldn't help but glance at the two people in the carriage. The master was actually accompanying his servants to the prison gate to inquire about the two prisoners' affairs.
It seems Yingxi was right; the family really treats her very well.
"Brother Tan, are you aware of this matter?"
Hearing Ying Xi's words, Tan Ping came back to his senses and nodded. "I've known your brother for a while, so I've paid special attention to the Ying family's affairs."
