Chapter 868 Waiting at the County Government Office
Da Niu was startled awake when he heard Bao Ya's voice coming from inside the house.
He hurriedly said to Zhou Qiao, "You stay here and help look after Bao Ya. I'm going to find Fourth Aunt and tell her the good news."
My fourth aunt's house is not far from my third uncle's house; it's just a short walk away.
Da Niu also left, and Zhou Qiao then entered the room. Seeing Bao Ya sitting on the bed rubbing her eyes and looking drowsy, she couldn't help but smile and come forward.
She dressed Bao Ya, then led her to the kitchen to wash her face. After getting her ready, she wanted to take her out for breakfast.
When I got to the kitchen, I was surprised to find it empty – no pots, no stoves, nothing at all.
Even if Zhou Qiao wanted to get her something to eat, there was nothing she could do; the rice, flour, and other grains were all locked in the cupboard.
Fortunately, Liang returned with Da Bao at that moment.
Da Bao was very excited. First, his sister A Yu, who could cook delicious food, was back. Second, he didn't have to go to the private school today, which was great.
Although he didn't quite understand what the village head meant, he heard from his mother that Sister Ayu now had a very high status, enough for him to do whatever he wanted.
Liang bought a few steamed buns on the way. She gave one to Bao Ya first, kept one in her mouth, and put the rest on the table. She then pushed Da Bao to comb his hair and wash his face.
Then, feigning concern, he asked Zhou Qiao if she wanted some, but Zhou Qiao had already eaten and naturally shook her head.
While eating, Liang asked questions. Zhou Qiao had only met the old lady and the others the night before, so she didn't know much. She told them everything she could.
Even so, Mrs. Liang was extremely satisfied.
A short while later, Da Niu returned, accompanied by Lu Sixing and their two children.
Da Niu said, "My fourth aunt is coming back with us, and my fourth uncle also asked for leave."
Yuan Shanchuan's workplace wasn't far from here, so he didn't need to go to the county government office to ask for leave; he could just find his superior and tell him.
Lu Sixing had already eaten breakfast. She was very curious about her second brother's family's experiences. Da Niu hadn't explained it in much detail earlier, so she couldn't help but ask more questions now.
While they were talking, Lu Sanzhu and Yuan Shanchuan returned.
They happened to run into each other on their way back, which was quite a coincidence.
Once everyone was there, they couldn't wait to set off.
There were quite a few people from both families, but luckily Quan Quan and Bao Ya were both small and could be held in our arms. Xiao Zhen and Da Bao were also children, and they could squeeze into the carriage, but we couldn't travel very fast.
Da Niu was driving the cart, while Yuan Shanchuan sat on the other side of the cart shaft.
Che Lilu Sanzhu excitedly whispered to Liang Shi, "I told you long ago, following A Yu will bring you good fortune. Although she was once a fallen tiger bullied by dogs, she quickly rose from the ashes. Look, look, now she's not only back, but she's also become a village head."
They spoke quietly, but everyone in the mule cart could hear them.
Zhou Qiao and Lu Sixing exchanged a glance and smiled helplessly.
Lu Sanzhu, however, was quite pleased with himself, saying, "My judgment has always been good."
Madam Liang nodded, "That's right, otherwise how could he have married me?"
The people inside and outside the car were speechless. "...Both of them are pretty shameless."
As if struck by a sudden thought, Lu Sanzhu lifted the carriage curtain and asked Da Niu, "Where are we going?"
“Ayu told us to wait for her at the city gate, as she had some business to attend to at the county government office.”
Lu Sanzhu waved his hand, "Why go to the city gate? Let's wait at the county government office. I haven't seen my mother for more than half a year. I have to see her as soon as possible and see how she is doing."
