"Dad, she changed her name. She's called Jiu Maomao now, not Jiu Xintian." Ye Mingshi turned the steering wheel with one hand.
"Drive carefully," Dr. Ye said.
"I'm driving just fine, aren't I? Don't worry, your son obeys the law and won't forget that this is in the city, not on a racetrack," Ye Mingshi said with a grin.
"You haven't answered my question yet," Dr. Ye reminded him.
Ye Mingshi immediately said, "Dad, you have to ask your dad about this. Wasn't Grandpa urging me to go play with Jiu Maomao? Can you ask Grandpa for me what kind of immortal peach he ate that made him want to betray his grandson? Am I, the only son of the Ye family, not even worth a peach?"
There was a hint of sadness in his tone.
Knowing his own son's true character, Doctor Ye was clearly unmoved by his acting and simply asked, "Is that all?"
Ye Mingshi said sadly, "What else could it be? If you really think I went there to chase after celebrities... well, that's fine too."
Ye Mingshi drove her father home, but didn't get out of the car herself.
"Aren't you going back?" Doctor Ye loosened his meticulously tailored Zhongshan suit, which he wore during his house calls.
Ye Mingshi said, "Come on, I'm afraid the old man will keep asking me for Tao'er."
Dr. Ye looked at him intently and said, "You know you're the only son of the Ye family, so don't get involved in dangerous things."
Ye Mingshi looked like she'd heard a hilarious joke. "Dad, this is a peaceful and prosperous time. What dangerous things could there be? Are you getting senile?"
Dr. Ye replied, "Your father was your age, kid."
"Okay," Ye Mingshi replied.
With a tap of the accelerator, the law-abiding citizen suddenly sped up to 220 km/h, drifting around the corner...
-------------------------------------
Ye Mingshi's visit had no impact on the cat.
She is a cat, and she would never pretend to be Jiu Xintian just to cater to other people's opinions, so she is not afraid of anyone testing her.
However, Ye Mingshi was quite likable. Although he came to test her, he did so on the basis of acknowledging that she was Jiu Maomao, not Jiu Xintian.
Upon entering the study and opening the door, the cat was surprised to find it locked again! Jiu Yunchi had returned!
She had the maid bring her toolbox and pried open the lock to get in.
The study was tidied up meticulously, and the note she left behind was gone. Clearly, Jiu Yunchi not only came back, but also knew that she had broken in.
But you didn't make a fuss about it? Were you just too lazy to argue with her?
But he still locked the door...
The cat picked up a book and started reading by itself.
Time flew by and it was evening. Jiu Yebai had returned, and they were all about to go to sleep, but Jiu Yunchi hadn't come back yet.
Is this person a vampire? The kind that only appears after midnight.
When she left, the cat picked up a note and left him another note, and moved the pen, ink, paper and inkstone on her right to her left.
-------------------------------------
The next day, the cat went straight to the study after getting up.
Sure enough, it's locked again.
She picked the lock and went inside, only to find that the note she had left was gone again, and the writing brush, ink, paper, and inkstone that were on the left had been moved to the right.
“Silly brother, have you seen Jiu Yunchi since he came back?” Cat looked at Jiu Yebai across from her.
Jiu Yebai took a sip of juice. "No."
The cat stopped asking; she didn't know how normal human families interacted either.
"Are you bored staying at home? Otherwise, I'll keep you company today," Jiu Yebai suddenly said.
The cat paused for a moment, then asked, "You'll come with me? Why?"
Jiu Yebai said, "I was afraid you'd be bored."
Cat stared at Jiu Yebai for several seconds, then suddenly stretched out her hand, stroked Jiu Yebai's fluffy soft fur, and smiled, her watery eyes crinkling, "Silly little brother."
Jiu Yebai remained motionless as she touched him.
It's still that damn feeling of petting a dog.
But the person being touched no longer gets angry?
Jiu Yebai glanced at the cat, then quickly looked away, trying to appear a little cool.
How come he never noticed before that Jiu Maomao was so cute? And so easily satisfied, just like a little child, whose mood could suddenly soar to the heavens over the smallest thing.
Thinking back on the past five years, he has completely neglected her. She must have had a very hard time before...
He was even somewhat grateful for the accident that happened when she confessed her feelings to Mu Jin; she had a brush with death, which led to her sudden enlightenment.
"I... will never do it again," Jiu Yebai suddenly said.
The cat asked curiously, "What are you talking about?"
Jiu Yebai explained awkwardly, "After you were hospitalized following the accident, I didn't check on you immediately. I told you, 'It won't happen again.'"
The cat lowered its eyes slightly, chuckled, and said something profound, "Silly little brother, there is no future. Some things will never be perfect. Fortunately, there is no absolute right or wrong in this world."
If he felt guilty towards Jiu Xintian, it was too late; Jiu Xintian's life in this world had already ended.
She used to be indifferent to the cycle of human reincarnation, but now she knows that there is cause and effect everywhere in the six realms of reincarnation. The old man is an immortal, how could he let her take away someone else's destiny?
That Jiu Xintian is probably someone who deserves to die.
"Want to go out?" Jiu Yebai changed the subject, hoping to keep Maomao in a good mood. "What do girls like to do? Watch movies? Go shopping at malls? I have two tickets to an art exhibition here, do you want to go?"
