The cat looked at them too, and what she saw were pairs of fearful eyes and trembling bodies.
There were men and women, but they were all dressed similarly, only using white strips of cloth to cover their private parts.
The cabin was cold and damp at night, so they huddled together for warmth.
The cat's gaze fell on the boy at the front, who seemed a little calmer than the others. "Where did you come from?"
A glimmer of hope flashed in the boy's eyes. He suddenly rushed to the cat's feet, knelt down, and kept kowtowing to her.
The cat took a step back. "Stop kowtowing. I don't have time to watch you kowtow. Just say it."
The boy straightened up to look at her, but kept pointing at his throat, his mouth open, but no sound came out.
Ying Er whispered, "Sect Leader Jiu, he must be mute, right?"
The cat crouched down, looked at the boy, and then at the others. None of them had their hands or feet tied or their mouths gagged, but none of them spoke. They were all frightened and didn't scream.
Can't everyone be mute?
The cat asked the boy, "Did you eat something that makes you unable to speak?"
The boy nodded repeatedly, looking at the cat pleadingly, as if he were about to kowtow again.
The cat grabbed his hair impatiently, "I already told you to stop hitting yourselves, I'll save you."
Hearing her say that, the boy was so excited that everyone else gathered around and knelt down.
Ying Er was astonished by the sight. There were at least twenty or thirty people, and the oldest looked to be no more than eighteen years old. More than half of them appeared to be minors...
"This...this is child trafficking?"
Ying Er couldn't understand why those capitalists, who were already so rich, would still do such unethical business.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.
The people who had just gathered around the cat seemed to be startled and retreated back to the corner.
Ying Er recognized the coded message from the knock and immediately opened the door. "It's the boss and the others."
Eagle Da and his two companions burst in instantly. "Eagle Two, what are you doing! It took you so long to open... Sect Master Jiu?!"
Clearly, he had spotted the cat.
Ying Er quickly explained, "Boss, this door has a double lock. I opened one lock but it was too late. It was Master Jiu who opened the second lock."
Cat glanced at Eagle, "Didn't I tell you to mind your own business?"
Ying Da slowly knelt down, "I was wrong..."
He now realized that he might have really been meddling. It wasn't that the cat wasn't interested in the secrets in the cabin; rather, she already knew. She had planned to come alone, but she ran into them.
Holy crap, so they almost dragged her down?!
So, all four of them, including Ying Da, obediently squatted at the door, not daring to disturb the cat.
But the cat took out two or three kinds of antidote pills and handed them to the boy in front of him, saying, "Here, eat them."
She wasn't sure if they were just temporarily unable to speak or had been poisoned into being mute, but she thought she could try the antidote.
After all, if she wasn't mistaken, when Shen Yue told Wei Jin during the day, "Those children are all more precious than you," she was likely referring to these children. Since they were precious, they shouldn't have been poisoned into becoming mute.
Without the slightest hesitation, the boy swallowed all three pills. He had already taken countless kinds of medicine, so these three wouldn't make a difference.
However, unlike the various painful reactions he experienced after taking medicine in the past, the three pills made him feel incredibly comfortable as they entered his body, even dispelling some of the intense coldness.
His throat felt warm, and he tentatively asked, "Did you really come to save us? I... I can speak now?!"
Even more shocked than him were the children behind him.
"Looks like he's not mute," the cat said. "Then tell me what happened first."
The boy pleaded cautiously, "Could you... give them the antidote too?"
"Not now," the cat said.
The boy was very sad.
Eagle stepped in to explain for Cat: "Do you know where we are? Out at sea! We're all on a pirate ship. Rescuing people takes time, right? Now that you can talk, it'll be much more complicated, understand?"
Upon hearing this, the boy looked at Yingda gratefully, then said to Maomao, "Let me tell you! I am Chinese and was once a student sponsored by the Muyue Charity Organization. However, after going abroad, I discovered that the sponsorship was a complete scam!"
This is a huge lie! What they did was incredibly dirty, and Mutsuki is not the only one; we are all from different charities in various countries.
They gathered us together, sometimes numbering in the hundreds! Every day we had to take all sorts of medicine, and then we were picked out like commodities. We were the highest-grade commodities, while the rest of us, I don't know where they took us..."
The boy was tense all over, his fists clenched tightly, and his eyes filled with boundless hatred.
Everyone else reacted in the same way.
Eagle couldn't help but exclaim, "Holy crap! A charity! Mutsuki actually did this kind of thing! They're worse than animals!"
Eagle Two: "They're all perverts."
Ying San: "Sect Leader Jiu, how did you know there were these people being held captive on the ship?"
Eagle Four: "How do we rescue them? Is there anything we can do?"
"Don't interrupt," the cat said, then asked the boy, "Do you know where you're headed?"
The boy shook his head. "I don't know."
"Not a single clue?"
The boy continued to shake his head, but then he suddenly paused, glanced at the cat, and quickly lowered his eyes. "There's something, I don't know if it counts as a clue... I'm the oldest among us, I'm still two months shy of turning eighteen."
