Chapter 85 Professor Gu

Jiu Yebai also raised his head somewhat blankly.

The cat seemed to sense something was off and asked curiously, "What's wrong? Is it not okay?"

Jiu Yunchi's eyes flickered slightly. His machine-like face seemed to have gained a human warmth at this moment, and even his voice sounded more pleasant. He asked, "When?"

The cat thought for a moment, "Three days later!"

"Mm." Jiu Yunchi nodded, then left.

He clearly agreed!

Although the result was expected, Cat Cat still felt that something was unexpected.

Somewhat puzzled, the cat didn't let itself continue to worry and instead looked down at the newspaper.

Suddenly, Jiu Yebai ran over and said with a complicated expression, "Jiu Maomao, I finally feel like I have a home."

The cat pushed his big head away. "Did the Jiu family abuse you before?"

Jiu Yebai sat down on the ground and said, "No, you're the one who abused me..."

He seemed to be contemplating the meaning of life, thinking about how he used to live a life of reckless abandon, calling on friends and drinking lavishly, and how he had been so... decadent!

The cat beats him all day long, and his older brother will occasionally "show concern" for him. He goes to bed early and gets up early, does a lot of homework every day, and strives to improve himself to the point of having no friends. But how come he is so... happy!

Finally, Jiu Yebai sighed, "I know, I just like being tortured."

"Crazy." Cat muttered, taking the newspaper and moving away from her silly younger brother.

Around 10 a.m., Maomao received an email from Professor Gu, which included his working hours and address.

The cat searched for the location on the map and found that it was quite close to Old Man Ye's house, so it shouldn't be far from Granny Mu's house either.

Afterwards, Maomao spent the day in the study, specifically looking at some materials related to her thesis, and then visited Professor Gu after breakfast the next day.

It's worth mentioning that Jiu Yunchi is home again today!

He's been coming home so frequently these past few days! It seems he's really grasped the point; he must have truly realized that even if he works less, his company won't go bankrupt.

Jiu Yebai was still trained all morning, and then went to school feeling refreshed.

Cat was quite familiar with this route and drove smoothly to Professor Gu's house.

Professor Gu's house... is very similar to Granny Mu's house, perhaps built in the same era. However, their house is much quieter, and there are many upright-looking guards in the yard...

The cat looked around curiously; this Professor Gu seemed to be more than just a university professor.

The housekeeper brought the cat to Professor Gu's study.

As soon as the cat walked in, it saw an old man with gray hair, wearing two round glasses, looking at a map with a magnifying glass. He was about the same age as Old Man Ye, but he was in good spirits!

“Professor Gu, I am Jiu Maomao.” Maomao said that this old man gave people a different feeling... Although he was dressed in a Zhongshan suit and looked like a scholar, he had an undeniable sense of righteousness in his bones.

Professor Gu turned around, looked at Jiu Maomao, and said, "Hehe, I've been waiting for you. Have a seat."

The cat didn't sit down; she was holding her thesis outline in her hand.

Professor Gu seemed engrossed in the map he was studying. He examined it with a magnifying glass for a while before putting it down, turning around, and seeing that Maomao was still standing there. He said, "Why don't you sit down? Don't be so formal. I should be at the school, but I haven't been feeling well lately, and my family won't let me go out. So I had to trouble a student to come and find me."

He was all smiles, with a kind and approachable demeanor, showing no airs whatsoever.

The cat simply nodded.

Professor Gu said, "Alright, let's talk about your thesis. This topic involves a lot of oceanography. How do you plan to write it?"

Cat told him her thoughts one by one, and she didn't hesitate when she talked about them.

As Professor Gu listened, he also became somewhat interested. He took off his glasses and asked the cat after she stopped, "You are a history student, yet you have such a deep understanding of oceanography. Is this just a hobby?"

The cat thought for a moment and said, "It's just a coincidence."

Professor Gu chuckled and said, "What coincidence? It seems you are well-read, which is quite remarkable for someone so young."

Then he added, "I'll give you a few suggestions. You should focus on collecting some information on this topic and see if you can come up with any new interpretations."

Cat nodded. She stood to the side and watched as Professor Gu, pen in hand, wrote a long outline for her with bold strokes and a clear, vigorous hand.

When it was time to leave, the cat said goodbye to him, and his wife seemed to have come to call him for something, so the group left the study together.

Inside the pavilion is a small greenhouse with an arched corridor, filled with rather rare flowers and plants. Each of these plants has its own unique habits, and tending to them requires a lot of care.

The fact that the flowers and plants in this corridor are growing so well shows that there is someone in this family who is good at tending to plants.

When the three of them came out, they saw a man standing in the corridor. He had his hands behind his back as if he were on patrol. He was dressed in a long robe and had an elegant and refined appearance.

He said, "Brother Gu, your flowers are blooming quite well. You spend all day tending to your flowers and never come out for a walk. Won't your old bones get bored?"

Professor Gu seemed to be in a good mood, and said with a smile, "My old injury flared up a few days ago, and going out would be too much of a hassle, so I decided not to go out."

The old man in the long gown said again, "Don't be so nervous. I've already told you you're fine. Those Western doctors still have to point fingers. Do they think I'm useless?"

Professor Gu said, "They can't be blamed."

The two seem to have a very good relationship.

But the cat stopped in its tracks.

The old man in the long robe finally stopped looking at the flowers and plants. He turned around and was talking to Professor Gu when he suddenly saw the cat. His eyes lit up immediately. "Hey, you little rascal, what are you doing here?"

This old man in the long robe was actually Old Man Ye!

After a brief moment of surprise, the cat immediately understood! She knew it; their houses weren't far apart, and the mountain was full of these detached mansions, so they were practically neighbors. How could they not know each other?

Now it seems they're not just acquaintances, they're old friends! Maybe even with Granny Mu.

“Old Ye, I’m here to see Professor Gu. He’s my thesis advisor,” Maomao said.

Professor Gu was also surprised and asked, "Old Ye, do you know my student?"

Old Man Ye laughed heartily, clearly in a good mood to see the cat. "Let's get to know each other! The cat is my little friend!"

Professor Gu asked, "Young friend?"

Old Man Ye, however, took the initiative and said, "Don't just stand here talking, Brother Gu. Bring out your good tea, let's chat while we drink tea. Cat, don't be in such a hurry to leave. Professor Gu has quite a few treasures in his collection, but he doesn't know how to enjoy them."
