Chapter 67, Eighteenth Cycle (11)
"Hand over your phone," the expressionless man in black said.
Morofushi Kagemitsu put his cell phone in the basket, and was also searched and all his weapons and communication devices were taken away.
He eventually arrived at a completely empty, enclosed room after walking through a silent, dark corridor he had never traversed before.
Besides him, there were five other people, none of whom were unfamiliar faces; they were among the more outstanding newcomers in the organization.
His partner, Dai Moroboshi, and his childhood friend, Zero, were also there, of course.
Here, however, Midorikawa Hikaru and Amuro Tooru are just strangers who have met once before.
"Why were we summoned here?" Morofushi Kagemitsu stepped forward and asked with a smile, getting close to the guide.
His quirky and curious persona allows him to naturally seek out information.
He was also familiar with the guide, a tall, blond, blue-eyed foreign man who was one of the instructors in their new recruit training camp. He was said to be a retired special forces soldier from abroad and had been a veteran of the organization for three years.
He didn't have a code name; everyone just called him Carlo.
"Don't ask too many questions, and don't say anything out of line later." The tall, bearded instructor glanced at him. "I've said it before, your curious nature will get you into big trouble sooner or later."
Morofushi Kagemitsu pointed at Moroboshi Yasuhiro and Amuro Tooru, who had started arguing and then directly came to blows: "What about them?"
If it were just a gathering of new recruits from their training camp, that wouldn't be a problem. However, of the six people present, only one was an instructor and two were new recruits from this training camp. The other three were new recruits from other parts of the organization.
Everyone here is capable and proud, and their personalities are unlikely to be good. It's not surprising that the atmosphere was tense when their phones were suddenly taken away and they were locked in a place that looked like a basement.
However, the only ones who actually fought were Amuro Tooru and Moroboshi Dai.
Carlo: "..."
Carlo said in a subtle tone, "Those kinds of people are exceptions. The organization hasn't produced many like them in all these years. They are trouble in themselves. In my opinion, those two will definitely become high-ranking codename members of the organization very soon, and their reputations will be quite high. You'd better stay away from them as much as possible."
Morofushi Kagemitsu thought, Zero told him to stay away from Shuichi Akai, that plague god; Shuichi Akai told him to stay away from Tooru Amuro, that dangerous man; and the instructor told him to stay away from both of them.
It's a little funny.
He actually laughed out loud: "Sorry, but instructor, the more people tell me not to get close, the more curious I become and the more I want to go closer and take a look."
Carlo: "..."
Carlo rolled his eyes: "Whatever. You've already graduated, so I don't care where you die after that."
The tightly closed door was opened, and a tall man in a black trench coat walked in. His long silver hair under his black hat was very conspicuous in the not-so-bright room.
It's Gin.
This outfit was so distinctive that everyone's expression instantly turned serious.
Apart from Amuro Tooru and Moroboshi Dai, they are still fighting.
Gin's already terrifying gaze turned even colder as he pulled out his gun and stabbed it into the head of the blond youth who was clearly the one who had been attacking and provoking the fight.
Amuro Tooru is extremely vengeful, and his competitive spirit is ridiculously strong, a fact that Gin, who is also being targeted, understands very well.
"Enough! How long are you going to keep up this childish vengefulness?" The silver-haired man revealed a sinister smile. "If you can't control your emotions and they affect the organization's business, I'll send you to hell right now."
Moroboshi Dai revealed a gloating, mocking smile.
Zhu Fujingguang's heart tightened.
"Alright, that's enough. You always threaten me with a gun and make threats whenever you're unhappy. Don't you get tired of it?" However, Amuro Tooru completely ignored the dark gun barrel on his head, and even turned around with a smile to look at Gin, raising an eyebrow and saying, "Besides, what's the big deal? Didn't you come here to give me a codename?"
Gin lowered his hand holding the gun and scoffed, "Who told you this was a code-issuing event?"
Amuro Tooru's eyes narrowed slightly as he immediately realized something. His expression darkened, and his eyes showed obvious annoyance and speechlessness.
Gin was very satisfied with his intelligence and keen insight. The organization really needed a member with such a brain right now, but unfortunately his personality was too annoying.
Morofushi Kagemitsu also saw the blond youth's expression. Knowing his childhood friend so well, he immediately understood and alarm bells went off in his mind.
The silver-haired youth turned to face everyone, his long black trench coat rustling in the silent room like the Grim Reaper knocking on the door.
He sneered, "I'm here to catch rats."
*
The six stood in a row, neither too close nor too far apart, with Gin at the front, radiating a sharp killing intent as he surveyed everyone.
Morofushi Kagemitsu happened to be standing next to his blond childhood friend, which made him feel much more at ease.
Even as Gin slowly walked past him, the chill emanating from his fierce green eyes was enough to pierce to the bone, he only showed the tension and impatience of an innocent, normal newcomer to the organization being suspected of being an undercover agent. Appropriate worry and fear are also necessary.
Gin looked at him for a few seconds, then walked to the next person.
Next up was Dai Moroboshi. The two men, both with fierce eyes and a cold, dangerous aura, stared at each other for two seconds.
Amuro Tooru suddenly spoke up: "Oh right, right, Moroboshi Dai is the undercover agent, Gin, take him down!"
Morofushi Kagemitsu: "..."
Wait, Zero, aren't you being a bit too bold?!
Everyone else stared at him in disbelief and shock, unable to tell whether it was genuine or a personal grudge.
The tension between Moroboshi Dai and Gin momentarily froze, and the two almost simultaneously turned to glare fiercely at the grinning blond youth.
“If you believe him, I will be very disappointed in the organization,” Moroboshi Dai said to Gin, turning to him with a mocking tone.
"Shut up," Gin said, his face dark.
Amuro Tooru wanted to speak, but Gin stared at him and said, "You shut up too, unless you want to get shot."
If Amuro Tooru's abilities hadn't been valued by that gentleman, he would have already fired his gun, instead of issuing a clearly useless, merciful verbal warning.
Amuro Tooru pouted, finally behaving himself.
After this interruption, the air temperature rose slightly, though it was still a scorching heat, but at least it wasn't as suffocating as before.
Gin then walked up to the last person.
That person is Carlo.
Gin stood in front of him, pointing his gun at his forehead.
"Click." The safety latch was released.
Morofushi Kagemitsu's body went cold instantly with that sound.
The rat Gin is trying to catch is none other than Instructor Carlo?
“…Hey, Gin, this joke isn’t funny at all.” Carlo’s expression stiffened, seemingly completely unprepared to be suspected. “I’ve worked diligently in the organization for three years. Isn’t this a bit much to threaten me?”
"Intimidation? Do you think I would do something so cute?" Gin smirked.
His hand holding the gun suddenly moved downwards, and his finger pulled the trigger.
"Bang!"
Carlo groaned, clutched his stomach, and collapsed to the ground.
Morofushi Kagemitsu saw blood rapidly spreading from beneath him, and the sealed room gradually filled with a strong smell of blood.
Gin stomped hard on Carlo's hand as he tried to straighten up, crushing his finger bones as he sneered, "Three years. I never thought you, a rat, could survive in the organization for three years."
“…Gin, I’m not a rat. There must be some misunderstanding. At least give me a chance to explain,” Carlo said through gritted teeth, cold sweat beading on his forehead.
“Sure.” Gin moved his foot away. “I’m a person who values evidence.”
“Vodka,” he raised his voice.
The door opened again, and Vodka dragged two people in and threw them directly in front of Carlo.
Morofushi Kagemitsu saw Carlo's previously calm and resolute expression instantly collapse, with anger, fear, panic, and despair flashing in his blue eyes, and his lips even trembled.
Gin bent down, grabbed the boy's hair with one hand, lifted him up to reveal the boy's red, swollen, and tear-streaked face, and smiled at Carol: "Carson Davis, FBI investigator, your son has been looking for you, didn't you know? Look how kind I am, I'm even reuniting your family."
The brown-haired woman on the other side was no longer human and could not speak at all.
His wife and son were also arrested, and their real names and the organizations they belonged to were revealed. There was basically no room for maneuver left.
Moreover, the FBI...
Morobuchi Kagemitsu restrained himself from subconsciously observing the reaction of Moroboshi Dai beside him.
“Tell me, which other FBI moles are in the organization?” Gin pressed the gun against the head of the child, who looked no more than ten years old. “Otherwise, this brat’s head will explode right in front of you.”
"He's not my dad! I told you you've mistaken me for someone else! This isn't the person I'm looking for!" The boy with blue eyes couldn't hold back his tears, but he still gritted his teeth and shouted.
Carlo lowered his head, then clutched his bleeding abdomen and turned to look directly at Gin, sneering, "You say I'm an undercover agent, so you're saying I am? What kind of evidence is that? I don't even know them! Is it because of my appearance? But there are people in the world who look alike!"
"3." Gin completely ignored their performance and started counting down.
Morofushi Kagemitsu's heart pounded wildly.
"Ahhhh—" The brown-haired woman on the ground suddenly let out a desperate scream that was inhuman.
She writhed her broken limbs, trying to crawl over to save her child, but Vodka held her down, preventing her from moving.
“2,” Gin said.
Morofushi Kagemitsu saw Carlo's pupils tremble as he reached out his hand: "Stop! Gin—"
"1." Gin's finger slowly pulled the trigger.
"etc!"
Gin's cold, green eyes swept over and met the gaze of the person who had spoken.
The man calmly said, "There are indeed people in the world who look exactly alike. Gin, is there some misunderstanding? Are you 100% sure of his identity?"
"0." Gin stared at him, slowly uttering the last number without turning around, but his finger pulled the trigger.
"Bang--"
The bullet pierced the boy's head, and a large patch of scarlet blood splattered on the floor behind him.
The room fell silent instantly, except for the woman with her broken limbs, who froze for a few seconds before screaming like a madwoman.
Gin stood up, pointing his gun at the man who had just tried to stop him.
"wait--"
"Bang!" Gin fired again cleanly and decisively.
Hot, sticky blood splattered onto Morofushi Kagemitsu's face. He raised his hand, frowned, and wiped it away. Turning his head, he saw that Morohoshi Dai's face, which was standing next to him, was stained with even more blood.
But the green-eyed man with long black hair remained expressionless, as if everything happening before him was so boring that it didn't interest him at all. His terrifying gaze was no less than that of Gin.
The man next to him was already lying in a pool of blood.
"Take him away and interrogate him thoroughly," Gin said.
Two men in black came in and dragged away the man that Morofushi Kagemitsu didn't recognize.
"The police are most afraid of witnessing murder." Gin's tall, imposing figure slowly approached the remaining men, his eyes sweeping over their faces. "Whoever pleads for mercy, whoever interrupts, is the mole."
"What if it's just a matter of being soft-hearted or having ulterior motives?" Amuro Tooru asked again with a smug grin, seemingly unafraid of death.
"Better to kill the innocent than let the guilty go free." Gin said expressionlessly. "Besides, the organization doesn't need soft-hearted cowards or traitors who have affairs with undercover agents."
"Aaaaaaaahh ...
"It's so noisy." Gin frowned, turned around and pointed his gun at the brown-haired woman on the ground.
Morobuchi Kagemitsu saw the stiff Carlo suddenly burst forward and pounce.
"Bang!"
Morofushi Hiromitsu was certain that Carol, or rather the FBI undercover agent whose real name was Carson Davis, had deliberately allowed that bullet to enter his heart.
In this way, he would not be forced to reveal information about his companions by terrible torture, and his wife would no longer suffer.
The blond man's body lay on top of his wife, and he struggled to reach out and grasp the hand of the small, blood-stained child beside him.
"I'm sorry..." he choked out.
Then, those blue eyes quickly dimmed and completely lost their life.
Gin glanced coldly at Vodka, who was sweating profusely after failing to stop someone from "committing suicide," and then raised his hand and killed the last woman with a single bullet.
"We are truly a loving family. Let us reunite in the afterlife," he said.
As Morofushi Kagemitsu looked at the cruel smile on the silver-haired assassin's face, a surge of murderous intent and immense pressure slowly built up within him.
However, things don't seem to be over yet.
The man in black, with long silver hair and cold green eyes, took out a cigarette, lit it, bit it with his sharp teeth, took a drag, and then slowly exhaled.
White smoke swirled around him, blurring his expression.
However, Morofushi Kagemitsu saw Gin lift his foot and walk towards them.
His heart skipped a beat, and he immediately recalled whether he had given anything strange before.
But Gin passed by him and finally stopped in front of Amuro Tooru.
Morofushi Kagemitsu's heart seemed to stop beating for a moment.
This is a thousand times more terrifying than him exposing his own death.
The smells of blood, gunpowder, cigarettes, and death all assaulted my senses.
The air was so still you could hear a pin drop. The silver-haired man and the blond man stared at each other for a long time, the atmosphere dangerous, like a taut string about to snap.
"You'd better not show your true colors," Gin said first.
He sneered, moved away from the blond youth, and stood in front of the woman next to Amuro Tooru.
Only after the scent of Gin had faded did Morofushi Kagemitsu feel his cold hands and feet gradually warming up.
"Bang!"
Gin fired again, and the short-haired woman groaned as she stumbled backward against the wall, slowly sliding to the ground.
"Why?" she asked.
Gin took the half-burnt cigarette off with one hand, looked down at her and sneered: "It's normal to be nervous and scared when something like this happens, but to be so tense that you don't let yourself show any emotion or expression, and the difference between your previous reactions and this is so great, you definitely have something to hide."
Amuro Tooru whistled: "Yo, Detective Gin."
Gin, unable to bear it any longer, fired a shot at his feet.
Amuro Tooru fell silent.
Gin didn't want to turn around and see that guy's mocking face anymore.
"Vodka, take this woman to the interrogation room. If she doesn't die, throw her into the lab."
The silver-haired assassin put away his gun, lit his cigarette again, and glanced coldly at Moroboshi Yasushi and Midorikawa Hikaru.
"I hope you're not rats." He uttered this bloodthirsty and death-threatening sentence with the tone of wishing you were rats and then killing you, before turning and leaving the room filled with blood and corpses.
"Tch, such a bad temper, is he going through menopause?" Amuro Tooru said without keeping his voice down, and Gin, who hadn't gone far outside the door, could probably hear him.
Morofushi Kagemitsu stretched his stiff limbs and turned to his partner, Moroboshi Dai, asking, "Are we training again today?"
Moroboshi Dai didn't even glance at the corpse on the ground, turned and walked towards the exit, saying coldly, "No, I'm not in the mood."
Amuro Tooru ran over and squatted down to examine the body of the FBI undercover agent with curiosity, clearly hoping to extract some information from him, or simply to use it to add material to mock Gin.
Then they were quickly stopped by the men in black who rushed in.
Morofushi Kagemitsu was also driven out.
Before leaving, he glanced at the bodies of the FBI undercover family of three on the ground.
In that instant, Morofushi Kagemitsu vaguely perceived the three faces lying in pools of blood as himself, Zero, and his brother.
Then, he felt a deep fear.
Morofushi Kagemitsu realized once again that no matter what happened during his undercover work, he absolutely could not implicate his childhood friend and brother.
