Chapter 17 It's a Cow

The foreigner looked at the people around him in bewilderment, "What are you laughing at? What are you laughing at?" He didn't understand why they were laughing. The milk tasted so good. "We have been drinking this since we were young. It tastes so good."

As soon as he finished speaking, the people around him burst into laughter again. A nosy woman stood in the crowd, crossed her arms and shouted, "Hey, this cow is your mother. If you don't drink your mother's milk, drink the beast's."

After he finished speaking, the crowd burst into laughter again. Someone who was watching the fun said in the crowd, "Drinking milk is different. Will you grow yellow hair too? Hahahahaha."

Although he didn't quite understand what they were saying, he could tell from the looks of the people laughing that it was not a good thing. He looked annoyed. Before he could say anything else, the person who had just chased him out said impatiently, "Go away. We don't like drinking cow's milk here."

The foreigner's face was a little pale. He was in urgent need of money. Without money, he would not be able to find his family. Finally, he walked away resignedly amid everyone's laughter. Xiaoguo waited for a while and then quickly followed him when he was far away.

Xiao Guo called him, "Hey, wait a moment."

The foreigner stood there and looked at the woman who ran up in confusion, a skinny woman.

"How much are your cows?" Xiaoguo asked directly without beating around the bush.

The foreigner was stunned at first, then he was overjoyed, "Do you want to buy my oxen?"

This sentence is so confusing, I don't know how Niu Yizi said it, none of it makes sense.

Xiaoguo suppressed her smile and nodded.

"It only costs one or two taels of silver." The foreigner said cautiously. He looked at Xiaoguo's expression, afraid that she would think it was too expensive, and then added, "Its milk is really delicious and nutritious."

After a lot of babble, although his words were out of tune, Xiaoguo still nodded in agreement. One tael of silver was really a bargain. Nowadays, it costs two taels of silver to buy a plowing cow, not to mention a dairy cow. He would make a fortune. Although the cow has just been weaned, he could use its milk to make many delicious foods when it grows up, and he could also sell it for money, which would be another source of income.

Although the foreigner in front of him was tall, he was definitely not very old. You could tell from his eyes that he looked very young and immature. He must have encountered some difficulties. Xiaoguo felt a little bit sorry for him. He felt like a liar and was taking advantage of him.

The boy ignored Xiaoguo's storm of thoughts and was ecstatic. He finally had money and could follow his family and find them to reunite.

In exchange for the money, Xiao Guo, out of a guilty conscience, gave the boy two more cents so that he could buy some buns. The boy looked at her with tears in his eyes with gratitude. Xiao Guo felt even more guilty and left in a hurry without looking back.

Xiaoguo happily walked towards the market entrance holding the calf in her arms. Although it was a little heavy, she was still happy.

Mrs. Yang had just arrived as well. The two of them sat in the carriage, talking to each other about what they had bought. Compared to Xiaoguo, Mrs. Yang bought a lot of things, including food, clothing, and daily necessities. In contrast, Xiaoguo only brought two useless spotted cows and some seeds.

"Do you want to put it in my basket?"

Mrs. Yang looked at Xiaoguo, who was struggling to hold Huaniu in her arms, so she kindly let her put the baby in her basket.

"It's okay, I'm strong enough to hold you."

Xiaoguo showed off his arm strength to Mrs. Yang and said it was no problem.

Besides, Mrs. Yang had bought a lot of things and put a lot in the basket. How could I cause her more trouble? And although they were two calves, they were malnourished and had just been weaned, so their frames were big but their meat was small. I was stronger than the average woman, so I could still hold them.

After hearing this, Mrs. Yang did not force it, and the two of them went back to the village chatting and laughing. After getting off the carriage, they walked home together.

As soon as I arrived at Yang Dasao's house, I saw Zhuangzhuang, Xiaohua and Xiaohu playing at the door. Zhuangzhuang heard the noise, dropped the stick in his hand, ran towards Xiaoguo, and pounced on Xiaoguo.

Xiaohua and Xiaohu also ran over and said to Mrs. Yang, "We were originally playing in the house, but our little brother Zhuangzhuang insisted on coming out to wait for his mother."

Xiaohu continued, "That's right. My little brother Zhuangzhuang asked mom more than ten times this morning why she hadn't come back yet."

Xiaoguo looked at the shy Zhuangzhuang with amusement. This child is still a mama's boy and can't live without his mother.

Several people went back to their homes separately. Xiaoguo called Zhuangzhuang and asked him to see what he was holding.

Because he was afraid that the calf would be stressed along the way, Xiaoguo borrowed a cloth that Yang's wife used to cover the bottom of a basket and covered the calf. The cloth was very large and could just cover most of the calf.

Zhuangzhuang had noticed a long time ago that his mother was holding a bunch of things in her arms that seemed to be very heavy and moving, but they were covered by a cloth, so it was difficult to see clearly what they were.
