Chapter 23: Enlightenment

After eating and drinking their fill, Zhuangzhuang's belly was about to burst. Xiaoguo was a little worried and could only lead Zhuangzhuang around the house to eat.

The two little cows were very strong and were eating grass with a grunt. Zhuangzhuang and I played with the calves in the house for a while. When we came out, we saw that it was still raining outside. Looking at the vegetable fields in the distance, I felt lucky that the seeds were buried deep, otherwise they would have been washed out if the rain continued.

After playing for a while, Zhuangzhuang's stomach had digested the food, and he felt sleepy when he was full. At this moment, Zhuangzhuang was leaning against Xiaoguo and felt drowsy, but he still forced himself not to fall asleep. He wanted to listen to his mother's stories. The more he listened, the sleepier he became, and finally his eyes slowly closed and he fell asleep.

Xiaoguo stopped telling the story, slowly carried Zhuangzhuang back to the bed, lay on his side and fell asleep with Zhuangzhuang in his arms after a while. He didn't get enough rest last night and he didn't stop this morning either. At this moment, listening to the sound of rain, he felt a little sleepy.

The rain was still falling outside the window. In a house in a small fishing village, a man was standing by the bed, looking at the sleeping man on the bed. There was a knock on the door. The man was startled and looked at the door vigilantly.

"Brother Li, it's me. I'm here to change the medicine." A girl's voice came from outside the door.

Brother Li, also known as Li Shouji, put down the knife in his hand and opened the door, "Miss Yu, thank you for your help."

Yu Zhizhi smiled shyly, walked past Li Shouji and entered the house. She looked at the man on the bed. Her heart began beating wildly again. She couldn't control her emotions. Her eyes were obsessed with scanning the man's body, hot and straightforward.

"Cough." Li Shouji coughed.

Yu Zhizhi came to her senses and clenched the tray in her hand. She walked towards the bed, gently removed the gauze, took off the bloody gauze, replaced it with new gauze with medicine, and then tied it tightly, slowing down the whole process just to get close contact with the man in front of her.

Perhaps Yu Zhizhi's eyes were too intense, the unconscious man moved his hand and mumbled something. Li Shouji heard the movement and walked quickly forward, listening carefully to what he mumbled.

"Mother...Xiaoguo...Mother..." The man did not wake up. He said a few words as if he had a nightmare and then fainted again.

Although Yu Zhizhi was close to him, she didn’t understand what he said. However, Li Shouji beside her heard it clearly and sighed. It was always these two people, Old Chiang, Old Chiang…

Xiaoguo and Zhuangzhuang slept until the afternoon. They both stretched out on the bed at the same time, with their expressions, movements and even the direction of their rolling all the same. Xiaoguo yawned and sighed in her heart about this extravagant life, which was just eating and sleeping every day.

It’s time to prepare dinner right after waking up. Xiao Guo feels that this kind of life of eating, sleeping, and eating is really intoxicating.

After getting off the kang, Xiaoguo went to the kitchen and made noodles with the chicken soup from lunch. They each ate a big bowl. Before going to bed at night, Zhuangzhuang pestered Xiaoguo to tell him stories. Xiaoguo thought about it and decided to tell him some philosophical stories. He was three years old this year, which was just the right age for enlightenment in modern times. "Then let me tell you about three people and the spider after the rain."

Zhuangzhuang turned over and lay on Xiaoguo, looking at Xiaoguo with his big eyes blinking. Xiaoguo smiled and said softly, "After the rain, a spider struggled to climb to the broken web on the wall. Because the wall was damp, it would fall down after climbing to a certain height. It climbed up again and again, and fell down again and again... The first person saw it, he sighed, and said to himself: "Isn't my life just like this spider? Busy and busy but without any gain." So he became depressed day by day. The second person saw it, he said: "This spider is so stupid, why doesn't it climb up from the dry place next to it? I can't be as stupid as it in the future." So he became smart. The third person saw it, and he was immediately moved by the spider's spirit of repeated defeats. So he became strong."

Xiaoguo finished her story in vivid detail, and Zhuangzhuang was amused by his mother's changing voice tone. His mother's voice became hoarse and then raised. It was so funny.

After Zhuangzhuang finished his fun, Xiaoguo asked Zhuangzhuang, "What does this story want you to understand?"

Zhuangzhuang was confused. What did he understand? He just thought what his mother said was funny. He thought for a long time before he said uncertainly, "You can't be as unhappy as the first person when looking at things." Zhuangzhuang has not been to school yet, so he can only say this and has no way to summarize.

Xiaoguo was very happy that Zhuangzhuang understood a little bit. He lowered his head and kissed his cheek as if to encourage him. "Well said. Different people have different views on the same thing. Pessimistic people can only see the pessimistic side, while optimistic people can often find different things."

Xiaoguo looked at Zhuangzhuang's ignorant reaction and said simply, "This story tells us that we should learn to live a positive life and know how to resolve some of the unpleasant things in life. This will not only make us happier, but also make it easier to succeed~"
