Chapter 287 Admission Ceremony

Time passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye it was the day of the entrance ceremony, also known as the ceremony of paying homage to the teacher.

Early in the morning, I said goodbye to every animal in the house reluctantly, and my tears never stopped.

After eating two red eggs while sobbing, Mrs. Yang knew that Zhuangzhuang was going to become his disciple today, and she also knew that he would not be back for five days, so she brought Xiaohu and Xiaohua to see him off early in the morning.

"Zhuangzhuang, you have to eat well."

Xiaohua held his little hand and patted his shoulder like an older sister. She was about to say something else, but was suddenly shut up by a cry that shocked the heavens and the earth and made the ghosts weep.

"Wow~"

The sudden cry scared several people. Their strong tears stopped flowing and they just hung in their eyes in embarrassment. They looked at the little tiger with snot bubbles coming out of his nose helplessly.

"Brother Xiaohu..." Zhuangzhuang didn't know what expression to use at this moment, as if he was the one who should cry.

Mrs. Yang felt a little embarrassed and pushed Xiaohu who was crying uncontrollably, "That's enough, Zhuangzhuang hasn't cried yet, but you can."

Xiaoguo wanted to laugh, but since Xiaohu was crying so sadly, it would be disrespectful to him if she laughed, so she could only turn her back, cover her mouth and laugh silently.

"Zhuangzhuang, you have to be well. Don't be lonely without me to play with you. When you come back, we will continue playing!"

"Yeah! Okay, Brother Tiger!"

Zhuangzhuang was very moved. He grabbed his small backpack tightly and followed Xiaoguo reluctantly into the donkey cart.

Just when Xiaoguo was about to leave, Zhuangzhuang suddenly tried to jump down. Xiaoguo quickly caught him and put him on the ground. Before she could scold him, he ran away, saying, "Mom, wait a moment."

"Oh..." Xiaoguo didn't call him and could only watch him run towards Mrs. Yang.

Not knowing what Zhuangzhuang said, she could only guess by looking at Mrs. Yang's face. Mrs. Yang was stunned for a moment, then nodded with a smile, reached out and touched his head, and said something. Zhuangzhuang nodded after listening, and the conversation ended.

Sitting back on the donkey cart once again, Zhuangzhuang was much quieter. He just nestled in Xiaoguo's arms, leaning against her quietly without saying a word.

Xiao Guo waved goodbye to Mrs. Yang and then drove away.

Approaching Confucius' house, Xiaoguo touched Zhuangzhuang reluctantly. She suddenly had the feeling that her son had grown up.

He stopped the donkey cart, put down Zhuangzhuang first, then took out all the things. After counting them again to make sure everything was correct, he went in.

Confucius got up early this morning. Today's Chen hour is auspicious. After getting up and having a simple breakfast, he began to prepare for the ceremony of becoming a disciple.

Confucius' face was beaming today. This was the first time he had accepted a student, so he was inevitably a little nervous.

When Xiaoguo and his companion arrived, Confucius had just finished preparing everything.

In ancient times, the four major ceremonies included the entrance ceremony to school, the coming-of-age ceremony, the wedding, and the funeral. A grand ceremony had to be held on the day of entrance to school.

Although Confucius was just a single person and did not run a school, all the necessary etiquette was observed.

From today's muscular attire, new clothes and red shoes, to Confucius' attire, decent and elegant clothing, all of them reflect the importance the two people attach to today's entrance ceremony.

When the auspicious time arrived, Confucius brought Zhuangzhuang to the main house, where the necessary items had already been placed.

"Dress properly."

Mrs. Kong was dressed appropriately and helped with the procedures. Xiaoguo stood quietly not far away and watched with satisfaction.

Looking at Zhuangzhuang's straight back, Xiaoguo covered her mouth with her hands, unable to control her tears. She couldn't help thinking, if only she had a camera at this moment, she could capture Zhuangzhuang's first step in life as a souvenir.

"Bow down to the Master."

Confucius brought Zhuangzhuang to the portrait of his teacher, knelt on both knees and kowtowed nine times. Zhuangzhuang followed Confucius' example and did the same.

"Knock and pay respect to the Master."

This time it was Confucius' turn to sit in the main seat and accept three vigorous kowtows.

Zhuangzhuang looked serious and kowtowed three times, which made Confucius very happy. If Gu Ji had not been performing a greeting at the moment, he would have stood up and hugged Zhuangzhuang.

"The ceremony is over."

As soon as Mrs. Kong finished speaking, Xiaoguo came in with a tray on which were placed the six gifts that she had bought the day before as a gift for the Master.

Confucius accepted it and put it aside.

The entrance ceremony is not yet complete, there are only three final steps left.

"Wash your hands and clean your heart."

After Mrs. Kong finished speaking, she came over with a basin of clean water, came in front of Zhuangzhuang, and Mrs. Kong guided him to put his hands in, washing them front and back, and then wiped them dry.

The meaning of washing hands and purifying the mind is to remove impurities and retain essence, concentrate on one's work and have no distractions.

"Cinnabar opens the mind."

Mrs. Kong brought some cinnabar, and Confucius dipped a brush into the cinnabar and then applied it to the center of his strong eyebrows, about the same size as the mole.

"Mole" is a homophone of "wisdom", which means the awakening of wisdom. From then on, one will have clear eyes and a clear mind.

"Trace the red characters and start writing."

Under the guidance of Confucius, Zhuangzhuang wrote the first word in his formal learning career.

Xiaoguo was eager to see what was written, but due to the situation, she could only worry silently.

Soon, Zhuangzhuang put down his brush, and Kong Fuzi raised it with satisfaction, with admiration in his eyes about to burst out.

Xiaoguo tiptoed quietly and finally saw the words.

Benevolence.

"Strong, resolute, stubborn and taciturn are close to benevolence."

Confucius's expectation for strength is all integrated into this sentence.

Xiaoguo made a note of it in his heart and prepared to write a letter to Jiang Shanhe to tell him that his son had officially started school today and that he should make the father excited.

Xiaoguo went over every frame and painting of today in her mind. Since she didn't have a camera, she would go back and paint them. Although her skills were not very good, as long as she had a rough outline, it would be fine as a souvenir. She estimated that she would never forget this day for decades or even until she was old.

Her shining son~

The entrance ceremony officially ended. Zhuangzhuang followed Confucius with his small bag towards his residence. He looked back every few steps and reminded her not to leave.

Xiaoguo almost nodded her head off, but Zhuangzhuang was still worried, so he walked to the corner, still looking at her reluctantly.

Xiaoguo waved to let him go, and he left.

Mrs. Kong saw everything and smiled at Xiaoguo, "Zhuangzhuang is really attached to you."

Xiao Guo nodded helplessly, "Yes, he has never left me since he was born."

Mrs. Kong nodded, showing her understanding. "It's bound to happen someday. Just get used to it."

"Yeah." Xiaoguo originally wanted to leave, but considering Zhuangzhuang, he hesitated.

"Don't leave at noon, stay here for lunch." Mrs. Kong was smart and saw Xiaoguo's hesitation at a glance. Finally, she was afraid that Xiaoguo would be too shy, so she said, "Zhuangzhuang is still young after all, so stay here for a meal to pass the time."

As expected, Xiao Guo did not hesitate when hearing this. He nodded happily and said with a smile, "Then I will trouble you."

"Don't even think about it."

Xiaoguo was stunned and didn't understand what it meant.

Mrs. Kong smiled mischievously, "I heard that you have good cooking skills, why don't you show off your skills?"

Who told you this?

Xiaoguo was a little confused. Who leaked the news?

"Let's go!"

Mrs. Kong took the initiative to pull Xiaoguo towards the kitchen. She was not at all shy and was very hospitable. She treated Xiaoguo with special affection.

Xiaoguo's social phobia was of no use in front of Mrs. Kong. There was no room for shyness at all. In just one morning, Xiaoguo became familiar with Mrs. Kong and agreed to visit her often in the future.
