Chapter 32: Don’t argue if you can take action

A few people were bickering when a pretty girl suddenly appeared before them, looking at them with an unfriendly expression. They were all startled. After seeing that it was He Zhaojun, Princess Yuchang patted her chest.

"You're so elusive, so scary! Are you afraid of being seen?"

He Zhaojun sneered, "You've been gossiping behind my back all day. I thought it was some country woman, but it turns out it's you two. I'm so sorry."

Although she appeared respectful on the surface, her tone was filled with disdain and contempt. She covered her mouth and nose with a handkerchief, turned sideways and refused to look at them, as if she was disgusted by the filthiness of these two people.

She was known in the capital for her arrogance and dominance. He Yong had held the rank of General of Cavalry, and she had five brothers, all of whom had distinguished themselves in battle. They came from a long line of military commanders, immensely wealthy and powerful. Even Princess Yuchang and Wang Yan didn't dare underestimate her.

Not to mention, she herself had made military achievements. Among the women, only Xiao Yuanyi was an example, so she was naturally confident.

Wang Yan had suffered a defeat at the hands of Cheng Shaoshang before, and was even more furious after being insulted by He Zhaojun.

She rolled her eyes and took a step forward: "Zhaojun, you are so stupid. Cheng Shaoshang is still having an affair with your future husband, and you are still defending her so much. I really don't know if you are stupid or not."

He Zhaojun flicked her sleeves, dodged Wang Yan's hand, took two steps back, and kept some distance.

She didn't answer directly, but only perfunctorily saluted the Crown Prince: "Your Highness, please don't pollute your ears with such clumsy provocative words. Please go in and visit General Ling immediately."

As he spoke, he lifted his foot and stepped on the hem of Wang Yan's skirt, refusing to let go despite her struggles. The prince was just worrying about how to deal with these two noisy girls, and this remark hit the spot, so he hurried inside.

Without Wang Yan to flatter her, Princess Yuchang naturally lost her momentum. After entering Ling Mansion, she was as quiet as a chicken.

Two flowers bloom, each showing its own beauty.

Let’s put aside the people in Ling Mansion and just look at what happened at the gate of the mansion.

He Zhaojun remained composed, and somehow managed to keep Wang Yan half-crouched, unable to move forward or backward, feeling uneasy. Wang Yan had never been so embarrassed before, and while trying to pull her skirt off the ground, she cursed He Zhaojun.

"You! He Zhaojun, let me go! Princess Yuchang won't let you go!"

"My mother is the Queen's sister. Wait until I report this to the Queen and I'll punish you!"

He Zhaojun was flipping through the account book and ignored her words, but Wang Yan seemed to have a duck stuck in her throat, quacking non-stop, which was really annoying.

In the original series, Wang Yan and Princess Yuchang both entered the Ling Mansion, but now, she forcefully detained Wang Yan, with no effect. It seems that, for these villainous female supporting characters, only one is needed to further the storyline.

Thinking of this, He Zhaojun sneered, "Wang Yan, how is your uncle doing lately? I heard he's had a very hard time."

Wang Yan's mother, a descendant of the Gan'an royal family and a seasoned brother-suppressing demon, was so eager to sell the Wang family to support her worthless younger brother that the entire Wang family suffered as a result, including Wang Yan.

After these words were spoken, Wang Yan was suddenly dumb as if she had been given a mute drug. She stared at He Zhaojun, unable to utter a word.

After a while, the prince and his two companions came out of Ling Mansion covered in dust and dirt. Princess Yuchang walked forward crying and didn't even bother to hold Wang Yan's hand.

Wang Yan moved suddenly, but unexpectedly the shackles behind her disappeared. She was careless and fell flat on her face. She lay on the ground and cried out in pain. Unfortunately, He Zhaojun was standing far away and didn't move at all.

The prince met the third prince head-on. After a few witty exchanges, the prince hurried away. Wang Yan followed him, and the wailing gradually faded away.

He Zhaojun put away the account book in her hand and saluted to the Third Prince: "Your Highness, I pay my respects to you, Your Highness." Her words were sincere, but her attitude was perfunctory, and she didn't even bend her knees.

Wen Ziduan stared at her for a long time without saying "stand up".
