If there were a world like this, where at high tide the entire world would become a vast ocean, and at low tide most of the water would flow to the center of the Earth, leaving only land except for a small amount of water...
Is this kind of world interesting or is it wrong?
The Lulin people living in the "Tide" found it quite interesting.
In the eyes of us, the Land Scales, this world, which we have named "Tide", is a fish. The ebb and flow of the tide is the fish breathing, and we, the creatures living on the "Tide", are the scales of the fish.
As for why they believe the ebb and flow of the tides are the fish's breathing, the older generation gave reasons that I cannot refute. This is because the switching time between the sea and the land is always very regular. Excluding the ten days or so of high tide and low tide, the sea mode and land mode in the "tidal" world are each 200 days.
Very regular, like the breathing of a living being.
We are part of the world, living on its surface and breathing with it.
So everything is logically connected!
Unfortunately, although we can't stay on the seabed for a long time, we are not marine creatures.
So we are always busy. Whenever the tide goes out, we need to start preparing food, repairing and reinforcing or even rebuilding our boat. When the tide comes, we will jump on the boat that we have prepared for 200 days and start 200 days of life at sea.
We usually build boats as a family unit, but those Lu Lin people who have reached adulthood but have not yet started a family will be forced to build a small single-person boat, which is a sign of growing up.
But building boats is one thing, and when the tide comes we will try our best to gather the boats together, just like the schools of fish that emerge from the ground. We migrate in groups, gathering together to survive the tide and wait for it to recede.
Life at sea is not boring. We will sit on the deck to fish, draw, play the conch shell, dance to the sound of the conch shell, record our newly made stories, and then wait for the storm to come. This is the test we need to accept.
These 200 days of ocean life were certainly not boring, because every ten days or so the world seemed to tilt, followed by storms and huge waves.
This often makes me feel that our world is not a fish, but a shell with a bad temper?
Whenever the shell breathes clappingly, we suffer.
We need to find a way to weather the storm. The worst-case scenario is that the ship is torn to pieces by the storm and we have to abandon it.
The Lu Lin tribe who lost their ship can only find ways to seek rescue. The tentacles on our foreheads can help us search for the nearby Lu tribe.
It's hard for me to explain why this works, but just like our eyes can see the world and our ears can hear sounds, the various shapes of tentacles or feelers on our foreheads can help us detect and sense nearby creatures.
On the sea, the Lu Lin tribe will not refuse any of the Ni tribe who come to the ship, even if we were enemies before.
So if we were to go overboard during high tide, our only concern would be being swept too far out by the waves, which meant we would have to keep swimming until the tentacles started to light up, alerting us to the presence of other land scales nearby.
Such incidents are actually not uncommon. Every member of the Lu Lin tribe has experienced their ship being torn to pieces by a storm. Over time, every member of the Lu Lin tribe has learned to persevere.
Hold on until the storm subsides, hold on until the tentacles glow, hold on until the tide recedes, and then you will have 200 days of rest.
Perhaps this is what "Tide" wants to teach us?
I wrote these little truths that I had summarized into the fairy tale book I wrote. The 200 days on land were enough for me to write thousands of copies, and then sell them all before the tide came - this is the time when the Land Scales are most generous.
Children will love to read it, and even adults will nod their heads repeatedly when they see these truths and take out their seashells to buy one.
But few people would discuss the bookworm's whining with me.
Perhaps they felt these principles were too obvious? Or perhaps there was simply nothing to discuss; a theory accepted by the vast majority of the Lu Lin Clan seemed unnecessary to debate.
