Chapter 27 Chapter 27 (1/2)

"Xiao Tangqiu? Xiao Tangqiu!"

who?

Who is calling him?

Xiao Tangqiu opened his eyes with difficulty, and the next second Tang Mianmian's face, which had been magnified more than twice because it was too close, appeared in front of him, almost scaring him to the point of cardiac arrest.

Seeing that he woke up, Tang Mianmian was immediately excited: "You finally woke up! That's great! I thought you were dead!" As he spoke, he burst into tears.

What a joke! How could he be dead? He was clearly alive and well...

Wait a minute... he seems to be really... dead?

...Wasn't he pierced through the heart by the boss's palm? So, is he already dead? Wait a minute! Something seems off again... What the hell is going on with that livestream?!

"Tang Mianmian?" Xiao Tangqiu struggled to reach out and touch Tang Mianmian's face, and found it was hot. He touched his own face, and it was also hot. "You are not dead? I am not dead either? What happened?" If they were already dead, how could they have temperature?

Tang Mianmian threw herself into Xiao Tangqiu's arms and sobbed, "I don't know what happened... I was hiding in the closet the whole time, not even daring to look outside. Later, I heard some noise outside, so I quietly peeked out through the crack in the closet door... and then I saw that boss kill you! I thought you were dead!"

Xiao Tangqiu also recalled the previous scenes bit by bit, and couldn't help but smile bitterly: "I also thought I was dead..."

"Then, I don't know why, but the system suddenly popped up and said the mission had failed. Before I could react, I opened my eyes and found myself here," Tang Mianmian sobbed. "I don't know where this place is, but it doesn't seem like the real world..."

After hearing Tang Mianmian's words, Xiao Tangqiu turned his attention to the environment around them. As a result, his heart sank. This was obviously not their real world. Could it be that they were involved in a new mission without knowing it?

This is a very large square, much larger than the park square downstairs from Xiao Tangqiu's house where several groups of square dance aunties compete for territory every day. It is almost impossible to see the end of the square at a glance. In the center of the square stands a tall statue, facing Xiao Tangqiu's face.

It was a statue of a woman, looking down at her whole life from a high position. Although there were no eyeballs in her eye sockets, Xiao Tangqiu could still see a hint of compassion for all living beings.

With Xiao Tangqiu's extremely limited knowledge of art, he really couldn't tell who the statue was, but he subconsciously felt a little uncomfortable, so he shifted his gaze and looked elsewhere - not far from the statue there was a row of horizontal white cylinders, which looked a bit like coffins at first glance, and a closer look made them look a bit like the teleportation cabins depicted in holographic online games.

He stared at it for a while before realizing that the row of white cylinders was followed by another row, and another row, and the square was almost completely filled with these cylinders!

"Holy shit!" Tang Mianmian also saw those white cylinders and was immediately horrified. "What the hell are those? Coffins? Is this a morgue?"

"Such a large morgue, and it's open to the sky?" Xiao Tangqiu glanced at Tang Mianmian. "Stop talking nonsense. Didn't you see someone crawling out of it?"

Tang Mianmian's expression was a little distorted: "Isn't this even more terrifying?! He's resurrected!"

Xiao Tangqiu stared closely at the people who crawled out of the white cylinder, and almost instantly he determined their identities - these people should be "players" like him and Tang Mianmian.

At this moment, a group of people suddenly appeared out of nowhere in the open space beside Xiao Tangqiu and Tang Mianmian. There were about seven or eight of them. Some of them were awake, while others were in a coma like Xiao Tangqiu just now.

When the group of people found themselves in a strange place, some cheered, some looked dazed, and some cried and shouted.

"We finally escaped! We made it!"

"We... survived? We actually... survived..."
