Slaughter Alley is located at the deepest part of the West Street working-class district.
The streets here are intricate and the houses all look very similar, with no particularly distinctive landmarks.
Even with a map, it still makes people feel dizzy and disoriented.
Such a complex environment makes it easier for monsters to hide.
Moreover, the civilian district was the hardest-hit area during the outbreak of the Frenzied Virus. After it fell, the density of monsters was comparable to that of the central market.
Su Bai rarely came here before.
"The last Tier 3 boss monster in the neighborhood is also active in this area. I hope I don't run into it."
"However, I don't seem to be so scared anymore..."
Activating the Mask of Oblivion, gray mist enveloped Su Bai, who was dressed in a black robe, instantly making him the most inconspicuous figure on the street.
He took out the Star Compass and began to move forward, referring to the location of Slaughter Alley in his memory.
As we delve deeper...
The surrounding environment gradually became noisy.
The sounds of monsters breathing, growling, the friction of some large creature moving, and various other indescribable noises mingled together and echoed throughout the area.
It makes the streets and alleys very lively.
Otherwise, there would be blood-red graffiti everywhere on the walls, and clumps of black hair growing rampantly on the windowsills and cracks in the doors of the houses along the street.
It might really make people think that there are human activities here.
Splash...
A tall monster with legs as thin as stalks, wearing a tattered gray robe, slowly walked past the street corner, dragging a tattered sack that was constantly leaking blood.
It failed to spot Su Bai, who was right next to it.
Su Bai did not provoke it.
However, he soon realized that the monster's route seemed to be the same as the Slaughter Alley he was heading to.
The blood flowing continuously from the sack left a conspicuous drag mark on the muddy road.
There is more than one such mark.
Over time, the soil has turned a deep brown, and the entire street exudes a strong stench of decay and rot.
Guided by instinct, Su Bai followed in the monster's footsteps.
They hadn't gone very far.
He then saw the monster do something that he couldn't understand.
Knock knock knock!
It came to a closed door in the alley and, quite politely, went up and knocked on the door.
The door opened a moment later.
Then, it pulled out several large pieces of raw, bloody meat from the sack behind it and threw them through the open door.
The door then closed.
During the process, the two sides did not exchange any words, but they acted as if they had done it countless times before.
When passing by.
Su Bai could clearly hear a gnawing sound coming from behind the door.
"This is...a food delivery person?!"
He felt a sense of absurdity.
But the facts are clear: this monster actually is a food deliveryman, responsible for delivering sacks of raw meat to each household.
But why would it do that?
Could it be that the monsters here still retain some semblance of intelligence?
To figure this out, Su Bai followed the monster and carefully observed its unusual behavior.
Before they knew it, they had gone deep into the alley.
Turn the corner.
A fork in the road appeared in front of Su Bai.
One to the left, one to the right, the two gloomy alleys seem to lead to different places.
On the left side of the alley entrance, there was a scarecrow. The scarecrow was dressed in tattered clothes and stained with blood. Its face was outlined with bright red lines, forming a bizarre face that looked like a child's doodle. It stared straight at the intersection, sending chills down one's spine.
From the alley to the right came the heavy sound of chopping meat, and the stench there was even stronger; just standing outside made it feel suffocating.
"Slaughterhouse Alley is on the right..."
Su Bai looked at the monster.
It dragged the blood-soaked sack into the alley on the left, where darkness enveloped it, and it quickly disappeared from sight.
Hesitated for a moment.
Su Bai still didn't follow.
He had never heard of this monster's strange behavior before, and perhaps it contained some special information.
But he did not forget his main purpose for coming here.
The woman in the yellow dress can no longer delay her task.
Moreover, the boss monsters in this area roam freely and can appear anywhere unpredictably.
Su Bai isn't afraid of it now, but if they run into each other, a fight is inevitable.
It interferes with important matters.
I took the crow mask out of my backpack and put it on; the stench in the air was immediately filtered out.
Su Bai turned and walked into Slaughter Alley.
He noticed that as he moved, the scarecrow at the entrance of the alley on the left was also turning to face him.
That eerie face, with its ambiguous smile, was always watching him.
It makes people feel very uncomfortable.
Suppressing his impulse, Su Bai frowned and looked ahead. The alley was narrow, only wide enough for two or three people to walk side by side. There were also piles of dark bags on the roadside, their contents unknown, taking up a lot of the passageway space.
The alley ends abruptly into darkness.
It seemed to have no end.
As he was observing, a tightly closed door on the left suddenly opened, casting a dim yellow light. Su Bai saw a thick, hairy arm pick up a black bag from the doorway and then retreat back inside.
Ta-da!
Soon, a series of rapid chopping sounds came from inside the building.
"...The old lady only said that the doctor was hiding at No. 7 Slaughter Alley, but there was no specific address. How are we supposed to find him?"
"The dumbest way is to search each house one by one."
