Chapter 302 A Ghostly Encounter

Su Bai feigned ignorance and deliberately asked:

"Know what?"

Ning Hongchen gritted her teeth, furious and embarrassed, her eyes practically spitting fire, "...You're still pretending!"

"I really don't know. Why don't you explain it to me in detail?"

Su Bai teased, taking advantage of the situation.

"I'll talk to you my ass!"

She suddenly kicked at him, but Su Bai, prepared, dodged to the side and said seriously, "Don't make a sound, there's a monster!"

"Um?"

Ning Hongchen was a professional; he instantly entered combat mode and became alert to his surroundings.

Turning around, she saw Su Bai walking forward nonchalantly.

"There was a monster spying over there, but it's run away now."

"...I don't believe you for a second!"

After all the commotion, Ning Hongchen became much more well-behaved.

Perhaps worried that Su Bai would bring up that matter again, she tried to start a conversation several times on the way, but she held back. But the price of suppressing a chatterbox was gaining a restless, hyperactive child.

Crash!

She kicked a pebble away, muttering to herself as if she mistook it for Su Bai. Little did she know, the flying pebble would break a ceramic jar placed by the roadside.

The old, gray earthenware jar had a large hole in it, and a foul-smelling liquid was gushing out.

At first, there was only liquid, but soon, something began to go wrong. From the murky liquid emerged wet, black hair, pale, swollen fingers, and rolling eyeballs...

Whoosh!

A wet figure crawled out of the earthenware jar, its long, messy black hair, like a waterfall, obscuring its face, leaving only a slit through which its dark, wide-open eyes could be seen.

It stood by the roadside, motionless, facing the two people.

The atmosphere suddenly became extremely terrifying.

"Hey... what, what should we do?" Ning Hongchen nudged Su Bai, her voice trembling slightly.

"What do you mean, 'what to do'? They didn't do anything to you, and you just came and broke up their home. Apologize!"

Su Bai said matter-of-factly.

"Apologize?"

Ning Hongchen's surprised tone rose several octaves.

But then, right after Su Bai spoke righteously, that terrifying figure slowly squatted down, his pale arms hugging his knees, as if he were a little... wronged?!

Ning Hongchen found the thought that had come to mind incomprehensible.

"Yes, I'm so sorry!"

She probed.

Su Bai also said, "Don't worry, I promise you, I will find you a more suitable container."

"..." Ning Hongchen turned her head to look at him earnestly coaxing the ghost, feeling only absurdity in her heart, and unconsciously revealed the expression of the old man on the subway.

But the next second.

Then I heard a notification in my ear.

[Hint: Hidden quest triggered - Restless Souls!]

...

"This is a ghost!"

Ning Hongchen, who had been reserved for half a day, broke down in an instant.
