Whoosh!
The gray mist dissipated to both sides, and Su Bai burst out from it. His speed instantly reached its limit, and the clock was within reach in the next moment.
But just then...
Su Bai suddenly felt something trip him up on the ground!
Suddenly losing his balance, the 'demon' in front of him seized the opportunity, turned his head and revealed a cruel and tyrannical smile... At the last second, Su Bai's gaze froze on the glass window of the clock, and then he showed a look of realization.
Bang!
Darkness descends.
...
Su Bai, who had been resurrected, remained silent. Without waiting for the little girl to urge him, he nimbly rolled into the house and cleaned up all traces. He took out the gift he had prepared beforehand, grabbed all three collectibles in the room, and then waited to trigger the rules of hide-and-seek, successfully leaving the house through the Forgotten Mask...
Back in the living room.
The old-fashioned wall clock, which had stopped at 11:57, began to start spinning again.
This time, Su Bai's attention wasn't entirely focused on the clock. He carefully inspected the living room and quickly confirmed something.
There is no mirror.
To be precise,
There wasn't a single reflective object in the entire living room.
Even the crystal chandelier hanging overhead couldn't reflect anything due to the dim light.
Except for one object.
The glass mirror embedded in the clock itself.
His previous failure wasn't without its lessons; his impulsive act before his death finally allowed him to detect traces of the monster's existence.
Splash...
The water was flowing.
The clear water spread rapidly from Su Bai's feet to the surrounding area.
It seems slow.
But in a matter of moments, it engulfed the entire living room.
Everything in the living room was reflected in the calm, broken surface of the water.
On the walls on both sides, the originally blurry oil paintings became clear in the reflection, but they were not the beautiful scenery that Su Bai saw on the surface. Instead, they were terrifying human figures with ferocious faces and bloodshot eyes!
They stared at him as if they hated him terribly, wishing they could drag him down with them and make him one of those terrifying figures in the portrait.
Only on the painting in the center.
The painting doesn't depict a human figure, but rather a tall man dressed in black with his back to the viewer. As his silhouette becomes clearer in the water, a deep, mad voice rises:
"three!"
"two!"
"one!"
call!
As the countdown ended, the man suddenly turned his head, his features contorted, his bloodshot pupils dilated, making him appear unusually agitated. He glared at the living room, but seemingly due to some kind of protective mechanism, he failed to spot Su Bai, who was standing motionless.
The man could only turn around unwillingly and continue counting the numbers that were driving him crazy.
"three!"
"two!"
"one!"
Su Bai listened to the countdown without flinching, as steady as a rock. Now that they could find the monster's true form, everything was much easier. Being able to observe the monster's movements meant that the strategy he had prepared could finally be put to use.
He knew.
The routine countdowns performed by men are actually just a smokescreen.
If he wanted, he could break the timing rules and turn around at any time to pronounce a death sentence on his target.
He needs to wait for the most 'special' one.
Time passed slowly.
After several deceptive countdowns, the man's body suddenly stiffened, becoming like an uncontrollable puppet, and his voice became incredibly cold and rigid.
"three……"
Su Bai had been prepared for this moment, and the instant it opened its mouth, he shot out like an arrow.
Whoosh!
Ten meters were covered in an instant.
Before the man could even react, Su Bai was already standing steadily in front of the clock. He reached out and pulled the door at the top of the clock where the chiming bird was placed, then quickly stuffed the bird in to make it whole.
"one!"
A man's voice, noticeably faster, came from behind.
But it was too late.
Clack...
The hands spun faster, as if manipulated by an invisible hand, quickly reaching the hour.
"Cuckoo!"
"Cuckoo!"
"Cuckoo!"
A blue-green bird popped out from the top of the clock, emitting a clear, ringing sound that echoed repeatedly in the quiet room.
at the same time.
Su Bai heard a melodious and mysterious bell sound.
Thump!
The sound seemed to resonate deep within his mind, or perhaps it came from one of the rooms surrounding the living room. For some reason, the moment the bell rang, Su Bai had an intuition that the bell was the source of the interference with the timeline!
"ah!!"
The faces reflected in the oil painting on the water all seemed to be screaming in terror.
It was as if the clock bird had returned, and time was ticking to the hour, which was a terrible torture for them.
Su Bai turned his head as if sensing something.
It met the face of the man in the portrait who had turned around, a face of decadence and madness.
He lunged forward, only to be stopped by an invisible frame. The powerful impact created ripples on the water's surface, and his gloomy, crazed gaze seemed to devour him whole.
clatter,
clatter,
clatter.
Suddenly, hurried footsteps came from the little girl's room, quickly approaching the door. The call of the cuckoo startled the woman inside, who was also about to come out to look for the intruder.
"...As expected, it triggered some unpredictable change."
Su Bai thought to himself.
However, he had long anticipated that things would change. Since he had chosen to follow the path the little girl had shown him, he was prepared to bear the consequences.
